Yup pretty much as djglover said.

But in some cases with the right car choice it can work out cheaper than owning most cars too. So your saving can be on car ownership rather than extra salary.

Yes you need the skype app on your ipad2, but it is free

I have been using it for years now – great service. For me the main appeal is the bluray libary but we also use the streaming on both TV (Via mini mac) and on the ipad (in bed!) on a regular basis – but the streaming film choice is limited to say the least!

EVO for sure – most fun car I have driven bar caterhams, not better but more fun than a 911.

Yeah you could get somethign better on fuel – but as my wise brother in law always says: “With the money I save owning a diesel I will but the car I want.”

    He just got a scooby.

I’d go for someone with belt drive building experience. titanium is flexible and belts don’t tend to like that so it’d need to be done right.

slightly off topic but why so few custom aluminium builders?

Speak to Triton bikes – they use Russian grade OT4 which is stiffer than 3/2.5 that is often used.

Apples are for people who want to tell people they are cool and have apples. Or for arty types who don’t know anythign else. Or for the basic user who wants to pay a lot for basic features that just work.

PC’s are for people who can’t afford Apples, or are geeky enough to care about price:performance ratios and can be bothered to get it to work better/faster than an out the box apple.

Personally i would looking into Sonos as a solution – I have tried many options and for me this is the winner for simplicity and function. But you do need some kind of network drive.

Another option is a simple PC or Mini mac – both you can use your ipad/pod/phone as a remote. Assuming your Hifi is near your tv also gives iplayer, c4od.

I am a keeping it simple believer and I run a Sonos and love it. Spotify works a treat out of the box.

I have a ZP90 into a DAC and Hifi & ans S5 in my bedroom – the whole thing is effortless and genius.

They probably work it out if you paid them enough! I have worked with a few middle eastern companies and DHL are the only carrier that will still operate in a War Zone.

Also I did the London to Paris bike ride and they did the logistics, top guys doing a top job. They also sponsor the Manchester Velodrome – so thumbs up from me.

The Sonos looks a nice system but, HOW MUCH?

Haha look at the Naim streaming series for a shock!

BigButSlimmerBloke – the logitech stuff is good, but you do need software on your music server (be it nas, pc, mac, etc) to push music to your player. TO me this is un-needed hassle – I am a simple kinda guy(ish). But the big seller on the Sonos is the multiroom ability.

And once you have you’re first sonos setup you can add more around the house, I have a ZP90 (digitally into a decent hifi) in my living room and S5 in my bedroom – bloody love the way it all syncs the music.

Will wire one into the bathroom at some point!

I ditched my cd player with no regrets at all. CD’s for me is now an archive format.

I still buy cd’s – they get ripped to HDD and archived. I eventually moved to a Sonos system as I found it preferable to a PC.

has anyone ever bought an amp that needs EQ?

Damn right my old technics LOUDNESS button was amazing with a pair of 1210s plugged in and some sizable JBLs!

But we’re not talking Hifi here :)

    ericemel

Do any high end amps have equalizers? Even mid price ones?

You tend to buy the amp you like the sound of rather than one that needs EQ

I’d rather spend thousands of pounds (if I was intending to spend that money) on going to see live performances of the artists I was interested in, rather than sitting on my own in a room listening to my ‘hi-fi’.

    I like both :)

    Totally agree with you joolsburger
