Bar bar back sweep. sorry, couldn’t resist.😁
When I went for more backsweep I went higher rise at the same time then ran minimum spacers under the stem, I always roll bars back a touch to minimise upswept, its always worth experimenting with roll, i think when bars got wider they should have got more backsweep, an older narrow bar with 7° was rideable but that same degree at 800mm would feel awful to me.
I spent a long time finding the right width and settled at 770mm, I’ve also found bar height is key and its often overlooked, seeing as headtubes can range from around 90mm to 130mm and the longer the headtube the harder it is to weight the front but people never consider a longer stem in those situations, its possibly the most important thing for me so I stick to the same bar height when changing bikes.

I remember when it was on eurosport with that numpty who couldn’t pronounce Nicolas vouilloz’ name, I can’t see discovery getting the vibe right or giving Rob Warner a job. Its gonna suck and cost money, double whammy.

All my stems with m5 bolts using a 4mm allen key say 5nm for the face plate, an old truvativ stem I’ve got with m6 bolts says max 6.8nm.

It’s a used fork, you don’t know the history of, the fact they didn’t even try to make it spotless is weird, some bikes have been ridden around in the shops car park cos I’ve actually seen bikes in Evans with a bit of dirt on the tyres before. I’d demand an explanation and further discount.

“young family guy with a job outside the city, not on the public transport network. Loss of licence means poverty”. 😥 😀 if only there was another mode of transport 🚲.
Poetic justice for chasing down and ramming into a cyclist, it could have ended in a fatality so he got lucky, anyone guilty of similar actions I’d turn them into the thing he has no respect for and it maybe the best lesson and attitude adjustment. Give him a tub of chamois arse cream and say on yer bike son.

After my first ‘holy crap this is never going on’ combo, I took a well earned 4 biscuit n brew break after wiping the sweat from my brow and checking my fingernails were still properly attached, I let my new tyres warm up a bit next to the heater then returned with the aid of a wet sponge with fairy liquid on and the use of my feet as well as tyre levers and it finally popped on.

Hit n run and ABH and still no jailtime or driving ban unbelievable.
I wonder how long a wait for that £10,000 and how much the pyscho’s insurance goes up.

Deltacron variant is now starting to appear and spread across the UK, Over 200 covid deaths in one day this week is still a big problem, take away incidental deaths and the contributing and main cause figures are probably still concerning, we dropped down to single figure deaths per day last summer so just when you think we’re winning another variant rears it’s ugly head.

Just checked, couldn’t do it until this morning, 12 clicks in about 2 full turns on mine, it’s an oem 2018 rct, but looks exactly the same as the current ultimate version, apart from the decals.

Dr pepper after discovering Aldi’s own alternative, its zero sugar but actually really nice.
I’ve been teetotal for well over a decade so I do miss southern comfort, bacardi, remy martin and I once had an interesting night on harvey wallbangers and pina coladas when a pub I’d never been in before was having some weird theme night.

I had one swoop into my tree thats 2 metres from my window very early in the morning last year, the sparrows just popped higher up into the foliage out of reach, totally outsmarted the hawk and took the pss staying in the tree, Its only a small 7 or 8ft tree that produces white flowers, I was amazed at the speed it came in at almost horizontally as well, I thought it crash landed at first but it threaded through the branches like it was laser guided and the tree barely moved.

Sram did get back to me with a correction, 18 clicks of rebound give or take 1 is correct for coil.
Seems some folks at Sram don’t know 💩.

Eyeletted rim and sapim leader spokes, dt champion or halo straight gauge, the latter can be picked up cheap, ive got some old wheels with mavic 721 rims using champion spokes and the tension is way higher than modern wheelsets.

Strange then that they didn’t spec the zeb on megas last year, maybe its getting specd more this year and the lyrik in 170 is playing second fiddle now.

A modern geometry Pace rc300 square tubing and anodised would be awesome also a Zaskar LE true to its roots, but LLS also anodised and a carbon Nukeproof that’s got a noteworthy weight saving over the alloy version like other brands seem to manage (Transition for example).

Avoid samsungs, mine keeps altering settings by itself and I can’t seem to type anything without it turning into gibberish, it’s not like I’ve got fat sausage fingers, my biggest phone mistake was trying samsung for a change. My friend and brothers Motorolas have been flawless.

I bought a couple of Oxford deluxe bike display stands off Ebay for around £15 each, the long loop that goes over the wheel is more secure than ones that just hold the bottom half of the wheel, the loop pulls off for better storage when not in use, I painted mine with some hammerite and used some heat shrink tubing were the loop slots into the base so water doesn’t trickle into it and I can even leave them outside, they get used a lot more than my proper bike stand.
Fits 2.4 with a small gap either side so should fit 2.5 too.

Why hasn’t the auto drop dropper been looked into more, didn’t BMC have a prototype 3yrs back, I’m sure girls weighing around 100lbs would appreciate an easier push down, kids droppers could be one answer, but options sizes and amount of travel are limited.

