‘cos it routed under bb-chainstay,not tt-seatstay.
besides, you can run a rollamajig that way.

problem is if you have to stop,if you’re wet you’ll be miserable pretty quickly.it’s hard to warm up again.so you enter into a cycle of getting colder and it being harder to pedal yourself warm.

nobody’s said: brake from the drops.

So,my advice is: brake from the drops.though I do resent the road brake slander, even the modolo 1970s stuff on my bianchi is fine.
    so stop whining.

    this always cheers me up.
full movie over at unofficial networks, and free.
I think the parallels with mtb-ing are pretty evident.

    perfume,tykwer.
can’t decide what was worse, the acting or the script.
    4/10.
should have remembered lola runs,by tykwer, another film made by stretching a simple idea much too far.
the book was allright.but this was shite.

feel pretty alienated, but I’m healthy, got too many bikes, plenty of time for myself, become a much better person, can build great wheels.
girls smile at me on the street, stopped smoking, can cook.
    I’m doing allright,as a person.professionally I’ve squandered it all.

    can’t sing tho,can’t even whistle.

brilliant ride, usual 7hs,but it all seemed to flow so well.
I think it’s the soil conditions, dry but the cold retains some moisture.
So,there I was, sitting down, contemplating, full facer, pads,at the top of one of the last descents of the day,a man comes up with 3 kids, and the little girl starts reading a poem to the virgin mary-there’s a little shrine on the top of that hill.
    on the left,first 20secs.
    http://video.mpora.com/watch/hfeipfQx6/

while riding home I pinned it down a longish staircase,in the metro underpass,as I always do.
a young man shouts out ‘nice!’,so I gave him a thumbs up.and manualled away.

    first compliment I’ve ever received,bike related,in 13 bloody years.
so it made me think of how little support,or interest,I’ve received from family, girlfriends.so **** them.but the ride was brilliant, best I’ve had in a long time.so brill.going out tomorrow as well, and boxing day.
thanks, random rasta dude.and thanks, little girl with the hairband.

matt,if you read through the thread there’s an mk2 version.
you can cut the teeth off an old chainring, then file it smooth for a cheap bash.half an hour’s work.
and/or lower and lock down the front der.you’ve already got it.
    or get a jumpstop.

Read the new finnish grammar,in italian, a few years ago.
It’s got some great moments, and there aren’t that many novels on translators.could have been great, very nearly is.But it’s very good.
just finished sajer’s forgotten soldier, reccomended here.thanks.terrible.should be read by everybody.
then read solaris,by lem.Surprised at how different it was to the film.
Also surprised how much Tarkovsky managed to convey, and so well.
    Excellent book.

Dunno what to read next, got a great big pile.tried to start the innocents abroad,by twain.but don’t seem to be in the mood.
    reading some heinleim quotes today.

    here’s one.

“A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.”

how kafkaesque would watching a doc on looting,on a looted tv, be?
    the mind boggles.

but on a serious note,if society feeds them the success myth,if they’ll tell you anything to sell you anything.if there aren’t any rolemodels, local or national. If the people that do good, and there are plenty, aren’t really rewarded for it,nor are they given much attention.
If all that is successful is good.howeverwhichway you get there.
If all that is profitable is good,if profit is good.If money is good.if power, money are all good.

Pretty hard growing up,much harder when you have to do it by yourself amidst a barrage of misinformation, lies and propaganda.

I read the jimmy reid acceptance speech the other day.How many youths have access to advice like that?
I don’t mean the abstract access,it’s on the net.

I mean the real access, that’s pretty hard.
Anyway, alienation pretty well sums this up as well.

besides, look at the wikip page that lists riots, hardly a new thing.

it’s the social contract breaking down.
Too easy to (just) blame the ones that get caught up in it.For them it already has.

I mean, poor bastards, they get told they need to prove themselves by acquiring/getting/procuring all that is good, yet, mostly, are excluded from the process.
hence the shortcut.semantically they’re not far off.morally, that’s another story.
but the media preaching morals?politicians preaching morals?
    come on.

Ladro piccolo non ti far beccare, che il ladro grosso ti fa impiccare.

    nice little proverb that.
however, they were pretty stupid to get caught up in it.

but on the road I’d rather have the smallest steps possible.especially for touring.
    hence a triple,24or 26-38-46.14-25cassette.
you can go plenty fast on that, juniors do.and good ones are faster than most.
you can climb anything on that.and 24-25 will enable your pannier laden, headwind buffeted bike and you to get anywhere you like at the end of a long day.
    hence a triple.
plus I think a slightly wider q factor may be beneficial for women, with their wider hips.
    hence a triple.
    a road one,mind.
and shimano tiagra comes with shims,or you can get their small hands specific levers.
shame to get 165s you have to go to 105.

    the station agent was good.

    watched some bmx films today.

up up and away-sunday.nice music, some stuff filmed here in bcn so I can have a look at the spots and mince around.nice music.7.sick riding.

    synopsys-micreation.bit mellow/empty.didn’t actually notice any music.5.good riding.

oss football.nice vibe, great music, just positive.7.5.I think that was filmed here in bcn too.but then again, they do all resemble each other a bit.

bmx films have better music than mtb films,to my ears.
plus it’s nice to see the lads happy at getting something right,or throwing hissy fits when they don’t.you don’t really get any of that with full facers.but then again, riding with just a beanie seems mental to me.

might as well get a fit done, before buying the bike.then you can find a frame that will fit her well.dunno about 650 though.but if you get two sets of wheels, get the normal cheap but good ones first.then the ones I mentioned earlier next year or something,so she appreciated the difference.

aye, looks allright, but if she likes touring it won’t work.
    pootle,sportive,shopping,touring.
the thorn can take front and rear racks, has a different fork for the smallest size(can’t use a carbon fork-rake’s different).comes in pink.
is comfortable.fast enough with lighter wheels and stripped down.
takes mudguards with decent sized tyres fitted.
with great tyres and properly light wheels it won’t be much worse than the trek above, but the trek will be much worse in all other situations.
if you can actually use it for those situations.
get a triple,go down to 24 on the inner,38-46 or something similar.shorter cranks.dynohub front everyday touring wheel.
it takes both 130 and 135 wheels.
you can stack it and it’s fine.I have. It’s a nice bike.
Got one and I’d reccomend it.
I’m sure there are others, but the thorn racks are pretty good.and light.
you can get loads of shopping in panniers.

the millyard bike had a nexus above the bb.
hub gear with half step up front would make sense.the older alfine tensioner was designed that way I think.
