I think the quality of soundbars and reduced quality of audio on streamed video has made soundbars a very popular option rather than full surround sound.

Saying that I have a proper 5.1 system* – which is in constant use and no rush to go back – absolutely love it and the luckily my wife does too.

It always shocks me how bad TV’s sound!

*5xSpendor speakers, Naim process and amps all around plus REL sub.

My wife could often exceed the mpg of our last BMW 116d ED

HJ Real MPG figure is 78% of the official figure from 375 submitted results.

58mpg is def more my average than my wives! When we did do brim to brim vs on board mpg calcs it was less than 5% out. When we got rid of the car it was 63mpg average over 32k

My wife could often exceed the mpg of our last BMW 116d ED – achieving over 75mpg on a regular basis over 60 miles.

    I could never get close!

My last car was £300 a month inc full servicing (2 year PCP – would have been cheaper over 3 or 4), £0 road tax, cheap to insurance (relative for me <400 a year), did 62mpg over the time I had it. £1000 down at the start.

Faultless pain free quality motoring. That is the cost of new BMW ownership.

I see a car as an expense rather than an asset.

I personally quite like cars and I choose them based on what I can afford (and want to spend) monthly – I always use PCP type deals and prefer new for a hassle free life.

Currently pay about 7% of my gross towards a car payments.

I am not saying it is the cheapest way to do it, but it is my approach.

Both have benefits. Personally I love the torque of a diesel combined with mpg.

    I am running a diesel, 0-60 in 5.4 sec and 45mpg – cannot grumble!

I PCP my car, like the concept and works well for me.

Just need to consider a car as an expense rather than an asset.

I have a croozer and have affixed a baby car seat inside it for my 8 month old. It can get a little rough on lumpy roads or forest tracks. The croozer is good though. He sleeps quite happily. We’ve had him out 2-3hr rides with a break, in heavy rain and sub zero weather no problem.

I have been successful on google – does the croozer or any other take an isofix car seat?

I think both are much of a muchness – but I highly rate the use – curently at just under £1200 cashback on quidco from 2008.

According to TfL the Oyster day runs from 0430 to 0429 the following day

And there is no issue using the card 2 days in a row.

Stainless might be a magnet for smears, I know when I have worked in kitchens it was always a nightmare to keep clean.

I went for quartz to match the counters.

I am a fan of apples, but they really cannot claim they are good value for money. The £570 one is the min I would consider in the Mini range (you can get this for 512 if you can get educational discount from someone)

As for alternatives – do you really want a desktop or a laptop?

I woudl have a browse around ebuyer.

The £399 model looks very under-powered with only 1.4ghz cpu and 4 gig ram. I would probably look up the range or at alternatives.

I have an older model and like it (but a 4 core i7 @ 2ghz)

Did you wire the pre outs so one pair of amps was the left speaker and one the right?
    or
one pair of amps did the HF both sides and one pair the LF both sides?

Not sure I understand what you are asking here.
One pre-out goes to MB and to LHF
One pre-out goes to MB and to RHF
One pre-out goes to MB and to LLF
One pre-out goes to MB and to RLF

My setup was exactly as you described.

2 sets of pre-outs (ie 4 cables in total) each going to a single Monoblock and each of those wired to one of the 4 speaker terminals on a pair of bi-wired speakers

I used to do this with Rotel Monoblocks into some JBL SVA2100 – worked just fine.

    They were epic speakers!

A lot of people have started to say December 15 than December 15th.

    Not that I care, I’m American :)

And why does Maths have an s on the end? Nobody does Geographies or Englishes?

I cannot answer your question, but I can say I am using more data on my ip6 with 4g than I ever did on a on my ip5 on 3g. Not an issue as I’m on 20gig.

My usage profile has not really changed at all, I was wondering if it was something to do with compression based on your bandwidth?

Wonder how it would look if you just turned 4g off and just left 3g on?

The other half still lives in London and I live near Bournemouth and I find London cheaper to eat out in than Bournemouth and the quality is much better.

I frequent both places and cannot agree more! In London I have tons of places to eat at under a tenner that are very good indeed. Obviously I know a whole load of places at silly prices too.

If you are a hifi buff a dedicated main spur.

For Ethernet always double port. Nothing more annoying than one going down for what ever reason. I have also cabled to both my cupboards just in case – now I have a nas in one and a sonos running my bathroom speakers in the other – so well worthwhile.

Interesting – thought it was just me.

I love listening to music and even though I have been to heaps of gigs – I have never walked away loving the music, but have ALWAYS loved the atmosphere and party.

And I have seen some epic acts.

Seriously, the CPU in the mini is basically the ipad 2 and is ancient

Technically yes – reality its a fine device. My mum has been running an ipad2 since release and it is still doing just fine, I don’t even notice its older when using it compared to my ipad3 mini.
