but I have read about the fan base and how it can polarise opinions.

So true! On the Naim forums once, I saw a thread claiming the Naim branded USB stick sounded the best – until a moderator piped up and said it was just a generic branded promo stick! Made me chuckle, I choose Naim because I love the sound of my setup, but you have to take everythign with a pinch of salt on audiophile forums as the brand loyalty can be astounding!

Also a thread for amusement is “Which sounds best, Mac or PC!” – of there are always tears!! It’s a PC btw.

input of your choice into quad 303 amplification with Castle Severn speakers.. all routed through the best cables you can aquire will blow the Naim stuff into the weeds IMO..

Uniti is a lovely choice. And even better with a powerline, despite what other say it makes a difference, worth the money is another question all together!

BTW I have a Naim setup.

Pixelmix – check out the current gensis range, they have a disc’d up, Alfine CX bike…looks lovely!

I would have like disc’s, but hydro ones – which don’t seem to be available, and since I had some shiny new wheels (Royce, CXray etc) and some forks (Easton EC90x) it made sense to keep my canti’s!

Its my everyday work horse, commuting, out with the girlfriend etc. It will be doing decent number of miles (usually 100 a week)

Try it, why not you might like it!

Personally I’ll happily ride my fixed CX all day, but I haven’t wanted to take the plunge with a mtb yet!

I would keep away from Belkin personally, I have had nothing but trouble.

Linksys/Cisco is always my first choice.

I used to be an advocate of cheap jeans but recently was bought a pair of howies selvedge denim jeans and am 100% converted – they are so much nicer than anythign else I have owned (usually Levis form the states) – if they last like they claim, I’d buy my own next time!

I have owned 2 microsharps and they both broke after about 10 uses. Not recommended, though they do a good job!

My vote would be a husky or miniature husky (still a decent size) awesome fun dogs and little in the way of breeding defects.

    Or a collie

Also got Atom box bolted on the back

    Wassat then?

A really low power PC thats has enough grunt to run HD videos. Acer Revo’s – they attached to the vesa mount on the back of TV so remain out of sight and HDMI to your TV and optical to your home cinmea if you are that way inclined. Access with wireless mouse/iphone air mouse/wii remote hack!

So simple my mum even has ones and all her pensioner friend ask me to get the same for them! I just set them up with iplayer/ITV OD/C4 OD/ SPotify and picasa links on their desktops.

I agree with FunkyDunc – cappa are awesome but they’ll likely to be rusted to pieces by now (I owned one too – best car ever!)

    My vote is still MX5

If perm doesn’t fit with your life don’t take it

If going perm takes worry out of your life – hmm I’d do it as long as you are getting market rate and can cope with that

I had deep fried turkey (yes whole) in the states once.

I do like to have goose here esp as I actually dislike turkey. But if you can get it Denhay Gammon is the BEST!

    @el_boufador & Sam_b

My setup is ver specific for my needs – which was basically:
Output audio via optical and coax outputs simultaneously
Video only via HDMI @ 1080p
    Hifi sized component
    Silent therefore low power

What I didn’t need is Bluray (I have an OPPO bluray player) or recording facilities.

    So my spec is:
    Intel Wolfdale E8400 3.0ghz @ 65w (I’d consider an i3 now @ 73w)
    Asus matx mobo
    4gb Ram
    60gb SSD (for OS)
    2TB HD for storage
A few silent fans from SiletnPc
ESI Juli@ Soundcard (2x digi outs and v.decent quality)
    Logitech Minovo Keyboard
    Case as above

I also run a Acer h340 Home server with 3TB

Basically it works a treat, perfectly silent (and I am really picky about this…), sounds fantastic, looks fantastic and has plenty of grunt, for me is a much better option than my ion unit (Acer Revo).

I have just gone through this process – I weighted up the pro’s and cons of building an ion/atom machine – I have a Acer Revo already and its pretty awesome but just doesn’t have the horse power.

So I built a machine around one of these cases – altogether stoked with it. I have full specs if you want – but you probably have a good idea what you want. A streamer/nas/Xbox etc all have advantages, but I think a proper PC sitting there with full functionality can not be beaten.
