To this day I still cannot get my head around is that Oregon is pretty much the size of the UK with 4 million people (which is 1/7th the size of alaska with 700k!)

A interviewer told me I should take my first Job at McDonald’s while at school/uni off my CV

I mentioned it was significantly more successful than this business and left the interview. The guy was Just like Ricky out The Office – I was not interested.

My best mate and his girlfriend of 5 years decided to sell their house, give up jobs to travel around asia and reside in Australia

2 week before they went, he dumped her with the excuse “he wanted to shag his way around asia”

yes she sold her car, house and quit her job already.

The features are very good but unfortunately Safari is faster on my ip5 – I believe chrome cannot access some of the more advanced java features that Safari can.

I tend to use it a lot on my ipad though.

    Some geeky speed readings

Regardless of any of it the earth will recover, we will eventually wipe ourselves out or be destroyed somehow and then give it 500,000(short term in earths life) years and we will be a mere blimp in the earths history.

Actually the more we try to preserve the earth, the longer it will probably take for full recovery, so being green is just human selfishness not actually helping the environment as a bigger picture.

I use one on my MTB and CX bike – love it – takes a bit of tlc from the mud and rain but in my eyes worth it for the comfort.

I rented a place and my emo 14 year old cousin came around and the aura of my flat freaked her out, later that week we found out that the previous tenanted were murdered in the house.

We found some plates int he loft and sold them on ebay as murdered man plates….they sold well.

Both good choices – just depends on the spec of the two as they are quite similar cars underneath. As a company car I would go with the one with a low emissions…lower tax. Ideally 99g Co2 or less and you are laughing.

I think Alex has nailed it.

Go down to your local independent and listen to a few systems and buy the one YOU like. Don’t get dragged into other peoples opinions or items on sale or feel like a bargain.

Get one that is nice on your ears.

But do consider seriously if you REALLY want to keep a cd player.

As an active member of the Naim community during the Larvy days, no one was replacing a top of the line Naim CD player with a Larvy DAC, lower end models yes CD5’s etc.

The almost total lack of penetration into studios by hifi manufacturers speaks volumes.

And studio equipment is very different to home equipment for many reason, your comment is toss. Its like riding an XC bike on a DH race, both bikes to a non cycling enthusiastic but to us very different tools.

Not trying to poo poo your great idea, but Sri Lanka was really the only place I have been that I haven’t thoroughly enjoyed. My wife and I have done lots of independent travelling very much like you have described (Asia, India, S.America) and we really didn’t enjoy Sri Lanka – while it has a lot it offer it is really quite difficult to go independent, very hard not to get swept into semi organised deals, really hard to describe why we didn’t like it….I will have a think! And I think a 12 & 15 year old would struggle for activities/stimulation.

But I would HIGHLY recommend Vietnam and Cambodia. A few days cycling around Ankor was a lifetime high. P

(Edit – we did Sri Lanka in mid 2011)
