look at simon cowel. he probably spends an absolute mint on his clobber. those awful baggy jeans and tight v-neck jumpers… not trendy, to everyone else his ensemble is a gopping disaster! He doesnt car care tho, He thinks he looks the business.

i do often wonder at what point my grandads started wearing beige slacks and m&s knitwear, was it the fashion when they were in their 30’s?

and in turn whether ill still be knocking about in skinny jeans when im 80…!?

i just cribbed the route off a somebody i know on strava, were staying at high bentham, was gonna drive over to clapham and start there. i dont know any of the references made here. it will be this friday afternoon and from what i can make out its an anticlockwise loop from clapham… tunnels, austwick, flascoe lane, felzor nick, white stone lane, crummack, sulber gate, crooke lane, left up to lords seat, simon fell, summit… then blast back to clapham somehow.

hmm thanks. trouble is we’d like to put down the SLC before the kitchen goes in, then flooring after that. we have an extension where new slab meets old, but the new floor is throughout. builders have not included for any works to the existing…

Yeah Cobra Kai is one of the best tellyprogs I’ve seen in years! Great acting, genuinely funny, kickass fight choreography, nice retro touches & soundtrack – and really clever bits like (as mentioned) where you get to see the story from the “bad guy’s” perspective. It takes a classic (if cheesy) film and actually turns it into something with depth whilst retaining the heart of the original.

great acting!? have you had a crane kick to the head? dont get me wrong i really enjoyed it too, for many of the same reasons… but the acting is so dodgy it adds to the comedy

    Also, Larusso’s Mrs…!

Im 40 in April and really want a nice guided riding holiday somewhere a bit special.

trouble is that excludes any of my family and non-riding mates – but then again even my riding buddies are complaining it will cost too much and that we could fly drive, shack up in some hovel and self navigate – which is what we always do! which is why i want the 40th to be something more salubrious.

when i was in my twenties, i went on loads of 40th’s down on the ‘costa. even went to Vegas for one too. Now were all gonna be 40 next year and there will no doubt be a few of those jolly ups to attend… so im probably gonna go on my riding trip on me tod.

gave up faffing with syringes or them mini bottles ages ago. just pop a couple of inches the tyre off the rim after you’ve seated it and pour a big glug in. turn wheel upside down and pop back on. takes seconds.

i have the tool in my headset but not the pump. its probably my favourite upgrades ever.

use it with the storage capsule with some slugs, spare valve core, valve key, couple of small cable ties and the emergency tenner.

i have a pair of C02 (one with inflator) strapped to frame and a tubeless stabber thing in my bars.

we got a Dualit 4 slice stainless steel job that is going strong after a good 12 years or so.

got the little sandwich cage thing so you can make toasties in it but i also use it for thick stuff so it doesn’t get stuck.

    love toast.

presumably OP is after digs nr Keswick/Whinlatter to do Grisedale Pike rather than Grizedale forest which is 25 mile away – although you could stay anywhere and drive the last bit into Keswick in the morning pre-ride. worlds your lobster then…

[very slight] hijack – I’d love to get better at drops; I’m comfortable up to a point but is there anywhere within an hour or so of Leeds where there’s a set of increasingly big ones (like in the vid above) I could go and practise on for a few hours

    Assume you ridden Leeds UBP?

theres nice drop there, 2 of them actually iirc. dead easy to lap…

ok thanks. yeah looking on the map a Dunkeld / Ballater/ Aviemore / Laggan lap of the Cairngorms does look a much more manageable loop..

no because all four of them places are toss :D

nah, i could live with that i had noot been to them before. Im just thinking i can tick off a few classics in one hit. i dont mind driving 3hrs in an evening – wont have much better to do…

i could give Inners a miss to stretch it out a tad

I can’t believe no bike journalists have dinged theirs like this when you see/read the input above from bikers.

Andi from this parish reviewed them and dinged the shit out of them (he tested them on the Sram track in Malaga FFS) but still gave them a stellar review because despite the dings he didnt puncture and the the wheels still spun nice and true.

Does seem to me that the only people with good things to say are the folk who get to ride their wares for free!! their marketing people must be genius!

they can be nice, polite and courteous as they like but the company is a joke and their products are shite.

    Thanks all.

I am for now only looking for information to populate the datasheet, aftersales support is not an issue. this equipment will be part of a huge package sub-supplied by single vendor.

Also cost not really an issue. it should just be the best available.

i think i will just specify a multipurpose Tig welder for now and let the supplier advise whether separate machines would be more suitable

I wish I had the willpower to keep a bike for 4 years!

ha me too. i even try to justify every new build by saying it will definitely be a long termer this time!! but even my most beloved bikes have not lasted more than 2 years. new bike itch is real!

Personally, and i know its a bollocks attitude, but i couldn’t stand riding round on a Mk1 when the Mk2 is in the wild.

    Replace.

we have booked a cruiser on the river shannon. did it years ago on Norfolk broads before kids, was a decent laugh. couple of days at either side at grandads in Dublin too will make for a decent 10 days. They have another grandad in north Wales too and will no doubt be packed off there for a week… we also have a couple of camping weekends booked. we were lucky to get the August BH when they honored a canceled trip due to the lockdown.

Maybe, maybe not, I’ve honestly no idea, just never occurred to me people would.

if your haircut was 8 or 9 quid, you wouldn’t just tell them to keep the change? its never occurred to me people wouldn’t.

Love Adam Buxton (and Louis T) Buckles’ podcasts seem a bit esoteric until you have listened to a few episodes, new listeners will be a bit ‘WTF?’ but they are essential listening for me.

He and Louis (and Joe Cornish) were old school pals.

half way through his new audiobook at the moment too. like a massive extended pod!!

slight digression but re bank transfers – i sold a motorbike once, i was staying in a rented london flat at the time so was happy to do the transaction at home. This bloke came down on a train from Birmingham i think, he came in and his bank transfer wouldnt work! he was adamant he was genuine and even showed me his balance fwiww. he sat there for hours trying to get it sorted while i made him endless brews. i wanted rid of him but no way was i letting him take the bike. the bloke was after spending the night there!! :D i obviously politely told him to eff off and he ended up staying in a hotel! all got sorted the next day and he drove home on it, turns out his wife had bought something else that day and maxed the withdrawal limit! – turned into an expensive purchase for him!!

my new Trail Wide wheels have more dings in them than they’ve had rides.

disappointed. especially considering my tyres are still pretty firm from fitting them.

ive not been riding anything too fruity either.

incidentally – how does the crash replacement scheme i paid extra for work when they have zero stock of anything?
