I think an ipod nano/shuffle mount would be rad.yes,rad.besides.the nano can be used as a watch.

if you get stans in the sales then they’re cheaper.
got some 819s at half price.granted they have machined sidewalls.but I saved 30eu per rim.

schraner says the ‘hammering of the spokes compresses the metal’.
    not an exact quote,but roundabouts.

besides, the question isn’t that.spokes break at the head.not in the middle.

as my nan always says-always use spoke washers.

ha.thanks, but they’re for a couple of extra frames I have on the other side and wanted to build up.

weight should be ok.it’s all road/xc stuff.comes in at about 32
I think I can get 5 wheels in there.plus the frame.and two forks.and two transmissions.and some clothes.one bike and 4 wheels is easyish.
I just hope they don’t ask me to open it up.

    regarding spares.
camera makers used to say the same things about electronic cameras.
    last longer and never break.
but if you look at prices for s-h film cameras it’s the electronic ones that aren’t worth anything.not the older mechanical cameras.

a car is a consumable product.an expensive one.
edit-you can repair a film camera.harder to do with an electronic one.

just mount the rear on one dropout.
    and zipties.for indicators.
    edit.doesn’t work for 20mm axles.
edit2.nor do 20mm forks work for this.

    .
salsas are a bit longer.or contact trailer manuf.
    pitlocks are longer as well.
or some tandem qr.go up to 160 or so.
    you don’t need a new wheel(if it’s shimano).
you can put a solid axle in there.
    edit-i’m so slow.

    agu trousers are pretty sturdy.
but I find the montane stuff more breathable.
    not tried event though.

    ok.cheaper in the long run.
maybe not cheaper like for like.but if you buy when something’s on offer, and aren’t set on something too specific.it’s cheaper.
no truing costs, ever.factor that in..

a nice ghetto stand is(are?)some forks mounted in a vice.

quite a few steel FS.doberman(n?),fireeye.off the top of my head.
Ducati make the frame out of chromoly tubes.might be a good place to find out if 853 or similar would offer benefits.cheaper than welding up a car chassis.
    I remember..the snark.(pedal)car made out of bicycle frames.In wales.
    read about in..cyclopaedia.94 maybe.

if you use bar end shifters you can use any front mech.
a road rear mech will handle up to a 32 cog, longer b screw and/or change the pulley to a 9t one.
or get some campy shifters and a jtek.
that way you have non indexed front.

    emanuel

    shimano 9sp.
or look at the jtek.maybe they have(or will have) something.

use bar end shift if you want to save some money.

came off my road bike.into a wall.so needed new front teeth, again.
that was a year and a half ago.nearly finished now.
expensive at 3000eu,but the bike was fine.

had a bridge done about 6ys ago.now got implants.
go for the implants, the bridge was getting a bit loose.
    implants feel much more solid.
I went toothless for about 4months,the dentist said it would be more solid to let it fuse without any pressure.looked a bit weird, but girls-oddly- seemed to like it.
(remember the line in pulp fiction?when he asks about the piercing?)

    I wouldn’t go abroad.I thought about it,but it takes so long-repeat visits.lots of bother.
besides, how are you going to ask around in a place you don’t know?
    price is harsh though.

and I don’t feel as confident dh as I used to.but maybe it comes back.

    got this one,it’s pretty good.
though I used a fireeye spur for a while.the spring snapped but a ziptie through the tensioner and round the chainstay sorted it out.
actually.that worked really well.but I’d already ordered the yess.

dunno if someone’s said this, but why not put two electrical cables on the road.like speed sensors have.about 60cm apart I think.
    cheapest option probl.

got a ritchey torqkey, pulled off the bit and now I can use different sized bits on it.
limited to 5mn.but most critical bolts are.bit less for 3nm.bit more for 8.nothing’s exploded yet.

