Cheers. Can the battery be damaged by leaving it connected on charge one it’s green?

Zangolin, it was pretty aweful here at 9.30, but it stopped raining by 10.30 and the sun even showed by lunch time. Just me and Edward showed – we’re hard core lads you see

Had a crackin’ ride over to Croft, though the cafe was out of my favourite Wigmore Cider so I had to make do with a cup of tea. Not so hard core afterall :( .

The trails weren’t anywhere near as muddy as I thought they’d be, so there weren’t even any Giraffe on ice moments. Views from Croft iron age fort were fab, as was the view from the top of the Vinnalls near the end of the ride.

Boo to the slackers, you missed a tidy ride!

I’m running the same ride again on Sunday 5th July. The sunshine has been pre-ordered :D

Anyone got some beam pics to post please? Still waiting for mine to be delivered

Zangolin, we’ve certainly had some rain – about 10 hours solid I reckon! I can see some comic moments coming on the muddy trails in the morning

Hopefully see you at 9.30 in the morning!

    Any more takers?

Dave E I’d usually tag along, but I’ll be a lazey toad all next week in prep for the Rough Ride at Kington next Sunday.

It was all lovely in the Wyre last night. So was the sauage, chips and beans in the Duke afterwards :-)

    Landlords jokes haven’t improved though!

    What Kimbers said.

£150 will get a good bike capable of anything. Street bikes are heavier than most race type bikes.

Ring round a few local bike shops to see if they have anything second hand, as they will have given anything they sell a quick check over to make sure it’s safe and in working order.

OK, I’m game on, so are a few more locals, so lets have a roll call please! Who’s else wants to tag along this Sunday 7th?

I can confirm it will be a 9.30am start from High Vinnalls car park. Ride will include the cafe stop at Croft. If the rain doesn’t spoil it there will also be some tidy views from both the top of the High Vinnals and Croft Ambrey, so pack your camera!

I’ve just been checking Sunday’s weather and it doesn’t look too great :-(

At the moment the weather men are unsure quite how much rain will be falling on Ludlow come Sunday morning, but it look like alot! So I propose checking again on Saturday when they make their minds up, then I’ll post again to confirm the ride is still on.

As it stands I’ll still be doing the ride, but some folks may find this ride very hard going in the wet. I know I do!

For anyone wanting to do the Mortimer/Bircher/Croft/Mortimer ride on Sunday 7th June, I’m planning on a 9.30am start from the High Vinnalls carpark of the Mortimer Forest. Keep an eye out here for comfirmation this Friday/Saturday, but unless the heavens dump the Atlantic on Ludlow I’m game on. I will also run this same ride again on both Sunday 5th July and Sunday 26th July for those who can’t make it on the 7th June.

There will be a cafe stop at Croft for a snack/lunch, or you can bring sarnies. The cafe isn’t cheap as it’s Nat Trust but it’s all good stuff.

The ride itself won’t be fast, as I’m a firm believer in the pace of the slowest rider (usually me!), but there will be a good mix of technical singletrack, fireroads, cheeky trail and some back lane. Come self sufficient!

Directions to carpark: From Ludlow head south out of town on the B4361, take the 1st turning on the right just over the bridge after the Charlton Arms. High Vinnalls car park is about 2.5 miles up & over this road towards Wigmore. OS Grid Reference: SO474731.

If you need to ask any questions email me at: benwilliams70ATgooglemailDOTcom

See you on the 7th June!

I was incorrect above, it’s actually on the drive side:

Bearback, you’re kind of correct, I do work in my LBS. But I’m subject to the same time scales and warranty process as the public (return to Scott warranty in uk, wait for them to examine it, then they despatch a replacement). This could be 4 days, it could be 10 if they’re busy.

It’s just the hassle factor than annoys me. I don’t often treat myself to a new bike, so hoped for a few years trouble free riding, as you would. Our workshop won’t be removing/re-building it as they’re seriously stacked out for 10 days with custom build. It’ll just be me back home in the corner of my garage, with a beer of course.

