Hope M adapter with normal 20mm ish bolts, get rid of the awful type adapter that requires 2 different length long bolts.

My head is 59cm and I wear a medium, also medium for Giro helmets, I find its really well vented and feels lighter than it is, fits much better the flux I once had.

@hb1966 it’s both arms, 175mm, probably got some rings as well but I can’t check until tomorrow as I’m not at home.

It’s funny how Vitus can manage an XT sommet with fox kashima for £4000 but Nukeproof think £5400 is the right price for an equivalent mega, the frame prices only have a £600 price difference, I think most other companies have got together and decided £5500-£6000 is about right for similar spec, even then some do a mix with SLX bits.

I’ve got some FSA isis 4 bolt in good condition somewhere in the loft, if you’re in the uk I can post them Monday for a tenner. you’ll need an old school crank extractor to get yours off.

Hope have a bad habit of using stupid c clips, the ones on their 20mm front hubs were a pita too, and the little one on the tech3 lever is never the same once you’ve taken it off.

There’s not much in it, but seeing as Joe Barnes had his so close to his grips I didn’t think there would be a huge difference, Joe has custom levers though which do look better and are closer to tech3 shape, I typically run my tech3s with an inch gap from my grips so I’m keen to see the shifter mount, shame there’s no underside photos 🙂, but appreciate the comparison pics. I wouldn’t have gone black, the silver versions caught my eye.

As mentioned earlier some complete bike specs just don’t add up price wise considering everything is oem. It used to be way more expensive option to assemble your own custom build, but I reckon with the help of a few sale bargains I could easily beat a few companies with equivalent if not better parts.

I’ve always ridden XT equipped bikes with Hope brakes and hubs, I’m constantly picking up bargains so very rarely pay rrp, usually buy frames instead of complete bikes, but looking at the prices for bikes with XT its quite alarming, when did £5500-6000 ish become normal.
Pretty sure my current set up hasn’t cost me anywhere near that and its all up to date. If it got nicked it’s gonna cost a bloody fortune to replace with all my prefered bits.

Did Parks lawyers have anything to do with the colour change to black on those lifeline sliding T bars.

It might be shown on the BBC like it was last time at Fort bill, although last time the beebs coverage was utter garbage.

Why do they insist on making the back end black on the raw option, surely that’s semi raw or raw/ black. It would look so much better with matching raw stays.

There’s a couple of cheap rockshox deluxe at CRC, at £80 ones worth getting as a back up when you send of your main shock for service.

@speeder, I did say produce not sell, he claims he’s never made a living wage from BTR, so if a frame takes 35hrs ( let’s call it a week) sells for £1700 at least, internal routing, iscg and bottle cage mounts put it closer to £2k, then that suggests after including all his expenses, workshop rent, materials etc, he can’t make the frames for under a grand.

    IMHO 100-120 is xc.
    120-130 down country.
    130-150 trail.
    150-170 enduro.
    170-180 super enduro, milder DH.
    180+ DH.
    Am defunct.

It’s a vanity project rather than a viable one to put it bluntly, if you have to charge that much for a hardtail to make so little you’re doing something wrong, plenty more small businesses struggling and they aren’t shooting themselves in the foot.
If you can’t produce a beautifully crafted handmade in the UK hardtail frame for under a grand, give it up or make some product or production changes.

I’ve used sapim polyax brass nips with spank spike race 33 rims, the spoke holes aren’t offset but I’ve have zero issues and the build was hassle free too.

A bit of grease on the threads and a blast of silicon spray on the rest of the axle. Wouldn’t dream of using threadlock.

I had a really annoying fox pump that was hit n miss, I bought a rockshox one and it never fails and works on everything I’ve tried so far.

Another brands moulded self adhesive chainstay protection that has a similar shape is the way to go, for example Bird owners have had good results with Nukeproof ones. They’re quite flexible so can adapt to a slight difference and the sticky back sections are strong and adhere well when the surface is well prepped and alcohol wiped.

That Paces brake mount is just dumb, makes using a torque wrench impossible without a long extender socket piece, and why design the stays like that, what a stupid pointless shape.

Those trp brakes are just ugly and cheap looking.

I ordered some more of those DT comps at CRC they’re a bargain at £4 for 18, being without nipples isn’t an issue for me, I’ve always use sapim polyax nips and have a healthy supply. Plus you can always buy them cheap enough on ebay.

I got a blue Burgtec to replace my Maxle, they are a tad heavier but reassuringly so and a well made nice bit of kit, I might get a rear one just to colour match, I always use a torque wrench to 10/12nm and never had problems with rounding off axles, make a note of where the writing on the axle head lines up so you don’t overtighten out on the trails.

Why didn’t I notice that my phone decided I meant commute when I typed compute.🤷

I was looking at a Brompton on a train a few years back, the owner saw me looking and we had a nice little chat, judging by the cheap n nasty parts from a different era I thought it was an old one that he’d kept in good nick but it was relatively new. I’m still baffled by the price of them.

How much thought went into the sticky part of the soles pattern before they said f##k it, we got a logo might as well get our money worth, seems like most of their attention went to the heel and toe sections. How much of fivetens success is down to those circles rather than it all being about the magic recipe, I never tried the impacts with the smooth section.

Yeah, 6’3″ on a large doesn’t commute these days, then there’s the discrepancies with one brands large being another brands medium, they should just switch to reach number as a frame size.

Evocycles have some tech3 discounts, its weird how the press haven’t had some samples to verify the power claim before public release, I wanna see the underside of the lever for shifter adapter set up.

Won’t find them in the running section, they’re casual, pub shoe, shopping shoe, like a reebok classics type of category.

Personally I find New balance quite stable and supportive, Reeboks and Nike on the other hand have been the culprit for a few turned and sprained ankles, I own 4 pairs of NB now. 515, 574. Never let me down.
Taking your title literally I’d upload a pair of reebok.

Connex is the ultimate re-usable link if you can actually find one and dont mind the ridiculous price tag for 12sp version, since going 12sp I’ve tried and tried to find one but finally gave up, I just re-use a few times, seems a load of bull and wasteful to use just once.

@bigdaddy, Oh sugar, sorry for any confusion and the delayed response I go offgrid and incommunicado sometimes, no I meant the full length which is 205mm looking at the very helpful picture.
Christ that’s long af, very limited options then. 1.75 205 20.
It’s not for me but the OP, again apologies for not explaining properly and disappearing.

Definitely looks 1.75 with 20mm threaded length, you just need the 12mm shaft length measuring, it’ll be a longer axle than normal because of the split pivot system of the frame which could limit options.

Standard M12 nuts n bolts are 1.75 thread pitch, so readily available and easy to compare, the other 1 is visibly finer pitch.
Google images will show you the obvious difference side by side.

    28mm is the magic number.
