It’s a great tyre in both wet and dry if a bit draggy in dry

Not flaming the guy, just giving my opinion. I’ve seen the Mojo trail diaries and whilst he’s awesome at what he does, I don’t think his riding otherwise is any better than what most on here could achieve. Just my two penneth.

I think he looks uncomfortable when doing anything that doesn’t involve pulling a back flip whereas Chris Akrigg is just a great all round bike handler (plus he’s from Yorkshire)

Chris Akrigg is the better all round rider. Danny Mac, for all his skills is a bit of a one trick pony.

I rode the 3 passes the other week and it was tough going. i’d suggest only do it if you have a good forecast. We got caught in two torrential thunder/lightening storms and ended up wading through deep water on lots of the ups and downs. What should have taken 5-7 hours took 9. On a lighter note, finished with big smiles on our faces and would go back and do it again!

We rode Grizedale on the Sunday and having done so, have decided when we next go to base ourselves in Hawkshead.

Depends where you hold the bars I guess. If you ride on the ends of the grips then there might be an issue. If you hold the bars inwards if you like then aside from the fact they aren’t held as securely, I can’t see a problem.

Each to their own eh? We’d all ride the same bike otherwise.

I’ve had no problems with mine – don’t let a few isolated incidents cloud your judgment.

There is a tyre/seat tube issue but not what i’d call a problem. I run a set of Hans Dampf tyres which are big, tall tyres. I’ve only once had the tyre rub and even then, only to take the mud build up off the seat tube. Running normal 2.3 or smaller tyres won’t cause an issue. Tolerences are tight on bikes these days and manufacturers make recommendations re: tyres sizes, fork lengths etc with good reason.

Are you just after a frame or full build?

Did Gatesgarth, Garburn and Nan-Bield on Saturday which was great but long and tiring. What with having to twice find shelter from thunder and lightening (the 2nd time whilst half way up the ascent of Nan-Bield), it took 8.5 hrs all told. All were very tired and wet having completed this monster but so pleased to have done it. Will be back in better weather to attempt to finish in a reasonable time.

Being so worn out from Saturday, we ended up just riding the North Face yesterday, rather than wandering off to explore. TBH, I was expecting the worst but were pleasantly surprised – the final descent from the top car park to the visitors centre being a particular highlight.

Will be back to explore Grisedale properly in the not too distant future.

Contemplating selling mine to be replaced with a 29er second bike. Will be full build though. Message me if interested to discuss.

First Lakeland trip with the bikes this weekend and doing the 3 passes tomorrow – can’t wait. Grisedale Sunday too.

I was in Les Gets a month ago with my yeti and 180/160 rotors and had no such problems.Your bike will be fine.
