    Stomp on its head.

err… I have thought of that, but there I am 1/2 way up a steep climb, straddling the bike with it’s nashers 6″ away from my leg. I though about dismounting and then shoving the bike at it, but I did not want to cock my leg in it’s face for obvious reasons.

    Liking the fire extinguisher tho…

Ms Enveetee and I have done it every year for the last 25 or 26 years on our tandem.

We live in Brighton, about 12 years ago or so they stopped taking bikes on trains so getting up to Clapham was a pain – Now we cycle both ways, leave Brighton at 6 (ish) Egg McMuffin brekky on the way, arrive Clapham about 12 ish. Then cycle back. The roads are less crowded mid afternoon, we still get in at 5ish or so

It’s a bike ride for a good cause, not a race, a fantastic day out – don’t miss it

Get yourself up onto the SDW and head East in the morning so you’ll have the West breeze behind you on your return. Or go to Brighton via Devils Dyke to the East.

    It’ll be hot and busy…

Waiting for the military coup in Greece…

Government imposes more austerity in order to secure another bail-out
    Social unrest/rioting becomes more violent
Government instructs army to put down unrest using ‘force’
Army refuses [to open fire on it’s citizens]
    Result: Coup

I would def NOT start further distracting a phone-using-motorist by banging on their roof/beeping my horn/shouting or anything else.

The use of the phone puts their attention capacity at its upper limit, adding a further distraction could have dire consequences for either you or an innocent 3rd party road/pavement user

‘…I woz driving along using my phone me Lud when this cyclist type thumped my roof, I mean, I got such a shock I drove into the bus queue killing all the little childrens…’

Leave well alone, there’s nothing much you can do about it…

Look on your ‘leccy bill and see how much you’re paying for a Kw Hour – About 11p if I can remember correctly

    So, dividing 1Kw by 150W you get about 6hrs 30 mins for 1 Kw/Hrs worth of juice @ 11p

New shape? Do you mean the New Shape or the New New Shape!?

There have been several recalls – check yours has been dealt with

    Rear coil springs break

    Drives like a big car

Auto box is very very smooth

Unlike the VeeDubs, you’ll not need a new drive shaft every 40K

You can get good servicing deals if you’re into that sort of thing

Try and avoid the V6, you’ll drive it like a sports car and it’ll drink fuel – the 150 BHP version with an auto box is best

    Chews front tires.

STWers what is middle age like

People start ignoring you and you have to start explaining things.

I said; PEOPLE START IGNORING YOU AND YOU HAVE TO START EXPLAINING THINGS

(See what I did there, used capitals to show I was shouting to emphasize the ignoring bit)

    Oh forget it.

Not owned one but a friend did in the mid 80’s

He decided to swap the engine for a better/larger capacity one – 1800 to 2000 if I remember correctly

As an experiment on the old engine, he treated it to SLICK 50 (an oil additive) then drained the oil and drove it for 50 miles to see if it would seize – it didn’t

He then put it on his drive and put a brick on the accelerator to see how long it would last – made an awful noise. Eventually the neighbors complained about the smoke and general din.

    It never blew up

    I was there

    It’s true

Don’t know anything else about them

I too can’t walk past another human being who is in distress without helping, however you can make things worse.

Try not to give cash. If she’s got some sort of addiction, you could be fueling it. Also, giving money makes them vulnerable to attack.

Firstly, make sure she’s has food, warm clothing and something to sleep on/in – think about the rain and cold.

Secondly, get in touch with your Social Services. Here in Brighton we have several Out Reach centers. Make sure she’s aware of them, they can be helpful and have experience. It can be hard but try not to duplicate your efforts.

Try and enter some sort of dialog, maybe she’s more comfortable speaking to another woman.

Engage the security guards, do they have some history about her.

Finally, many, many people living rough have mental issues.

Well done on your efforts so far, good luck and keep us updated.

Any expense you incur in the legitimate pursuance of profit is allowable against Taxation.

I write software, any development software/hardware I buy is allowable.
Any courses I go on to use said development software is allowable against tax.

Remember, you use the cost of the training and qualifications to reduce your profit, which is then subject to taxation. You don’t deduct the cost of the training FROM the tax you have to pay!

    I have a Lumix.

I find the lack of viewfinder a pain.

The reflection on the LCD or whatever it is screen makes it impossible to see what you are pointing the camera at.

Menu’s are a bit naff as well

    WTF??!!???

    What happened? Poor bugger

Man, that cat should be INSIDE with a wound like that.

Worst case – Infection, weeping abbsess, drainage tubes, nasty, nasty nasty

Stitches are just mechanical devices to keep the wound closed while it heals, you could use super glue (I have on myself). Any STERILE thing will do.

Did I mention it should be inside?

abatty – Hey, yeah, I remember you. Well done: Great ride.

I got in 3rd last of a group of 8 or so. When we got to Alfriston, we were told the check point was closing at 19:00 instead of 19:30, we had 15 minutes to spare

From Alfristion to the end we were ‘shadowed’ by one of the volunteers (sweeper) He just kept behind us and we could only see his shadow in the low Sun – creepy. Just kept behind us – reminded us of that Top Gear episode with the VW…

On my return to Brighton, I saw 3 pushing up the road near Cuckmere Haven in the pitch dark. Poor buggers, they were late, lost and knackered. I wonder how they got on – no news of anyone being run over!

Next year they are apparently running just one event, not the three. We’ll see how it goes

    Next time…

Did it on the 25th in the pouring rain and mist – crap – Cramps got me at 65 miles because I did not drink enough

Having another crack at it on Saturday

Pay attention when you leave the QE Country park place, you can easily end up back at the car park having climbed out of the park.

Did I mention it’s shite in the wet?

That’s a pretty taught washing line. What knots are you using to secure it?
