Cockwomble? you really do identify yourself as an idiot by using that word Steve. Keep up the sweary rant too … it really emphasises what an established idiot you are too.

Enlighten me oh great one what is an established idiot? and by calling me an idiot are you not just taring yourself with the same brush?

No not everybody but how does a thread go from trying to raise some money for a worthy cause to a character assasination? Especially those hypocrites that say stuff like hes a bad man but I’m happy to ride with him. Some people on hear seriously need to wobble their heads. Pathetic..
Guy works mainly in Europe most of the time lives in Europe most of the time is good at what he does. Earns plenty of cash probably employes someone to make the most of it.
OH but on STW if your successful you don’t fool the holier than thou..
So some need to wind their necks if you don’t want to join in then don’t .Just stand outside on Thursday and feel you moral glow.
All I wanted to do was buy a bit of equipment to protect someone! anyone! from getting something BAD :-(

Loads of stuff on youtube. Weber have some good stuff on their various channels from around the world. Buy some Angus and Oink rubs stick it on your wings then add some BBQ sauce. Lush haha.

I’ve got a 13kg bottle and it just sits on the side next to it. It’s under the shelf anyway. Can’t say it really bothers me. I don’t move it around much though. Gets used year round. Can certainly recommend the Weber Spirit 11 range.

@joebristol Weber. Has a 10 year warranty. Don’t know about Broil king. Also usually get a few accessories with the weber. Check out their site to see what they are at the mo. What about the Weber Spirit 11 E310? £540 with free cover https://www.riversidegardencentre.co.uk/weber-spirit-ii-e-310-gbs.html
I’ve got the Spirit 11 E210 and love it. none of those cheap thin metal panels.
Also check what you buy most BBQ’s aren’t supposed to have the gas bottles inside.

The advantage is that if your doing your cooking on the gas BBQ and probably the charcoal one as well the air that it draws in through the BBQ is not the recirculated dry air that’s in your kitchen. The theory being that the air especially in the British climate helps to keep the meat moist. Coals taste different but that depends if the difference is because everything is cooked at a million degrees or Done properly/smoked using decent coals, starter and coal baskets etc. I’m not a big smoked food fan so the majority of the time the ease, of gas and the fact there’s only 2 of is means gas 99% of the time for me.
The biggest change for me though was starting to use a temp probe. Never thought about it really until getting BBQ addiction but It’s a simple thing that makes a massive difference. Food cooked how you like. Moist and no chance of making yourself ill.

Re stones on a BBQ. Ends up with a burnt base and raw on top ime- unless heath robinsoning with a couple of fire bricks to lift it up into the hood . There just isn’t enough heat in the hood once you open it to put the pizza in. Bottoms cooked before the top.

The ooni makes pizza like the pros. Different level.

Get the heat thing but personally couldn’t justify 200 quid for something I could do pretty well on a bbq. Never really had any issue and done some pretty good pizza and only takes 4-5 mins. Maybe cause I’ve got a weber and it’s designed to cook with the hood down. Get it on the peel and bosh it’s in, in seconds.
I’m not slagging off the Ooni I’m sure it does what it does very well but the option is there to do good pizza with BBQ which has far more strings to it’s cooking bow.

Like Trail-rat says there are loads of great videos especially cooking stuff. BBQ pit boys are quite good in a redneck sort of way. Some of the Hayes garden centres stuff is good. Some of the Weber ones are good especially cooking joints by the thickness rather than weight.

