    Problem is, it’s not.
While RRP on a named jersey may be in the high 40’s or early 50’s what you actually pay is a lot less. It’s easy to pick up a Troy Lee, Royal or Fox jersey for £30 or less if you look around.
I understand what you mean but I guess I was making the comparison with T-shirts. £20-25 for a good quality printed one from the shops or £7 if you go to a shirt printer with a design to put on it.

So is screen printing what Troy lee and Royal etc use?

Was only speaking to a chap the other day who had his bike stolen out of his car from that car park. It’s not just there, it’s anywhere that the scabby little thieves know is a regular MTB car park and will probably produce the goods.
The fact you have asked means you have your doubts, you will never forgive yourself if you take it now and it gets nicked.
valleydaddy is right, bring it another day.

I have one, bought new and 1 year old with 16,000 miles on the clock. I drive it 60+ miles a day and it’s a pleasure. Fill it up once a week, good for 50mpg even at 80 mph and you would be very surprised at how nippy it is. You need to use the revs but it surprises many a car off the lights. handles like a go cart and with the front seat folded flat fit is a medium mondraker Summum (Long, Long bike) with the front wheel removed.
Cons: A little noisy but what do you expect for a car that weighs as much as a matchbox?
Go for it, cheap, eco friendly motoring.
If you are anywhere near Gloucestershire you are more than welcome to come and see it, I’ll even take you for a spin so you can judge for yourself.

And no, I didn’t drop it, I stopped as we decided to session the jump and get a few vids!!

    Englishmastiff

    Ha,ha,
That first video is me, hadn’t watched that for ages!
Robin, everyone says this and it sounds really patronising but……It really is easy. As with all these kind of drops, be it 2 foot or 15 foot, a little more speed is your friend. The reason the guy in the other video went over the bars is because he was going too slow. The ground will come up to meet you without you doing anything, try to remember that as you go over the edge. If you ghosted your bike over that drop with no rider, I’ll bet it would land both wheels at the same time , it’s very natural.
It’s the lack of view that causes people to brake at the last minute which is why it goes wrong, not enough speed.
In fairness, in the two years since my visit, it has probably got a bit more worn and is a bit higher but this was done on a pitch with 6 inches of travel set hard for the climb up. If you are on a DH rig, you will be fine.

Go back, DON’T sit there watching and thinking, just hit it and get on with the day. Most of my crashes happen when I spend ages getting wound up about a jump I know I can do rather than just doing it!!

Good luck, let us know WHEN, not if you clear it.

Loads if info, thanks. I need at least 7 seats though so most of the 4×4 estates are out. People carriers are out as the rear passengers are too close to the rear window. I have looked at everything, E class’, peugeot 307’s, Vitos’, Viano’s, etc, etc, etc.
    Any other ideas?

I flew out with friends in July.
I am not someone who takes things lying down but there was NO argument on this one. The suitcase was 20k and the bike was 32kg. They are right, there is no official bike limit, but Easy Jet will refuse anything over 32kg due to H&S for the baggage handlers.
So much so that we were ripping bits of cardboard off the bike box to get it down to 32KG.
To be on the safe side, I would limit yourself to 20kg for the suitcase and 32KG for the bike.
    Hope that helps.

Sorry to upset the theory, but I only put rim tape on as I was running a tube. I don't normally run rim tape, just ust tyres and still have the problem. Oh well, a set of Deemax will be going cheap soon, I can't live with them.

    Thanks for the help.

It took three of us an hour to mount a tyre today. I am fine with any other wheels and like you, normally only use my hands but these are in a different league.

I did the same thing 10 years ago. I moved from Finchley to Stroud 10 years ago. I understand what people mean about "grubby" Don't read that to mean dirty, just very"green" The toen itself is actually very nice if you take time to look around but has been over run by pound stores and cafes selling lentil and oatmeal lolipops and the like.
To be fair, I live in North Woodchester which is just outside the main town, quieter and less crammed in than the town.
It has the big 3 supermarkets in the town and all the shops you could ever wish for in a small town. It has a nice canal which is being developed over the next 5 years or so and is surrounded by common land giving acres and acres of land to explore. The air is noticeably cleaner than London, the people nicer and willing to talk (don't all jump on me if your from London, it's my personal view!!) and is generaly a lovely place to live.
Cribbs causeway is a huge, london sized shopping development and is 1/2 an hour away, Bristol, Bath (stunning), Gloucester (not so much), Cheltenham and other smaller towns and villages are all half and hour or so in any direction.
more than enough riding for a lifetime and of course a fantastic uplift service at the Forest of Dean which is 40 mins away (shameless Plug)

Hope that helps? f you need any more help, just ask.

