    insecurity and ignorance.
anyway, fit is more important than anything else in boots, like in bikes.

was going to build up some 819s I have, but they are a bit podgy.570g-with the nipple inserts.and a bit narrow.

Saw the new wtb rims, even asked here about them, nobody seems to know anything.I think i’m going to give them a try, similar specs to stans rims, half the price.what few wtb things i’ve bought seem to have been good value.
tcs I think is the name.

works fine.even better than road pads.have to change the holders obv.
    put some on my brompton.
However,I had to put road pads on v brakes for a trekking bike,as the power was just too much,it endoed constantly.

look up vehicular cycling on wikip.
read the forester book if you can.
there’s some good articles in the rivendell reader you can find as a pdf on rivbike.
and all the best.I’ve nearly given up road cycling,so I can sympathise.
I still commute on roads, most days it’s fine.mostly because I seem to always find the same drivers.and it’s a short commute.

I think one of those dorky side reflectors might be useful.
a mirror also helps you not feel so vulnerable.

wash it in the bath.simples really.not my bath though.
or hoover it with the brush attachment if it’s more dusty dirty than muddy dirty, when I’m hoovering the flat.
or just spray with some car wax shampoo.

always dry with a microfibre cloth.
    wax 1-2x a year.

that new gearbox bike seems to have a large rear sprocket.
I the nexus I set up on a pompino seemed smoother in with a 20 in the back, panacea maybe.probably.

looked into this, came to the conclusion an electric chainsaw would get a lot less attention due to less noise.but then they don’t really have that much power,so I decided to not bother, and found some new(and better) trails.

Tj,but how about those that voted libdem and then saw that they had supported the tories.
In italy you can’t choose the candidate, just the party.that’s not really very democratic is it?

    emanuel

    ernie,I agree.
having said that, democracy has been eroded quite severely in italy by the fact that B created a certain type of italian,or at least gave it some form of justification.a-by his example.b-by the constant bombardment with private(and now state-as he changed everybody in RAI to suit him) media.
And that’s not democratic in spirit, though it is in form.
(barely, seeing as lots of dead people seemed to have voted B)

will do,I remember the italians,by barzini, and the new italians by richards being quite good.
and lawrence’s sketches of etruscan places.
Some bits of italy work really well,Trentino, the get to keep most of the taxes they pay,and spend it wisely.I remember piemonte being quite good,Emilia romagna was pretty good.tuscany could be so much more.
never been further south, but it seems to get worse.and worse.
shame,it’s a place with so much.and great riding.

you won’t be fine.position and fit is a lot more critical on the road.
of course you could manage, but why would you want to?
bit strange an experienced roadie asking someone to do 160km straight off.
get a fit done, and change what you have to to make sure the bike fits you.then build up.and road pedals.

It’s an ad interim gov, there was another one less than 10ys ago.
pretty standard fare,it’s not the first time a gov doesn’t reach the end of it’s mandate in italy.
    probl vote in the spring.
Let’s see what happens to his pending trials-being unemployed he’s got plenty of time and no excuses now.

    that should do it.
some cheap tri bars fitted to the middle ,or some long bar ends as inboard as you can.slicks.some cheap/spare 560bars,long stems are cheap in 25.4.it’ll look brilliant.

having said that..I went considerably faster on a hardtail, with pads and a full face helmet than the roadie who was racing me.up a tarmac climb.was about a 2.5km.the look on his face…gave him at least 2mins.
after a few’I’ll let you catch up and then sprint away/I’m a tosser’.
wanted to stop at the top and make a joke about el aguila de toledo..(bahamontes),but had to meet a girl.
ah well.don’t think it’ll ever happen again.

always stop, always ask, always help, always seem to find myself fixing other people’s bikes, giving directions, doesn’t seem to work the other way though..ah well.hugur’s right though.had to walk back home a few times, took a few hours(nobody offered me a lift-only lift I’ve ever got was either in my dad’s van or in an ambulance).educating experience.

Tj,the last letter I sent, about 10days ago,to a girl I’ve met, merited the following comment-ps.your handwriting is very difficult to read but I managed and now feel very proud of myself-I understand how she feels, often have trouble reading it myself..

oh yes.165 are proper spinny.try some cheap ones.I’m a touch taller than you and use 170s,175 on the mtb, tried 172.5 on the road, cadence suffered.
not much torque with 165s,so best for flattish roads.
    I use 44-16-find 170s a good balance.was running 42-16 with 165s.
or get some of those (stronglight?)cranks that have the swappable pedal thread to get 170-2.5-5.

I remember a girl..we used to write..once or twice a week, for about 8months..then she disappeared,so after trying to get back in touch, and her having none of it.I sent the letters back.occasionaly we talk, and everytime she tells me she’s still hurt by that.Everytime I’m glad.
write a postcard to my aunt every fortnight more or less.not going anywhere.but you can just say hello, and there’s some nice postcard books for cheap.only takes 5minutes.
seems a shame to have all this postal infrastructure and just use it for bills and adverts.

the one with the valve on top?had one years ago.pretty good.not that much better tho if you’ve got good technique with a normal moka.
4 cup is going to give you a big mug of espresso.you’ll never sleep again.

got some rhynolites.running vees.been faultless,I cased all the jumps at the bmx racetrack for about a year, still fine.dunno how much they weigh, but I’d guess about 500g?550?running folding table tops+xtralight tubes,so it feels much lighter.
have a look at the sun rims, the pinned ones are dirt cheap sometimes on crc.most are v compatible, machined and anodized.

make lots and lots of rubber bands.
though you can patch a tube millions(…) of times.
and I wear the tyres down until the threads are showing.
never thrown away any other bits, they always come in useful.
asides from bearings and tacoed rims and worn out cassettes.