I’m running home made tubeless on the front of my Scott. I’m using a wire bead tyre though and have no problems (I weigh 96kg and descend hard):

Tyre – Conti Vertical wire bead on an Alex 44 XC rim.
Rim strip made from 24″ tube, seated on rim with tub tape.
Sealant is home made and put about 30ml in – 1/3 Liquid latex, 1/3 Washing up liquid, 1/3 Neat screen wash.

I’m running 30PSi and it never slips round or rolls off. It’s worked so well that some time next week I’m converting the rear the same way.

Sounds like the ADvantage may just not be the right tyre for this kind of thing?

Dave, are you free for my Mortimer-Bircher-Croft ride on 6th July? Should be a good one with a nice cafe stop for lunch :-)

If not, then I’m repeating the ride on the 26th July by the looks of it (if Stu’s nails have dried ;-) )

Nice one shinsplints, I’m looking forward to this one. It’s my favourite local ride (and not just ‘cos there’s lunch/cider enroute!)

I’ll keep you informed through this thread.

Just ordered too :-) Can’t be any worse than my old lumicycle lights anyway!

I’ve got a helmet mounted Light & Motion Stella 200 which it pretty handy, and an old set of Lumicycle 10w/12w halogens set up on the bars at the moment.

Hang on, it’s summer! Why am I blowing my hard earned on lights?!

Stu, 26th July is probably best then? Or are you washing your hair that day? ;-)

Stu, probabaly best you give me a suitable July date then!

The only July date I can’t do is 12th, as we’re running the Devil Ride sportive roadie event that Sunday.

    What can you do?

    Epic

Ok, I’ll do a Mortimer-Bircher-Croft ride on the 7th June for those interested and then how does Sunday 5th July sound to everyone for the same again?

Stu, I’m planning an easy ride around the Wyre this Monday morning if you or anyone else if free? About 10am from the Duke?

    Shameless plug, but…

We (Epic Cycles) do the Bianchi Via Nirone with Shimano Sora & Ambrosio wheelset for £649. Or same with Shimano RS10 wheel upgrade for £719. We also do a Campagnolo Xenon version but can’t remember the price – think it’s £699. Very nice standard of finish on the Bianchi’s too:

    null
I rate this bike very highly for the money and it’s a tasty alternative to your usual Treks, Specialized’s and Giants.

On my day off tomorrow, but ask for Phil and he’ll look after you

Ok Stu. I’ll still do this for the 7th June, but will also organize the same again in July anyway.

Is there a date in July that will suit you guys? I rarely do enduro’s or races, so never pay attention to the dates you see!

    Ok, 7th sound good then.

Anyone else interested just post on this thread, and I’ll keep you updated on times/places closer to the time.

Ah! I see the mix of alcohol & riding combined was too tempting ;-)

What ever suits you guys. Was thinking either Sunday 1st or Sunday 7th June. After that I have Rough Ride, then I’m off to Morzine. Or we can make it a Sunday in July if you prefer.

Alternatively I can do in in June AND and July. It’s my fav local big ride. That and i like Wigmore Cider!

    Thanks folks.

Might plan a longer Ludlow ride in a few weeks time if anyone’s interested. Same start location at Vinnalls, heading out through Mortimer Forest singletrack and then further over to the trails on Brircher Common and Croft Ambrey (an Iron age fort), then back to the Mortimer. Nice cafe lunch enroute at Croft too (they do a good Ploughman’s and serve Wigmore Cider) :-)

Anyone interested? I’ll try and book better weather this time ;-)

Sickened by the good weather in Slowmedown’s pics !

This was our STW Forum ride round Ludlow this morning. Not great images because before these few blue sky shots it absolutely p!$$ed it down for an hour!

Cheers for coming along today folks!

Biblical rain at the start had me worried for the 6 of us, but then the sun shone through to make it a pretty good ride. I hope you enjoyed it!

I was glad of a hot bath when I got home though!
