Mainly why I’ve picked up a Dakine Hotlaps Stealth for the phone, wallet, keys.

why are you riding with a wallet these days?

we have the open plan kitchen diner thing but with space for a small sofa pointing towards a TV too.

its good for when whoever is cooking, they can still keep an eye on what the others are watching and join in with quiz answers or whatever, rather than be banished to isolate in the kitchen. We go round my MIL’s and they are still very compartmentalised. all the fellas in the lounge, all the women in the kitchen! we literally dont see them, it feels prehistoric to me, but they dont mind..

no, and i never would either.

had zero issues with our neighbours. my borther who lives about 100m away waltzed into the garden the other day out like he would normally, my mrs wasted no time in kicking him out in case the neighbours heard him!!

However she did also show me a video of some friends on facebook who were having a right old knees up in their parents garden over the weekend, all family, but certainly dont all live together! lots of fun & frivolity, one of em was having his his head shaved… its weird seeing people you know and like acting like such dickheads; but could never grass on em.

my mate who works for the NHS finished his shift yesterday, had his bike in the car so stopped off for a blast round the woods as he was driving past, saving himself a boring 5 mile road spin from home – was accosted a busybody footbandit and criticised for making a non essential journey.. wish i could have seen her face when the ID badge and scrubs came out!!

i am lucky enough to be able to ride from my door, i just have to negotiate a few roads before i am on the hill, less than 2 miles spin.

I decided to ride with the dog yesterday to kill 2 birds and only leave home once – but as such i drove those 2 miles. only occurred to me i was probably not conforming afterwards.

i dont know about anyone else but i dont really watch or read the news, or look at the forums or social media over a weekend (especially when its stops raining for the first time in months) that stuff is weekday procrastination fodder… logging in online from home this morning and perusing my usual sites and threads, i must say i feel a bit guilt shamed by it all.

i dont think i acted against any government advice; rode solo on friday, spent most of the ride just digging actually. rode in a group of 3 on saturday, but bumped into another pair we know making it 5. (never bloody get as many as 5 together normally) we rode in the local woods from our front doors and generally kept our distance. also this weekend i went to B&Q and the LBS. B&Q was madness, busiest ive ever seen it. i wore gloves and quickly grabbed what i needed and left. bike shop was busy too, i like to think im pretty good at bike maintenance but this was an emergency frame issue and i was still of the impression im gonna be riding loads over the next few weeks!! on Sunday we visited my mother, we sat in the garden and avoided contact but we were definitely not isolated.

I dont think weve been as idiotic as many but do feel we contributed to the problem a bit and will be stepping up the program as of today.

if this shit is still going on by August then were all dead anyway.

Problem is whether the airlines and holiday companies can survive that long.

Assuming you bought a package, i guess fulfilling your agreement by paying the balance would mean the ATOL protection is still valid, which would entitle you to a full refund if they collapse?

money will not be worth anything in the imminent dystopian reality anyway so may as well pay up?

Tried to convince my bil to set up an account for online shipping with Tesco or whatever. Nope, he’s too worried about using his debit card online… What can you do?

slight digression from topic but we had this problem with my mil. we set her up with a monzo account a with a few hundred quid in it. allows her to pay for stuff contactless and shop online. she gets a notification of every transaction and can constantly monitor the balance etc which is improving her confidence in online spending. she is still adamant she must go into a branch to top it up so at the moment we do it for her… she is primary carer for very elderly parents and her less than healthy husband so they’re in major lockdown.

Back from a good trip to Alpe D’Huez. disappointed not to get stranded there for a few more weeks tbh. saw no sign of the virus over there at all, except a few punters wearing masks at grenoble.

Resort wasnt exactly quiet all week either! unless that was quiet. in which case i wouldnt want to return.

lucky with the conditions, woke up to freshies on 3 of the mornings! there were 2 whiteout days, one of which was wet and rainy, but clear sunny skies the rest of the time.

used to work round the corner from the London School of Barbering and visited there regularly for a free trim. never had a bad experience, the pro’s always stepped in if the students were struggling.

its where i learnt to appreciate the attention to detail a good barber provides. I now i pay £20 for a haircut (incl tip) in Kingston.

my local barber is good too and will do it for a tenner, but i well CBA wasting my time on a weekend having me barnet chopped. that one in Kingston stays open late so just call in after work.

thread buried (under all the fresh snow) on page 4

how were your half term weeks? not great according to a couple of different friends who returned at the weekend, apart from the bluebird skies!

this time next week will be day 1 in AdH for us. looks like some fresh snow is due this week. hopefully temperatures stay low enough to sustain it…

yeah the Montec stuff is my favourite out of those mentioned, but im put off them and Dope by their overindulgent Instagram pages. and Dope because its called Dope. and im a 40 year bloke from the north who cant even bring myself to ‘throw the horns’ and cringe every time i hear the word ‘stoked’

i ordered a Burton one from S&R last night, seems a little too bargaintastic to be true so will see, may still have another look at a Montec one…

in market for new jacket… seem to a be few new brands knocking about; Montec, Planks, Dope, Wearcolour… (as sported by Ed on skisunday) seem pretty stylish and decent prices.

really enjoyed The Stranger personally. see your point about some of the gripes reading them here, but none of them occurred to me at the time… kept me completely compelled which is a rare feat.

that lass (the actual stranger) is bang tidy too.
