You’re probably best off just having a ride about in the woods and seeing what you can find as some of the xc route has gone, though with the recent weather it will be dirtier than a slack ringed tramps arse!

The other side of the road from the carpark is where they put in a run for the Steel city dh that might have held up better due to its rockier nature!

Stanage should be fairly drained apart from the blacka plantation bit!

you did the right thing sending them back, CRC packaging is shocking! can’t believe they think it would be acceptable to put your childs safety at risk like that!

Check out the classifieds for a guy selling dt swiss exm 150 forks, I run them on my bfe and there great, light for a 150 fork, plenty stiff with 15mm axle and torsion box. Launch control for the climbs.

I previously had u turn revs but could never be bothered to drop them down while out riding and the dt’s are a much better controlled fork.

Haven’t found the need or missed having lock out due to adjustable low speed compression. I weigh more than you and they have never missed a beat!

the sram clutch mechs have a little button for taking the wheel out, basically it locks the cage forward taking the tension out of the chain. its ace!

I had an automatic Audi a4 that had 8 gears, it was that smooth that you didn’t notice any change in gear, I only noticed it had 8 gears when in semi auto and you moved up them sequentially. I wouldn’t worry about it!

Yep you can get wide base cogs that hardly do any damage to a pro 2 hub. Like mentioned above the cassette will be fine until you try to take it off. Use something like copper slip to make your life easier.

dizcostix probably knows what he’s talking about – he spends more time cleaning and polishing his bike than riding!

Yep got a works components slack set in my v2 el guapo, 1 degree of extra slackness added. No negatives that I have experienced, feels great downhill and still climbs nicely due to suspension design. I doubt 2 degrees would feel any different!

the stanage edge ride in the ‘dark peak’ route book is great and only a mile or 2 from hathersage.

easyish climbs, good descents and should be fairly clean, with the exception of blacka plantation. 27 km so about right and you can push back up at the end for an extra descent.

I got some dt swiss ex1750 decals from there about 3 months ago, they turned up pretty quick and were good quality.

Yep, pushed dhx 5 on my el guapo, ti spring so not as much of a weight penalty, and it’s great round trail centres and the peaks!

I’d like the ability to adjust the low speed compression as the fork is on an all mountain bike so, this would help it climb a bit better and still retain the plushness of a coil fork, also to have a more controlled rebound action, the fox is ok but doesn’t feel as good as my dt swiss fork on my hardtail.

Mainly looking at it as an alternative to shelling out for the 55 ti, which I understand to be a great fork with long service intervals but the avy looks to be easy to self service/tune in the future. Weight isn’t really of an issue, I had considered the deville but lack of UK service centre/spare part availability puts me off!

Cheers Loco, I didn’t realise the new fox bits could be retro fitted, will bear that in mind. do you know how much that damper unit would cost?

Messiah if you beat me to the order button I would be interested to hear how you get on with the Avalanche.

i have one in my camelbak, quite small but has a few plasters, antiseptic wipes, wound dressing, sling and a saline wash, not had to use it in 3 years.

Was prompted by a mate who sliced his knee open at the top of Avoriaz and had a couiple of friendly walkers not been around could have been a bit nastier!

I use the mowa ones and as above you need pliers to open and secure them, but then they are hooked under the guide so stay put. It was either that zip ties or buying a job lot of the plastic ones and having a few in the backpack incase you lose them while riding!

I have 6 c clips on mine, 2 down the right side and 2 down each of the seat stays! The guides on the left side are doubles so I couldn’t fit c clips and just used a zip tie to keep both cables in place! If you have a reverb the little hose connecting clips are very useful.

    Hope that helps

I got the v2 el guapo back in April with the monarch shock and it was fine, didn’t blow through the travel too easily and the dial to change the compression was easy to use on the go and great for climbing. I now run a dhx coil as I had always planned to run a coil shock on it but if the dhx was away for service I wouldn’t hesitate to put the monarch back on as it works perfectly with the frame in my experience!

I have the truvativ noir one that I use on my BFe, not the lightest carbon seatpost but apparently bombproof! Certainly takes out some of the trail buzz! I would buy one agin if I had to.

I haven’t done many all day rides on it, but a few over 4 hours and its been fine, with my fitness and gearing choice the limiting factors, no reason with a few choice parts and air suspension front and back you could get near the 30lb mark!

I’m 5’10”, inside leg of 30″. I’m in Sheffield so ride peaks, sherwood pines and
Cannock fairly regularly if you can make it to one of them you’re welcome to have a go. Email is in profile if
You want to sort something out?

Size medium in both, slightly longer top tube on the el guapo, I think it climbs a bit better than the enduro and going down is at least as good if not a bit better, just feels very balanced and well controlled both up an down. The reason I got rid of the enduro was that I snapped the chainstay and lost a bit of faith in the frame, they look a bit beefier on the titus which is a bonus.

I love mine, bought frame only back in may an it’s built up pretty tough with 36 vans on the front and dhx coil rear, saint cranks, 1×9, hadley/flow wheels, elixir brakes, reverb and it weighs 33lb which I don’t think is bad at all! It ride really well, climbs nicely and great downhill. I prefer it to the 2006 enduro I had for years and the mythic rune I had previously!

On the cure thing, if you accidentally get porked in the rectum and realise the perpetrator was shooting you full of HIV, you can take a high dose of antiretrovirals within the 1st few days to have a chance of it developing into positive HIV!

I have a stinger on my bfe for just this reason, I just run the chain under the roller instead of over and it acts as a chain block making chain suck impossible!

I have a pair of dt swiss 5.1 rims which I think are the older version of the ex500, I have a dt swiss tubeless rim kit in them and the are by far the easiest re I have made go tubeless!

Done maxxis, schwalbe and even a none tubeless ready panaracer tyre with just some stans fluid and a track pump. I couldn’t believe how easy it was! Would be cheaper and less hassle than new rims as well.

you will need to have the cranks drilled and helicoiled, I have had this done in the past by a car engine repair company as they had all the tools required, cost me about £30 i think.

if the threads on the pedal have also been damaged you will need a new axle.

I’ve got a v2 one which from what I gather is pretty much the same, I find it a really nice bike to ride, better than the 2006 spesh enduro and a 2010 mythic rune I had previously. Builds up pretty light as with coil front and back, saint cranks and Hadley/flow wheels it comes to about ~33lbs.

Did have the cable rub issue but a bit of helicopter tape sorted that out!

Bb is noticeably lower than the rune I had but that was quite high, fortunately I’m not a retard so haven’t had any issues with peddle strikes and it has been ridden around the peaks and most northern trail centres so plenty of rocky climbs.