    I find my fingers perfectly calibrated,now.(but then,not having a 3nm or an 8nm wrench-I have no way of really knowing-have I?)
I’ve been using it for a few years.

    certainly wasn’t the case before.
a bit like using a pump with and without manometer.maybe some are more sensitive than I am.find it quicker this way.
    So
if you’ve got lightweight components it’s a good idea.
Esp when something is slipping,at correct torque.
then you know to find another solution, like carbon paste, instead of giving it a bit more..

mmh to tell him it’s allright?

elfin.buy 30m of bw film, roll it yourself.develop while watching tv sitting on the sofa.sorted.just saved you buying throwaway stuff.

if you NEED it,buy it.whenever something’s announced it’ll take 6months to get to market anyway.then there won’t be any for a year or so.if you don’t need it..lots of good deals on used mf.
if you want it.well, get it.can’t take pictures with gold.
    or just get this
    wa version available too.
    with a flatbed scanner.a v750,v700 you’ve got huge files.

skin tone is so much easier with bw.
bw conversion from a colour photo with the channel mixer is so much easier than straight digital bw.

shoot slides for a bit, that’ll make you a better photographer.
or turn off the monitor, you should know what you’re doing.if not.learn.
modes aren’t a transferrable skill.knowing how to expose is.

children are much less predictable than shooting sports. If I wanted to shoot kids I’d get a d2hs,cheap.5mb files are plenty big enough.great af.nice body.
lighting conditions generally don’t change very much.so manual is fine for most situations.better actually.

shots might be free and unlimited.but time isn’t.
neither is energy, for posing, for concentration.or for selecting the keepers out of a 12gb card.
people, they get bored,be they wives, girlfriends, friends, relatives.
why so many pictures of cats, dogs?because they don’t get bored.

    so,learn lighting.learn exposure.when you’ve got that dialled,well it becomes automatic,and faster,not to mention more precise.
    asides from expressive.

    my d200 meters fine,but I prefer using a sekonic.mostly it’s the same.
    mostly.
I won’t even get started on flash.and I won’t even consider getting started on multiple flashes.

my advice.fx is too expensive.bodies are worth naught after a few years.lenses are the better buy.

nice long tele lenses are even nicer longer tele lenses with dx.
plenty of good nikon wa lenses.some good dx primes.

most important thing is never the equipment.
    any cyclist knows that..

asides from tripods.good tripods are niceness itself.

I think, asides from people and their moods and interactions with other people and their moods,it all stems from this cyclist inferiority bias.

look at this, allright its in danish.but the bike traffic is so slow!
this cyclist inferiority complex has been taken to extremes in some places,I can’t remember where I was reading about the roadies in amsterdam complaining because they’re not allowed to use the road.must use bikelane.that’s true here in bcn too.if there’s a bikelane you have to use it.
    cars=money.simple as that.

banging on the roof seems to get their attention.

however it’s true,as cyclists we just don’t exist.
there is a cyclist inferiority complex.
bike lanes add to this, cyclists who are afraid of cars (because they don’t consider themseñves vehicles, but pedestrians on bikes) want them.
motorists want them because then we don’t take up their precious space.
politicians want them because it gets them votes.
while in fact they’re more dangerous(at junctions)
    slower
don’t teach cyclists how to behave in traffic
don’t teach motorists that there are other roadusers.
I’ve had motorists tell me I should be on the bike lane.
So I reply the speed limit on the bike lane is 20kmh,and I’m doing 35-40kmh.even asked the police, they said ‘we haven’t deployed laser guns to bike lanes so far’.
I think the police (here, but in other places I’ve lived) just don’t have a clue(mostly).
I once had the police yell at me because I’d told a van driver to f.off as he’d passed me with an inch to spare, they told me I should have been off the road.on the gravel shoulder.
(also had police motorcyclists ask me how to trackstand, watching me at lights)
how many here remember that critical mass video from brasil?

having said that, most drivers are considerate/just drive normally.

but I find myself only going out onthe road on sat and sundays, because I’m just tired of a near miss every single ride.

I commute every day though,on a road bike.find it quite safe.maybe because my speed is the same as the motorists in the city.maybe because it’s nearly always the same drivers.

dunno what advice to offer.I remember reading some american forums a while back.one thing that stuck in my mind was:
‘the only time drivers leave me alone, give me enough space,is when I’m carrying my rifle on my back to go to the shooting range.’
maybe I could get a jersey, with an ak47 on the back.like those tshirts in naples with a seatbelt print on the front.dunno.

    not mine.
the clip broke off a topeak aerowedge while practising wheelie drops on the commuter..
unscrewed it,passed a zip tie between the two holes.then used a long toe clip to pass through saddle rails and aforementioned ziptie, round the bag.
    works fine.+ lighter as well.
