DOWNHILLDAVE – did you lacquer over the transfers? If so, did you do the whole frame or just over the decals?

The powder coating will probably cover the imperfections. We have rough aluminium castings powder coated snd they always turn out pretty smooth.

I had a call from my bank on a Sunday evening to report possible fraudulent activity and it turned out to be my youngest playing clash of clans. He managed to spend over £300 on ‘gems’.

I emailed Apple and after a few emails (very quick response on a Sunday) they had refunded the full amount by 8pm. Not a big fan of Apple but was impressed with that.

My first email was a bit of a rant about the ethics of these purchases etc. There was one option to buy gems for £69.99! £300 on something that does not exist.

At least when my wife blows money at the shops she comes back with some sort of rubbish.

One sorted turn off in app purchases and any card that is associated with the account.

I just don’t get Facebook. I had an account years ago for a few weeks but all of these people I did not want to speak with starting adding me as a friend so I shut the account down.

My wife is a Facebook voyeour (watches but does not post) and some of the stuff people put on there is cringeworthy.

It seems to be a platform for people to brag and show off.

So proud of little jonny today…..

I love my wife so much…..

It is only posted in an attempt to make themselves look good and feel good about themselves.

I guess I am part of the anti-social network.

Fixie is scary, I never gave it a proper go

They are great and don’t take that long to get used to, you just have to remember to keep pedalling when you first start riding them, it becomes second nature after a while.

Mr Trowel – Nice looking bike!

[quoteMove the guard slightly further along the stays until you can. Then it’s pretty simple.[/quote]

    Mine are fixed into eyelets.

I cannot clear the dropouts with the mudguard in place, I unscrew the bolts at the moment to release the ‘guards. I may try the front quick release fittings on the back.

I agree 100%, full length mudguards are essential for commuting, leave them on all year.

TiRed – do you have full length mudguards? I do and it is a right pain when you get a rear wheel puncture (because of the horizontal dropouts). How do poeple get around this, any ingenous tricks?

I commute on fixed and love it.

I have a Felt Dispatch, could be a really nice bike but the quality of components fitted is poor for the price. Most of the fasteners rusted in next to no time and the paint flaked on the frame.

Having said that, I am still riding it and it is a very comfortable bike!

I went for the Dispatch as it had mudguard eyes.

fairly sure that is a horse fly bite. I get 3 or 4 a year, normally the area swells and goes rock hard (and hot) for a few days.

My dad worked in the sates when I was younger (Chicago) with a view to us all moving out as a family.

His boss over there was very ‘upset’ that my dad was a non-beliver and that he would not go to church with his family on Sundays.

One story that always sticks in my mind is when they were having a conversation and his boss said that his god came first, then his country and then his family.

My dad told him he had his priorities completely wrong and family should come first… We never moved over there!

Great news for you and all of your family. I know a lad who had it about 6 years ago and he is a typical 12 year old boy now. Plays football, fights – a ‘normal’ boy!!!

    All the best

Ordered a Felt ss from them a while ago and had some quality issues with the bike. They were very helpful trying to sort it out (shame felt were not as good).

I have one, there used to be problems with the chargers but they have redesigned it and improved the connector. They are bloody bright and the cheapest by a country mile.

If you are on a budget then you will be hard pushed to beat one (or two) of these:

That is old school, I can remember people having foam grips on drops when I was at school (in the ’80s)!

I have the four bike version of that and I am pretty happy with it.

It is hard to find four bike tow bar racks that are reasonably priced.

The bikes are secure when fitted and they supply plenty of extra straps.

One thing to be aware of is the minimum distance from the ball to your rear bumper, from memory it has to be 50mm (check, don’t take my word for it!). Mine was just under the minium measurement and it fits but there is only about 10mm clearance back to my bumper.

It took a while to set it up the first time but after that it can be fitted quite quickly. It has a clamp type mechanism that secures it to the ball and then a ‘U’ clamp that secures it to the neck of the tow hitch (secured with two nuts).

My only observation is that there is a little bit of side to side play which allows you to rack the rock slightly, not sure if that is that same on all racks of this format??

I can open my boot lid with it attached but it will also tilt (never done it though).

Bloke by me has a nervous scratch. About 2 or 3 times a minute he furiously scratches his head. His desk is full of hairs. It is like sitting near a dog with fleas.

Write to the headmaster requesting a meeting and also send a copy to the governors. Also inform them that you are thinking about taking legal advice on the matter.

I guess it depends what you want to do with the scanned images. I just wanted a digital copy and I think I scanned at about 600dpi and the images looked fine on screen.

My scanner only coast about £50 (and I went halves with my old man so he is in the process of converting his).
