Google Reader + Flipboard = amazing!

I personally haven’t used a tab yet that is anywhere near as good as the iPad (I have been using tabs in various forms for 10 years – even with Window 3.11 and a magnetic pen!)

The lack of flash is annoying I admit, but the skyfire browser gets around quite a few of the flash video issues (still no C4OD) and is a joy to use. But what really does it for me is flipboard, it works so damn well! Some much of the net is designed for ios devices that it surpasses the web experience of other tablets because of this, everythign is perfectly optimised. I have android friends (robots have friends too) who have to emulate an ios browser to get the same experience.

Mates got a pair – nice to use. Still not sure I would switch from risers.

Amersham – you still have London and you have the country side as as well as the best beef I have ever tried from Terrick Beef – you can also buy goose eggs from a local farmer. Some of the best government schools in the country if you have kids.

I have made it a few times – come out pretty good. You can use the defrost/fan setting on your oven.

Use it as a filling for Steak and Stilton pie – it until tender first.

djglover – it is possible yes. You tend to get better results ripping your CD to the hard drive first.

Also depends on CD player you are comparing it to and audio harware used in the Mac.

They have to right to not move and have their established lives disrupted. As always it will come down to how important their ob is to them and how important they are to the BBC

I wouldn’t move from London to Manchester,

Answering the posters question. Chiswick is nice place to be, there are far more places worse than chiswick than better!

If you live and work in the same (nice) area you are on to a winner.

5lab – this can actually work well (obviously no flac support – but alac is ok). One of the draw back is the lack of remote and flexibility it can’t play internet radio or spotify (except ipod touch). I have heard an ipod though a £2k dac and no one could say it sounded bad in the slightest.

But as always, spend more and get better results, albeit diminishing returns (BIG TIME) – but additional flexibility. too.

You can use an ipod/ipad as a remote for itunes (win/Mac) or with some faffing Foobar (win). Also as a remote for spotify.

I run a minimac into my Naim Supernait – moved away form CD’s about 5 years ago and would never go back – Vinyl will always sound awesome, but high resolution FLAC/WAV is up there with it – amazing results & better than CD.

ourmaninthenorth – you are welcome to drop me an email, I have been down this route extensively and tried many options into a proper hifi and have learn a lot and have setup a few friends who are very happy too! ericemel at yahoo dot com

I have been with my wife to be for nearly 12 years now.

We have separate monies. I earn more so we do balance things out – I pay all the bills and food, she only pays her half in rent. I put £1k away each month towards *our* house deposit and she same a few £100 I guess. She get about £550 left over I get £800ish. I tend to buy a lot more crap than her, so the spilt works well.

If she runs out I pay and vice versa.

Works perfectly well. I could not imagine how a shared beer pot would work!!!

As for the original posters situation, I think what you are doing is correct – I think penalising for a joint decision not cool at all, just controlling. If I wasn’t workign out I am sure there are other options.

Make your own decisions don’t let other influence.

Love facebook, great for keeping in touch with my family who are dotted around the world. Organising mtb rides, camping trips etc.

Great for really random things like, anyone know what I could use to make a deadmau5 head or anyone know of a barn for rent in Dorset, So & so got dumped, anyone want a beer tonight? – get results every time.

Fully replaced email for 95% of the people I know. I am very strict on my friends list though.

your 1.4 & 1.8’s are great in low light but you have to be spot on with your focusing

Personally I would be considering a 2.8 zoom, hell of a lot more flexible. I am currently considering swapping my 18-200 nikon for 70-200 tamron f2.8

Otherwise get a Mac – and get the educational discount – they give it to anyone these days – jeez I am a highly paid professional and cos I haven’t completed my CIMA (and not going to) I am classed as a student and have a full valid NUS ID. tis a joke!

Its funny – apple owners always rant on how much apples are better than PCs and Android owners rant on how much better Android is better than iPhones.

Moral? Get a PC and a iPhone and don’t rant :)

Depends what is important to you I guess

    iphone owners have more sex

    http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/want-to-have-sex-with-more-people-buy-an-iphone-and-stay-away-from-android-2050327.html

I find android owners very whingy – I know many & its like if you own an android you have to constantly whine about apple, they are always dissing iphones and finding problems with them, while I find iphone owners happier with their choice and not really worrying what the other phone OS’s do and don’t.

30 pairs will last longer than levi’s but at no point will they be nicer. Depends what you are afte I guess.

Go to Selfridges and its easy to find jeans for a £500+, I dont get it, just like some people don’t get a pair of £80 jeans.

    They are all Jeans

I rode from London to Paris on a CX bike. I have also done the south downs on a CX bike.

They are so versatile – but yes not as good offroad as an MTB when things get tricky, and not as fast as a road bike on road (though tbh in the L2P group, there were no disadvantages to the CX)