Cheers and good luck with the move.

I wrote this very quickly so sorry about the numerous grammatical errors.

5 of us going, staying at Chalet Sherpa, out of the lift and about 5 mins walk left. There is a BBQ on a wednesday night. You bring the food, they cook it for free. It's always a good night. Anyone staying in Morzine, pop over and say hello.

    Hi all,
Yes you can ride all the trails on a hard tail. If you look at photo three and four on the website gallery, you will see a hardtail. This was being ridden by a very, very well known member of the MTB world.
Those photos were taken on the press day. There were 10 inch Santa Cruz V10's and hard tails (as well as 2 prototype bikes, hush hush) All enjoyed it and got a lot out of the trails. It's one of those places that is as big or as small as you want it to be.
There will be more detailed videos of the trails going on the web site this weekend so you can see the trails in full.
Any more info, please feel free to email me.

    Cheers all,

    happy riding,

    Simon

I found Magix realy easy to use and it was less than £30 from memory. I now use a mac so can't use it anymore but after a few hours tinkering, I produced a fairly good job from 26 gig of Morzine footage, ended up being just under 45 minutes long, in time with the music with lots of titles and edits.

MG ztt 135 cdti. Diesel, 45+ mpg. It was the series of MG built under BMW and as a result, the quality shines through. Make sure you get the diesel as thats the 2l BMW lump, BMW supplied the wiring loom, electrics, audio visual and loads of other bits, including the fuel filler cap!! For 4k, you will get an 04/54 with EVERYTHING on it. good power, good handling. My only caution to you would be the tyre, goes through them quite quickly.
The equivalent BM would be 7k.
Parts are still readily available and will be for years to come.
Since I got my mine, another friend saw it and got one and another friend is looking at one now and looks like he will but it.

    Good luck finding one

    Lovely, thanks for that.
How do you get on with yours? Seem to be hard pushed to find a bad review. Can't wait to ride but can't build it up until head set problem sorted.
Can you check to see if there is any diameter info on your head set?

    Thanks.

Funny that, I have just come off the phone to my brother in law. Commencal supreme (£2,700 worth)bought from Evans last year. it's been in twice for rear linkage problems. Mechanic said it was the shock bushes (which it so clearly wasn't) BIL said it just needed tightening and as he didn't have the tools, could he do it. The mechanic refused to do it, said he was too busy!!! Manager spoken to but still the mechanic refused to and nearly squared up to my BIL!! It would have taken 30 seconds with the right tools.

I think Evans need to be aware that they are not particularly cheap ( the adverts showing their £1999 bikes on sale for £1987 always makes me chuckle)in comparison to the likes of CRC and there is plenty of customer choice. Simply for what happened to my BIL today means I won't spend another penny in there as long as a ride a bike.

XC steve. I do the alpine trip each year so feel i will need the 203 rotors. Have been looking at the new saints, M4's and codes. All nearly twice the weight of the XTR, not as Gucci and nowhere near twice the performance.
Any other opinions before I get my wallet out?

    Englishmastiff

Yeah, that's what I thought. I have just bought a Mondraker Summum in small so the frame will be ridiculously light (for a DH bike) want to keep it that way. I understand what you mean by reducing the wheel weight but I do like big drops and jumps, not hard on the brakes, but very hard on the wheels so I wan't the Deemax.
As I said, I was struggling to understand the difference between old saint and new XTR.
But the general concensus is that XTR will be fine then??

The victims code asks offender what THEY want to do about something, not what the police think SHOULD be done. In many cases, victims just want the offender spoken to, something the police would never do, they would arrest and go the whole hog, even if the victim didn't want this action taken (drunken night out, minor fight with friends for example).
This obviously doesnt apply to domestic violence where the victim is rarely able to make a free choice, so police do it for them.

    Englishmastiff

The police now work with the "victims code" you are the victim which means that what you say goes. Far too many people are put off with silly reasons why this cant be investigated. Its a VAP (violence against the person) offense which ties in nicely with the governments key issue at the moment which is ASB (anti social behavior) I would say that if you put your foot down and demand the CCTV is at least checked, there will be little the police can do other than take on your request.
If they don't…complain. I agree that this shouldn't be allowed to happen.
It's "only" a common assault, which with a clean record assuming he admits it will be a caution. If however he goes round doing this on a saturday night pissed up( with a fuse as short as his, I suggest he does), there is a fair chance he will get his day in court.
If he can be identified on CCTV then your friends can make a statement. 4 V's 1 = CPS charge.

