    thank you for the ideas,
    Cynic-al.got a 70-60-50 and 35mm stem,so reach shouldn’t be a probl.

rocketdog, those bikes look good, but I think vees would make things easier, otherwise I’d have to use bb7s,had them and not that keen.
besides it’s usually really really dry where I live now.

    Epicyclo,thats exactly what I mean.something like the 40s rando bikes,big balloon tyres,low gearing.or j.f. scott’s bike in klunkers.
I remember the hampsten bike I saw a while ago, looked nice.
used 33mm tyres tho.bit too limited.

    I’ve done some sums,and a 3sp pompino,even with a carbon fork,and the components I have (r700 crank,thomson bits)would weigh 8.7kg aprox.
the kona with a generic carbon fork would weigh the same.
so nothing to be gained by having less.
Besides,if I gear the top gear to around 66,then the bottom gear on a3sp is in the high 30s.bit high.middle gear is 55 which is nice.
might as well go 1×9,or 2×9.
I’ll have a look at the gryphon and report back.
I’m sure I can bodge discs onto road bars.

    thanks all,for your imput,
    nice pictures epicyclo.

If you get schwalbe tubes even the prestas have removable cores.
that way you get lighter tubes, though woods valves have a certain nicheness.Regina valves are nice too.

wasn’t there that sort of microwave that ionized shoes?
only real solution is to rotate/wash so they don’t start stinking.
loads of talc helps quite a bit.
freezing them helps a little bit.
new insoles seem to get rid of most of the smell.

don’t get the vfm regardless of cost.vfm is all about cost.
had you said,weight/blingness/tuffness/longevity regardless of cost.
well, kettles of fish and all that.

much much more.loads of offshore accounts.holding societies.
much more.do you really think he declares everything?
esp after passing several laws that make fraud pretty much legal.

much more support on roadie pedals.
but, just tried the new shimano pedals with a bit of a platform on the sides, much better than the m540s I had before.this is on a touring bike.
road bike has road pedals.mtb shoes are much heavier though.

and the good ole traditional corruption agents, mafia, church have stood by B,have gained thanks to B.So,I don’t agree about traditional corruption/new corruption. It all slots in nicely.for some.

craxi is where you need to look to understand B.
(and to see where he comes from)
Andreotti was a different type of corruption.Gladio, for example.Ustica.

sorry vortex, hadn’t noticed that(or the reply)
I seem to remember the sizing being c-t not c-c.maybe I’m wrong.but look at the geo chart.
I’d not hesitate to reccomend either of my bikes.the thorn is not too expensive-esp fully built.and not much heavier.
you could get some stupid light wheels built up quite cheaply when funds allow, planetx rims, tubs.tighter cassette.
and some deore/hub generator wheels for commuting.
I’d do that.and get one of those coloured smeg fridges I couldn’t afford.

going back I’d probably superglue a 27.2-30.0 shim in place.
the thing I don’t like about thomson layback posts is you can’t slam them all the way down, there’s always 10cm showing.

    emanuel
    Free Member

    no layback 30.0
can find some sdg/kore ones cheap in that size/length.
    I think there’s a truvativ,not sure if it’s 350mm tho.

I think the rims would break at the sidewall before the tyres exploded..cartoon style.
I don’t reccomend it.that’s all I’ve got to say about it..

    1 stone – 6.35 kg
    1 atm – 14.69 psi

gone as low as 50psi,as high as 200psi..95/105 feels about right for 69-70kg.

    emanuel

weight in kg=0.atmospheres.or weight divided by ten=atm.
drop half an atm in the front.
go down 1-2 atm. when it rains.

my first bike mechanic told me that.
feeling fast usually means its too high.

mcboo,he’s been a great business man (for himself)while being a politician.
If you think being a business man is about bribes, organised crime, lying under oath, tax evasion, offshore accounts, nepotism.
then yes,he’s been great,if your ethics boil down to homo homini lupo.

    He’s been a proper thatcher to italy,high unemployment,rich geting richer,poor getting poorer.welfare state dismantled.
just think, taxes like sweden, welfare state like the US.

    ps,about doing something about it.
the judicial system has been under constant attack.laws are changed to suit B.witnesses bribed.funds cut.judges attacked in (general and personal)smear campaigns. This has been going on for years,
dell’utri was found guilty recently.but no evidence.
the mills case expires in jan, thanks to his new law,but this crisis gives him a legal excuse to avoid the summons.
so,he has resisted(pretty well, must give the man credit where it’s due) all the efforts made, and they have been plenty.
look up the lodo mondadori for example.

there is also the fact that there is a chunk of italy that prefers a certain chaos.makes hiding their little secrets easier.

spanish tv is worse!not had a tv for about 12years though.started when I was in italy.was back in london about 2ys ago and tbh made my mind up that most tv is crap, besides, most ofthe stuff we’re all seeing is american.
having said that,I agree about the tv.but B created it,mediaset started showing crap about 25-30ys ago, naturally the worse the programming the higher the ratings.Rai took up the crapness/audience challenge.
he finished the job off when he became pm.
he’s also silenced wikipedia, you can’t access it from italy anymore.

He’s got an enormous media machine in place.the left has disintegrated, the catholic church plays along.so there aren’t that many places an opposition can be heard, esp internationally.

    schwalbe do a rain tyre.
and lower your pressure for rain, don’t raise it.that and wider tyres.

now a folding bike with those unpuncturable marathons, going downhill in the rain.that’s twitchy.

there are good italian tv programmes. There are some excellent italian newspapers.

most of the good tv hosts are now on la7,after rai was purged by B.

I have noticed,in all the countries I?ve lived in,britain included, the tendency to focus on foreign corruption rather than homebrewed.
A bit like the endless media campaign against greece at the moment.
    It gives everybody a scapegoat.

I remember the joke a univ prof told me in..99?
you can be honest and clever but then you’ll not vote berlusconi
you can be clever and vote berlusconi but then you’re not honest.
you can be honest and vote berlusconi, but then you’re not clever.

He rules the media, and has done for the past 20years,the italy that supports him,and there are a lot them, have been created by his ‘mind numbing spirit crushing game shows’.and fox type news.

The left wing in italy has been unable to find it’s bearings for the past 20ys.

Plenty of opposition.Fini, split up with him, never liked his politics, but he talks sense(now).
I remember reading russian diary,by anna poliotskaya(sp) and she was writing about the constant attack on the juridical system, the media,by putin.
pretty much applies to italy as well.

smile without a soul,as cossutta said a long time ago.

    vortex,I’ve got a kinesis gran fondo,takes full mudguards,rack mounts,pretty light at 1.6kg and comfortable,yet stiff.
I use it as my roadbike as I commute on a thorn audax.
I could probably commute on the kinesis, but gearing and setup would be different on each usage,as would tyre choice, lights etc.
having said that,it could be done, two wheelsets, one nicer, one basic(tiagra/opensport or something like that)clip on lights.
    maybe a syntace vro stem.
would you really save some money?the surly looks ace.a bit like the mk3 audax I have but with sliding dropouts.
(and likewise I could use the thorn as a road bike.but It’s got racks and dynamos and a shorter.higher stem)

    plus i’m not married..