Squirrelking, sorry I upset you and you feel the need to get personal, but turns out you’re still wrong, it’s 3.5J, 2.3 ft/lbs, 360 feet per second, amused that you went to the trouble of trying to look it up.
It was tongue in cheek, I’m not expecting him to get a gun, but if my guy comes back hes probably getting shot in the arse, especially if he is bold enough to carry on and not leg it the second I spot him, it’s my word against his, no witnesses, deny everything.😀

Oh well, I can live with long cage as I’m already on it, but think 10-45 cassette and gs cage would suit me better, I’d even settle for just the mech and stay off the 51t with a limit screw adjustment, but I can wait, not much choice. I’ve had a few lucky escapes with catching the mech but I’ll probably wreck it on the next ride now I’ve tempted fate.

A camera should be a must with 5 figures worth in the garage, one obvious one as a deterrent and a hidden one to get their ugly mugs unawares. Something to hinder them at the first hurdle of getting onto the property and an early warning system to know they’re coming like a motion sensor that also triggers an audio recording so it sounds like you’re in the garage with a mate or a dog barking before your actual dog does, have some fireworks at the ready and a co2 powered pistol with pointy pellets loaded. (not that I have a walther cp99 handy or anything after an attempted break-in). 😉

Less leverage so less power, but the higher cadence makes up for the lack of leverage/torque, plus if you’re struggling to turn the crank you’re in the wrong gear or on a singlespeed. For acceleration off the line or a sprint to the finish line, 165mm gives you the advantage.

Well, today I spent about 20 mins on the road between trails and committed the ultimate no no of hopping onto the pavement instead of waiting at the red light and received a beep from the guy at the lights, but why get so knarked by it, there wasn’t any pedestrians present for me to endanger and I was removing myself from situation when the lights go green so they don’t have to worry about me being there, then about 10 mins later I mounted the pavement to overtake a mature couple riding two abreast, I shortly returned to the double yellows only to hear my second and third beep of the day, but those were aimed at the couple a good 30m behind me.
My question is, is it a roadie thing to feel comfortable in the middle of the lane or are mountainbikers doing it to, genuine question as I’d be far too anxious to do it myself.

Personally think 165mm will be spot on for 32″ inside leg, Ive got long legs for my height so about 34″ and love 165mm.

I was gonna comment that the only thing left to upgrade was the cranks but didn’t think you could get decent short ones, nice find, I’m guessing a decent weight saving as well as keeping the blingability going strong with good bb and ring options. Although, it’s becoming an obsession now, but we’re all loving it. 😀
I can see some silver and purple Hope tech4’s in the near future to match the rotors, but that might be a step too far, or not. 😁

Sometimes with some set-ups the caliper will move slightly on the last bit of tightening so those grub screws on the Hayes caliper are a great idea, as long as you use bolts with a small unthreaded section under the head it should give perfect results, using stainless steel grubs won’t corrode and crud can get in through the slotted caliper holes anyway so that’s hardly an issue, the shim over the rotor solution isn’t 100% fool proof either as the rotor can flex, so if you’ve got a stubborn or slightly imperfect caliper or mount it can still uncentre itself.
I think I’ve seen someone do a diy grub screw set up with their Hope calipers on another forum, maybe Hope should follow Hayes lead.

Looking at the flight attendant stuff shows just how busy they’ve been, that chassis has gotta be on the standard ultimates, they’ve paid attention to all the small niggles too, fender threads on the fork braces have been lonnngggg overdue as are those bolt on adapters for non torque cap hubs, the hose routing showing less bias towards lh front brakes is a nice touch, but it just looks so improved and advanced now and possibly worth the money, hopefully the price hike won’t be too painful. Then there’s the new air shaft and damper to take it to next level performance, can’t wait to see what they’ve done.

There’s loads of these failures on the tinternet, definitely a known issue, some say its a geographical issue, certain climates and conditions don’t have anywhere near as many failures, I think peak torque has a YouTube video on it, finger crossed for the warranty claim, good luck.

A thread pitch gauge is always a good tool to have and they’re pretty cheap as are tap n die kits or just a specific tap or die along with the handle can be bought off ebay cheap enough, for example I recently bought a die for a left hand pedal thread to clean up a dodgy axle for under a tenner. You can probably get a thread gauge and a feeler gauge for under a tenner, both are good little tools to have for those random issues and checks.

Brand x is a no brainer, why spend double on a dropper and lumber yourself with one that costs you £95+p&p to service.

Just don’t be honest in the warranty claim 😀, I constantly up travel by 10mm, even 20mm on one occasion, but as above it barely increases the chance. If it was that easy we would all be a few percent away from ripping our headtubes off.
I think Blake on GMBN runs a 170mm lyrik on his Nukeproof Scout.
