so in non- polished journalistic words, its an over priced, over weight, glorified trial bike with a shit spec, but its a nice colour and the pez wheels have not exploded in 3 months of trail centres? (maybe because the tyres were at 40psi) :D

im quite happy with Finish Line ceramic wax lube, or a squirt of Finish Line ceramic wet if its particularly grim. i dont like to leave my bike unwashed after a wet ride, so chain gets wiped and treated with a bit of MO94, then lube reapplied next time i use it… if its dry the finish line lasts a handful of rides unwashed.. but never have any full gunk issues – perhaps im too fairweather!?

you being a clutz on a bike is hardly the fault of EDC.

never for one second suggested that. just saying i went with granite after my edc was mangled and id knackered up the steerer threads. posting as a user of both systems – as per the OP.

anyone a regular listener to richard herring’s rhlstp podcast?

Richard has been insinuating the Prince is a sleaze for years – once or twice he’s gone off on rants about him that have been bleeped out!! for comedic affect im sure, but does anyone know what Rich’s opinion is founded on?

i clipepd a pedal and ejected through the front door, i lay on the ground in the superman position and my bike came flying over my head and continued to ping pong down the hill (amazing how high they bounce!!) when i retrieved it my stem was twisted and steerer tube bent! i was lucky! but the EDC had to be drilled out!

yes was a big fan of my EDC in-steerer tool until a stem mangling crash wrote it off… replaced with the granite because it was miles cheaper but mainly because no tapping is required. i also bought the in-bar tubeless kit and chain tool.

the multitool is fine. the allen keys are annoyingly short (so are edc tbf) so only really of any use in emergencies, but i couldnt get enough leverage to loosed a saddle bolt. its neat and tidy, east to access and does not rattle. one downside is you can fit only the tool in there, no way you can sneak anything else in. the edc has that little pod tube where i kept a tenner and some spare slugs. i have not used the tyre lever, doesnt look great, and i tend to snap every tyre lever ive had! not used the chain tool either but the tubeless tool has saved me a couple of times, although the jabber did snap the first time i used it, it hasnt rendered it useless.

in my experience all the blokes are just elated to be away from the wife & kids for a few days and will be quite happy to just sit in a boozer all day. Whenever ive been on a trip with organised activities they inevitably get sacked off anyway.

i ordered a frame in April or May with a delivery date of July wk3. July wk 3 came and Privateer emailed to say it was delayed until October because they couldn’t get any shocks to build the frames with!!

i got them to send it without as was planning to change the shock anyway, so it arrived on time – the shock turned up separately the other week…

just saying its the hold ups are a chain of events, sub-suppliers, the sub suppliers suppliers etc. its all a bagoshite at the moment. i have some mates in the industry and even they cant source new bits for themselves!

100% north side of Win Hill. just follow your nose (or strava heat map) its awesome.

not sure there are any issues with most of the trails but the big jumpy bermy ones at the far end (known as narnia) have always been contentious with land owners… then again, the work thats gone into them! id be suprised anyone would put that much effort into somthing likely to be destroyed….

Okay I’ll stay on 2 conditions:

    1. Not just match but beat the other place’s offer

too late for that, but id have had that conversation before accepting the other job. you could have pretty much named your terms by the sounds of it… 3 weeks notice tho!? i would hate that. never understood long notice periods, in my line of work you throw your notice in monday or tuesday and finish on the friday. sometimes even finish immediately and get paid till friday which is a winner. the employer does not want to pay me to sit around clock watching, or pillaging information any more than i want to remain in a job ive lost any commitment to.

    get ont sick!

Has it been any good so far? not really been captured by the hype this time… im completely out of touch with this level of footy (Bolton fan) ive hardly heard of any of the players, no idea who the top europeans are? watched a bit of the dutch and the italians – no familiar names there – i hadnt even heard of half the England line up tbh. Also, im Lancashire born n bred, but seem feel more support for the Welsh than the English these days anyway! is that weird?

yeah not really given any consideration to the tree. wonder if i could rope lash it to the boughs?

    erictwinge

Have not made anything yet but i wanted some advice from you experts if thats ok…

kids really want a rope swing in the garden, trouble is we have no trees with suitable branches.

as such we have selected one that goes up in a Y shape like a catapult… im thinking i will fix a horizontal bar to each trunk with a cantilever poking out where i can hang the swing… fag packet sketch below.

my question is; what would you use as the horizontal bar and how would you fix it to the tree?

was hoping to use existing materials, we have plenty of timber knocking about but also a couple of old scaffold poles, was thinking if i could fix two brackets to the tree, then use the pole coupled at each bracket…? any advice welcome..

only ever done it as a climb too. always thought it looked like a dreadful descent.in fact most of the fabled peak descents are shite! beast? rubbish. honestly dont see the attraction.

some of the trails off Win Hill are tremendous though, especially in these conditions! and good old Les Arcs never fails.

chris, i followed @PS5StockAlertUK on Twitter. They post all the latest stock drop information.

Still took several drops from several retailers before i got lucky. they posted last night that Game are going to release stock of bundles this morning, but they have not posted this morning about it yet? (Game being a bit naughty in that customers purchasing bundles are having more success than console only punters) i was suckered by it and bought the console + assassins creed + extra controller.

i think demand is easing a bit now, many people are sorted…..

Its a ball ache no doubt, but never ever worth the price of them tools unless your doing it every day. child labour with little fingers is good for this!

Where theres will, theres always a way. I always tie some string to the end and pull it through when removing cables if im selling the frame, or attach the new cable with the fabled red bit. New frames generally come with that long plastic straw stuff. so a bare naked frame is rare.

The whole idea of the raw frame is that it doesn’t matter if it gets scratched.

really, i just chose it coz it looks cool AF !

seriously, ive always had bikes wrapped, since it was a thing at least, but never really appreciated the value of it until i didnt have this one done!! interesting…

got a bit excited when i saw the thread title, i have a raw Privateer 141 on order!

its a bit like the pikey version of this, but at least it can carry a bottle…

debating whether you would get a raw frame wrapped?? my current bike is peppered with paint chips!! but they are all cosmetic, no serious damage.

i find it fine too but its difficult to tell whether its actually doing anything or ive just been on a lucky run with punctures… certainly caused no issues when fitting a new tyre.

We went to Wren too. I had a pretty established idea of what i wanted, and a pretty basic room shape so it wasnt rocket science. i was hoping the designer guy would have provided some nifty ideas but he had nothing i hadnt already thought of. we designed the layout, went away, played with it a bit and went back for some amendments and placed the order. We had it fitted by someone else, but any issues wren quickly preplaced any dodgy or misplaced items. The fitter was impressed with them.

Also, because it often goes unsaid, in this case the small team at STW have deliviered a far better and more detailed article than our pink canadian friends.
    Well done STW.

really? he’s bolted it to a completely unsuitable bike and neglected to even ride it!?

An interesting enough but well padded article, regurgitated the marketing spiel. The actual review consists of ‘I can report that it’s super stiff and very plush after ride #1’… nice 1.

Not that the pinkbike one is any better in fairness! but this lot put a bit of effort in at least https://ebike-mtb.com/en/new-rock-shox-domain-suspension-fork-2021-review/
