I like a hassle free life so would go for mac2sell or similar – they are offering around £900

    Ebay will get you more.

But at that price I’d be getting a Retina at £1400 (everyone knows a student right?)

Well for us it changed massively when child number one arrived 12 weeks ago. Outgoings went around 30% of joint to 65% of mine.

This is after decent pension payments, mortgage, car etc etc etc.

It was quite a big jump going from looking after myself on a decent salary to looking after 3 people!

Night out is so open to interpretation.

Living in London I can go down to the local wetherspoons and have a decent drinking session for £20 (iirc Brewdog is under £2.50 a bottle) or I can go an spend more than a sensible amount on a meal and few cocktails and an uber ride home.

Just depends on the night out as it always has – don’t think the world has changed that much, just grew up a little, go out less and expect a little more from a night out.

Cheers for the Pitt Rivers tip – I shall check it out. The kids are way too young for the pool, esp in the hands of their fathers alone!

I have always had hatchbacks and bought my first saloon in Dec (New 330d) wish I got an estate!

But I can still get two bikes in bags with pedals off in the boot with the back seats down. So not too bad.

Next time I will be getting an estate with retractable tow hook.

The highest local authority was Camden in London where the average first-time buyer’s property price of £614,315 was 11.4 times the gross average annual earnings in the area.

Maybe there was only ONE first-time buyer, and they’d just won the lottery?

Def not the case – I know quite a few 1 time buyers in London all buying 500+, albeit in their mid 30s on decent salaries.

Personally I think its crazy – even though I am part of the momentum.

Curiosity has got the better of me, how did you cook it and what did it cost?

Sliced as proper thick steaks and cooked en-mass on a cash iron hot plate – then slices and severed with chimichurri, curry roast potatoes and grilled veg. It overfed 13 people – as all you can eat steak – about 2/3 kg left over.

I get my meat from Tom Hixon of Smithfield market who do a delivery service for orders over £100. This was grass fed Hereford Sirloin and I would put it at a similar quality to the stuff I occasionally get from Waitrose Butcher – so prob a 7/10 ie better than average! £117 for 6.3kg (they put their weights as a minimum).

I have a gas BBQ (Weber grill), Coal BBQ , Coal Smoker and an Electric smoker.

All of them are damn good. Personally for ‘grilling’ ie burgers, steaks, fish, octopus, prawns etc – I prefer a gas BBQ. For low and slow style cooking – ie butt, brisket, ribs, whole chicken, an electric smoker is by far the easiest and best for results.

But I do enjoy fire – so I do use the coal ones too….and the results are also good.

Jimmy – next time try short ribs (jacobs ladder) rather than beef ribs, a heap more flavor and save the expensive stuff for a roast :)

    I usually get 6kg at a time from here for £35 http://www.tomhixson.co.uk/british-short-ribs.html

I usually get about 3hrs out of 8 bricks for a whole chicken.

I would aim for a min of 4 hours and check the coals every 2hrs and top up if needed.

Remember to put a dry rub on for a few hrs first if possible and of course some woodchips.

Never tried vege in the moat – usually just a bottle of beer.

    This is my killer recipe

    Spices:
    1 tsb Coriander
    1 tsb Cumin
    2 tsb Paprika
    1 tsb oregano
    1 tsb pepper
    1 tsb salt
    2 tsb Coco Powder
    1 tsb chili powder
    1/2 tsb cayenne powder
    1/2 tsb mustard powder
    1/2 beef stock cube
    1 bottle beer

    Veges
    1 med Onion
    4 cloves garlic
    2 sticks celery
1 cans of beans (I use kidney and black eye mix)
    1 tin of tomatoes
    2 tbs tomato paste

    Meat
    500g mince beef
    or
my fav a few short ribs (jacobs ladder)

    Method (mince or ribs)
fry up the onion, garlic and celery (all chopped fine) til transparent. Set aside. Brown off the meat and add to the onions. Add the rest of the ingredients except beans and simmer for a few hrs. For the last 1/2 hr add the beans. For the ribs – at the end pull them out and strip the meat off the bone and add back to the chili. Season to taste.

This is easily scaled and obviously add more chili to your taste or mix it up depending on what you have about. We also do this with chicken or turkey and even 100% vege by substituting the beefor more beans. I usually double it up to a kg of meat and 3 tins of beans and bung some in the freezer.

    Optional for a smokey taste:
Add chipotle dried chilled or powder at the start or (dont flame me!) 1 tbs bbq sauce. Also can swap the paprika for the smoked variety. Serve with lime.

    Serving suggestion.
In a dish, bed of rice, cover in chili, and cover in cheese & Jalapeno sauce and grill to get a nice grilled cheese topping. (think shepherds pie)

I challenge you to find a better one.

Massive difference for me on my back when I started using one. Also used religiously for a double leg break.

They come very recommended by me.
