In the past some of my favourite films were bleak as hell, Requiem for a Dream, Dead Mans Shoes, Oldboy, Tyrannosaur, Martyrs, Snowtown… I used to lap them up. As ive got older ive become less tolerant. I probably couldn’t bring myself to watch them today – I just want to be cheered up!

    Still enjoyed Joker tho…

A Quiet Night In and The Bill for me, and Zanzibar.

The referee one was one of my least favourites.

    not seen last nights yet…

Worlds End in the obvious answer, but the degla climb out of the carpark isnt much and never as bad as you remember.

re Worlds End. we start and finish in Llangollen. climb up to the mast, do a lap of the Degla network, spend some money in the cafe, then up the carpark climb back to the mast and a monster descent back to Llangollen.

into the 4 week countdown now. Alp d’huez this year for a change. it will be my first time out of the Tarentaise Valley (in winter) for donkey’s. Our friends have stayed in Sainte Foy the last 7 years so they’ll be in for a shock, we were with them 5 of the 7 but have recently had weeks in La Plagne and Tignes so a bit more used to the big resorts.

Snow talk seems quiet this year, no monstrous dumps anywhere but no crisis either? we’ve been so lucky last few years with weather and conditions I cant help feeling like im due a dodgy one.

all inclusive hotel will take the edge of that tho!

this is my problem with it too. as i work away from home, which conveniently isnt far from Surrey Hills, i am free to ride as much as i want after work every night – but solo night riding freaks me out because if i do spanner myself, not only will i be completely lost but nobody is gonna know im missing! even if i dont turn up for work the next day it would probably be 2 or 3 days before somebody started asking why!

Curb is my all time favorite show – even my dog is called Larry David!!

Didnt know S10 was showing on Sky tho!! but i have watched the first two eps via some less legal medium!!

    a stonking return to form!!

after such a long wait, i was a bit let down by S9 and all the Ayatollah stuff.

but these first couple of S10 are some of the best ever!!

thanks for replies. yeah i definitely want to be able to change cables in future, how ong before HDMI is obsolete? network cable is decent shout too.

think i will get them to fit a flexible conduit with brush plates at each end, and for now just get some long ass hdmi cables. run is maybe 3m but there is a change in direction…

I give it a couple of years or till the hair is totally gone, which ever is sooner, before Her Royal High Maintence loses all respect for him and moves on.

Not Netflix but well worth a viewing on iplayer – Ladhood. Its brilliant! Its just 6 episodes and we did them in one sitting. Genuinely laugh out loud funny. A thirty-something trying to analyse the dysfunctional aspects of his own character and masculinity generally by flashbacks to his youth, growing up in Leeds

did em all in one sitting last night too! was instantly hooked. thought it tailed off a bit after the first couple but only because those 2 episodes (the fight and friday night) were absolutely class!! so relatable and LOL funny but some with dark undertones too.

That Schnecker episode brought back some grim memories too, from both time frames!!

the fella who wrote it has a couple of other things on iplayer too to check out, ‘Pls like’ and something else i cant remember the name of.

i rescued a couple of old filing cabinets from a skip which i keep in the garage for kit with shorts, jerseys, bibs/socks etc in separate drawers.

i like to go out there to get ready then ive got something to slip back into when i get back rather than streak across the garden or peel off wet muddy gear in the house…

i have a ton of gear but only ever ride in my current one or two fave items! before i had a garage i just kept that stuff in the van, in a gorilla tub.

Kids innit. Got to get them to bed before playing out. Also it means that we can move about a bit if there is enough time to drive.

yeah fair enough, just personally i can never be arsed going back out again if i go home after work!

I’m local too. it really depends on what type of riding you are after?

you could try this route from Harwood, takes in a lot of the popular spots but not my idea of fun personally… although you could ride through Jumbles on the way to Enty rather than go over Affetside which would cut out a bit of tarmac…

i ski in my alpkit stuff. much prefer layers than a big insulated jacket. I wear my Katabatic for warmth under a waterproof shell when its cold/wet, or just my Morphosis over a micro fleece when its nicer. the katabatic on its own gets wet…

i bought an evoc one, maybe used it twice? just dont have the need to carry stuff anymore. water in the bottle, tools in the steerer, co2 on the frame. dont carry keys or a wallet, phone in me pocket.

it will be making an appearance this weekend tho, to carry a hip flask!