    Steve,

    Thanks.
I need ideally a wheelchair access!!(that's stumped you hasn't it!!) T% has to be a caravelle or a transporter and has to be the 2.5 130.
As you can imagine, with that criteria, there is not much about!
I would love to go for a newer modal but with a 10k max budget, I simply can't afford it as they hold their prices so well.
I have looked at the Vito dualiners too but we use them at work and build quality is shocking, all of the 04's are rustly and a lot of the 06's are well on their way, not ideal!!
if anyone can find anything with that critera, LET ME KNOW. i need this van within a month!!

Interesting. Please keep the advice comming. I need as many opinons as I can get. It is going for £9,500 and is a tip tronic auto box if that matters?
I think what seems to be the common thread is that if the turbo hasn't gone by now, it will do soon. What price did you pay for the turbo replacement?

    Enfht,

It's not the police's choice to pursue a prosecution, it's the CPS. To be frank, it's rare they bother with prosecutions against police officers as they should"accept that they are likely to come into conflict as part of their job" Which in fairness, I agree with. You want to be safe, be an accountant, you want to see life raw, be a police officer. Just don't moan when people take a disliking to you.
I think in this case, it was pursued as the little turd had no idea it was a police officer. If he had, he wouldn't have done it which makes it all the worse.

Got a THE las vegas helmet that I sent back 12 days before the 12 month warranty was up. They didn't have a replacement in stock so sent me a las vegas carbon instead at no extra cost. I would highly recommend them based on that alone.
Everything that I have purchased off them has been with me very quickly.
They are on my list of favorite bike shops that I always check to compare prices.

    Walleater,
agreed, but I and 99.99% of people who buy it are not world cup riders. How do we know there were no problems?? not something they would advertise unless it were a catastrophic failure on TV. Team bikes are replaceable items.
If you are putting something to market, you need to make sure that you are 100% happy with the product testing. For Trek, there is no excuse to release a sub standard product.
Go back to GT's DHi, how many rear shock mounts failed? That was not due to "weekend warriors", it was due to bad design, bad manufacture and unforgivable product testing.
Then the next GDHi (which i ride but with the up rated 08 swing arm). Again the distributors and gt know that the majority of swing arms cracked. Weekend warriors? No, GT trying to release the lightest stock DH bike ever made. Did they succeed? yes they did, but they released a product only fit for team riders who didn't pay for the frames and have another 3 in the team van should one fail, not for the likes of you and me.
In fairness, GT should have taken a battering in lost sales through customer confidence failing. Somehow, they survived but with two flagship bikes in a row having serious problems, they should have paid the ultimate price.
I know a bloke that is (or was) riding a 88 with epoxy and gaffer tape holding the frame together, a very talented rider by all accounts.

Love all the suggestions and there are some really unusual frames. Thanks for the help and again, keep them coming.

Some fantastic ideas, thanks, I do like the Mondraker and if t has a lifetime warranty, that helps towards stopping the worry. Problem with warranties is service. i remember the Commencal problems a year or so ago, great warranty, but took 3 months to get the frame back to you, which isn't really a warranty.
Turner DH is lovely but have a deep seated mistrust of low GOG swingarms. I my mind, a wide spaced 3 bar gives far more support to the bearings. i have a tendency to flick out the rear on landings which causes a huge amount of lateral stress on the bearings. I always picture, rightly or wrongly much more stress on this area for bikes like super dh's Ancilloti's, evils, dhr's etc.
I had an old DHR which had an ovalised pivot bolt housing, that went to the skip as it was unfixable and was too old to warranty.
Walleater, Disagree I'm afraid. I would suggest that you would get far more stress on a frame from a full on dh run than from weekend warriors. Either way, there are confirmed issues with the 88 which for the price of the frame, I wouldn't accept. It annoys me when bikes are released and have problems. If your average joe can break a frame it hasn't been tested properly and shouldn't be released.
It is however a lovely looking frame.
    hanks all, keep it comming!!

Foes have never really caught my eye, but to be fair, that is a nice bike.
Intense 951, nice and yes I have considered it
Empire are supposed to be very heavy are they not? I weigh 10 stone so a small flickable bike is really important.
I will check out the others.
Intense Uzzi, no not a DH bike but I only get to ride a couple of times a month at the moment. I have a pitch and the GT. Given the choice, I will always go for the GT. The Uzzi is capable of both FR and DH and is a great Alps tool. I could justify the cost of an all rounder as it will be replacing two bikes. But, then I also do the odd XC ride!.