Hi I got the gas bbq bug last May. Sick of cr4p coal taking ages to light and stinking. So I bought a Weber gas BBQ I have a Weber Spirit 11 E210 I f-ing love it used it at least 3 times a week and that has gone on throughout the winter and have just run out of the 5th 13kg bottle yesterday.
Weber use lid down cooking. My only regret is not getting a 3 burner BBQ as I think this would be far better for indirect cooking. The 2 burner we have is generally great as there is only 2 of us.
Whatever you buy make sure it has some method of reading the grill’s temp. Weber are expensive but come with a 10 year warranty and usually weber themselves usually have offers on BBQ courses, covers or accessories.
    Watch out it’s addictive.
online. Hayes,Riverside,BBQwow have some great offers on at times.
Hayes and Riverside have Youtube videos with tips and things to cook. I live near Hayes in Ambleside they have some good stock and will generally price match if you ask in store and Ian is well clued up.
Check out the Angus and Oink website they have some brilliant rubs and things to try. Try a Scottybab mmmmmm.
    A&O BBQ Rubs & Sauces

Pizza on the BBQ is one of the nices things we do. Buy a pizza stone and cook it on the BBQ not sure you’d need to spend 100’s on an Ooni
Whatever you buy if you haven’t already buy a thermometer for checking food temp one of the most important bits of kit you’ll need.

@squirrelking The traps seem less than effective. Of the two types I have One in a box and 2 open. Both snap traps. The 2 open ones were fairly successful to start but now tend to just go off without capture. Unless something is taking what’s in them. It only seems to take the smaller rats. The traps also attract other things like birds so would rather avoid killing the Dunnock population off in the area.
“Can I shoot” Yes! With any success? no idea as I have no gun. I don’t know how accurate i would be until I got one and tried it. I wouldn’t just start firing shots off until and if I could be sure I could shoot true. I might even find I want to take up target shooting or garden plinking instead.
    I won’t use poison!
Looking at the number of runs/holes we have there is a nice little network/highway so not just coming in for food.
Anyway. The question was based on could I get a cheap gun that would be accurate if my aim is good and good enough to get rid of the rats without any more suffering than is required.
There’s no point spending a fortune then finding out you can’t shoot the damn thing.

After buying a new house from Applethwaite homes and being sh1t on from a great height regarding the kitchen it’s quality and the hideous ability of the idiots that fit it.
We felt we had little choice and either have to live with a load of cr4p or replace it ourselves. a long a depressing saga not nice to have to spend thousands of pound to rectify muppettry after only 5 months in a brand new house:-( The fu@!wits couldn’t even fit the feet on the base units in the right place that’s how useless they were.
Anyway we went and replaced the sh!t with a very decent kitchen set from DIY kitchen.
After reading the reviews on here.
Their units come prebuilt so you just slot them in. we’re really pleased with the quality and the after service we received.
The showroom is well worth a visit. Loads of stuff set up and a large room to help you plan.
    Currently they have 10% off.
Free cake and coffee as well.
I’ve also learnt I can fit large sections of a new kitchen better then Barry chuckle and his dips*!ts.

Think it’s now more a which OLED thread than Oled v Qled.

    eruptron
    Free Member

So I’ve bumped this still undecided but I think that I’m going OLED also sticking with Panasonic. The five year manufacturer warranty is worth having and we got good service from them when the Plasma had a fault.
Looked at a couple yesterday and LG with the cricket on was terrible.
So Have 3 choices. the 802 the biggest issue with this is no dolby vision. We this actually cause me a problem though?
The gz950b The set I would like but the cost. Advantage dolby, some more protection against burn in and retention. Cons cost
Other option tx952b I have is the this just seems to be a 802 with a sound bar. I can get this for 1299 but as I have a surround sound doesn’t seem worth paying 125 more than the 802.
Are the benefits of the gz950b worth the extra cost?

Moved last year to Allithwaite near Grange over sands, Love it. Close to Coniston, Windermere, Staverley.Bowness, Ambleside, Grizedale. Not cheap but close to the M6 train from Kents bank or Grange to Lancaster Manchester Airport etc. It’s also close to Yorkshire. We did Inglebough the other week. 40 mins drive. Hawes last weekend just under a hour. so loads to go at.
    Close to Milnthorpe.
Kendal isn’t for me. I worked there for a while. Other than a bit of shopping that’s about it. It also sits in a hole so flooding is the most obvious problem if you are buying.
As mentioned Arnside is nice as is Silverdale which are also on the train line and close to the M6

