+1 foxyrider’s suggestion. I’ve calorie counted before when I wanted to lose weight and it was a massive eye opener, I was taking in about 800 extra than is recommended for a woman without even thinking about it. Split my diet right down and moderated it. I got to a point when on the days I wasn’t exercising that 900 calories was plenty then 1200 on days when I exercised seemed normal. Weight fell off in about 4 weeks.

Oldgit do you drink? I only ask as my other half carries his weight around his gut and even though he is very fit and healthy it was only when he dropped the booze (primarily 6/7 pints Guiness on a Friday or saturday night and a couple of glasses of wine during the week) that his gut reduced and it’s virtually gone now, it was definatley the drink clinging onto him!

I’ve had about 10 layers on all day as well as having radiators on full blast and a portable heater I’ve been sat on pretty much all day. Couldn’t even write at one point cos I couldn’t feel my hands. It’s due to snow here tonight. Roll on summer I say.

oh blimey, sorry to sound such a girl but there is so much choice, my head is going to explode and I can’t choose. I’ve never been to cannock so wouldn’t mind giving that a go if anyone knows there way around? but that said to be honest I’ll be happy wherever. yep, we always take photos, it’s nice to stop and take in the scenery, it’s one of the reasons we go. It’s nice to have the memories captured too although we don’t tend to take photos if it’s just a quick blast around local trails, just the longer ones or if it’s somewhere we haven’t been before.

oh, apparently I have’t been to bishops castle, got mixed up with somewhere else according to OH! Im a bit dull….

ah, I’ve ridden around Bishop’s castle a few times so have probably ridden somewhere around long mynd once upon a time but not recently. Would be up for a meet round there some time though.

Christmas is a bit overrated I think although I do enjoy the time with my family as it is sadly the only time we make the effort to see eachother sometimes but I see where C_G is coming from. I don’t like the commercial “buy everything/eat & drink yourself into oblivion” side of it

Alpine I believe they may secretly wish they were women and tsy may actually be preparing for gender reassignment surgery but at the moment they appear to be chaps. Although from previous threads they do seem to act more like a pair of old ladies than blokes 🙂

I’m in the west midlands round Herefordshire, so is my moany friend. She hates fod but thinks she’ll be ok with cwm carn & wants to go. I don’t want to dampen her enthusiasm but know she’ll have moaned herself silly by half way up the first climb :-s

I must admit I’ve always liked this place, I’ve never had any problems and sometimes posts have mad me laugh out loud, some have made me sad and one or two have made me cross but mostly it’s all good fun. Was just curious about the number of girls around, whenever we go to bike events tis the same, bout 30 blokes to every woman. Is a shame cos I can’t see what’s not to enjoy (about riding a bike not being surrounded by chaps).

I’m thinking about this to much now, I’m going to bed! 🙂

I’m with tsy with lack of women to ride with although have never had a problem riding with my fella and his mates but they are all very fast and full on iykwim. I hold them up and I don’t really know any women to ride with. One mate does but because of her boyfriend but she just moans all the way round a trail. Constantly. Grrr.

Oh no, that is rubbish. I don’t Get them too often but had a bad throat on and off for a about three weeks recently which finally turned into a heavy cold/ear and chest infection and the worst of the lot was definatly the sore throat. You have my sympathy 🙁