@DezB yep need to see them. Been spoilt by the plasma. I really suffer when it comes to the motion blur thing. I only think that Oled is going to be nearest thing to the plasma in terms of the speed the image refreshes I could be wrong. If there is an LED out there that will do the job i would certainly consider it.

    eruptron

@DezB I’ve not heard that it gives eye stain/headaches I have an LG 4k job we got for 250 when we joined Sky it’s a nice set but I struggle to watch sport and game on it because of the motion blur and have swapped it back to the old plasma which works far better for our viewing needs. So I would rather just use my money wisely. Thanks for sharing your experience. I wasn’t devaluing it or having a dig.

@DezB It’s only a TV yes and I would be happy to spend a lot less but I don’t want to be watching the football and cricket or playing COD and be suffering headaches and eye strain. That really would be a waste of money.

@RSVtoddy Yeah the Panny has been great struggles a bit in bright light but is now starting to get a bit glitch. switching itself off and on the other night next day lost a pixel line. Both faults have now stopped.
Burn in seems to be a big hang up with OLED but I think looking at the reviews that seems to be blown a little out of proportion.
Think it’s time I went and had a good look at whats out there.

    eruptron

    Thanks guys.
I get the difference between Qled and Oled in terms of the basic tech with oled switching individual pixels on and off for the better black. I know that Qled is a better version of led.
The Samsung I was looking at is a 2019 model and gets pretty good reviews. The LG one is a OLED and 2018 I think. The latest/cheapest LG oled 2019 is £2499 gulp.
So the 2018 LG one is 55c8p about £1200
I did start out looking an the Panasonic 802B but that seems to get quite a few bad reviews regarding motion blur.
I’d hate to spend that sort of money and end up with something that can’t cope with the motion.
Other thing is is that we rarely watch movies. We are more series watchers than movie watchers.

Was the car just in for MOT? Did you take it to the MOT place due to it’s reputation? Just interested really.
I sort of get the impression you would have been happy if the MOT station had gone through the steps visually you would have been happy you got Passed and advised,
If you knew there were issues why did you not get someone to look at them first? before the MOT it would have sailed through then.
I get the time thing but you knew the issues and after all the vehicle is your responsibility. You drive it around and even if you have an MOT that is a decent one it is only tested as presented even if it lasts a year.
I just don’t understand why you didn’t get them to do this prior to the mot. Did you want a freebe?

    eruptron

So devils advocate here. You drive your car round knowing that it’s got all these faults and now it’s someone else’s fault?
Place doesn’t sound great but are they any better than the person driving a car round that they admit has questionable workmanship and iffy part on it?

So you’ll get Fred in the shed to do it for 200? If it is leaking then why not pay the 150 and get the 2 year warranty.
If it is leaking the potential is depending on the engine that the job will be a bit of a ball ache scuttles off and even injector removed. If the injectors come off then on some models the injector/fuel pipes have to be changed which will all ramp up the cost. There is a chance especially if its an inline engine that oil has been spilt into or on the rocker cover. It can the run to the lowest point and then drop onto the heatsheild and exhaust.
If you can take the soundproof cover off yourself and it’s full of clean oil then you can ask the question at this point because.
Is it a dealer in Cumbria?

Sounds to me that the dealer has done all they can for you other than sort the car obviously. They have got you 90% off the original diagnosis( I assume it was outside of the warranty period) and also given you a car to drive round in. If the Ford roaming tech is also having problems then it sounds that the solution is above dealer level.
Have you called Ford customer service direct? If not I would recommend you do that today. Explain how good the dealer have been with you but you feel Ford need to help with the situation.
I would only consider the P/X route if you were thinking of it anyway sounds like you’ve been pretty patient so far.
    Hopefully you’ll get some resolution.
Sounds like something has gone wrong programming/hardware wise when the immobiliser alignment has/hasn’t occurred. Wrong part, failed programming, damaged connector pin. who knows but it will be interesting to find out when they sort it.
    Good luck.
