why?Asides from the simple fact that you BOTH go faster together.Obv there’s more advantage drafting than being drafted.Asides from that, what’s wrong with being a bit generous?
Once in a while, just to see what happens.
I remember drafting an old lady on a shopping bike, just to get home.I’d been on the road bike for 11h though.Rested a bit, felt better, went on.
Regarding ‘roadie’,as darwin says,no classification based on a single characteristic ever works.

I think being a tosser is a sign of a fragile ego.
    false courage for weak men.

tribador I suppose is tibidabo.some nice stuff there.look at mpora, bcn, collserola, badalona, tirita riders have some videos up.
    I live there(here).Anyone’s welcome to come for a ride,mtb,cx,road.
Some nice stuff round badalona,15mins by bike, one train stop.more cx than mtb,but there’s some amazing built sections.really well taken care of.Collserola(the bcn stuff)is different, nearly all natural.but there’s some crazy hard trails the local freeriders have built, even hauled a sofa halfway up the trail.djs, biggish gaps, really loose sand.too much for me.lots of climbing whatever you do.
If you (generic you) want to come for a proper ride,4-5hs then you’re welcome.if not, well I suppose I could meet you somewhere.only go out on weekdays, too many hikers on weekends.
It’s hot here, already.so whatever you do don’t forget to bring at least 3lt of water.
I’m not that good, but I’m not bad,I suppose that describes my level.

The only thing you’re doing wrong is to adapt yourself to the gearing, not the gearing to you.
Have a long hard look at sheldon’s gear calculator.speed,cadence.really poke around.
I’d suggest a 44-5t ring,110 bolt circle dia is the bmx race diameter, they occasionaly come up cheap on crc.if not specialites ta have them all.
Get a good cadence.90-110.the speed will come later.though it takes a few years.
I run 33-46 with a junior cassette(14-25).It’s fine for me.My average is 27kmh,85km rides,1300m of climbing.that’s 3 nice hard climbs and one decent one.I do 35-6 on the flat on the way up(faux plat) and do 48 if I can get a bit of a slipstream.have done 63 on the 46-14.on the flat, behind a bus.
besides.my chain lasts longer and is nice and straight as I’m usually on the 46:16-7.
I’m tempted to put a 44 on for spring as it’s so damned windy.and I ride alone.
Point is,to go faster pedal faster, not harder.
change your gears to suit you.if a 42 works, then fine.a straight block cassette def helps.
miche make cassettes starting with 14-15 and 16-
like they were when freewheels were around and you needed a 52 to have a 100gear inches.

even a 50 is too much.adapt the gearing to you.then change it as you get stronger.
take care.and fit some tiny bar end mirrors.

2kg for the wheels.1950-60g.20mm axle version.
take away the weight of some bog standard xt hubs.600g?
    I’d say 550g per rim.
the wtb rims I just built up onto hopes weigh 470(old style-with eyelets).
    same height and width.

selling the xt wheels if anyone wants them, but I’m in barcelona.

3x,I’m putting in the data from memory,so there is a slight margin for error.will check again
where can I find a cheap SA srf5?

It’s for a drop bar pompino.I cut and filed a gripshift and got it onto the handlebars, but would prefer a bar end shifter.so it’s the SA hubs or the shimano 7-8
the 7sp shimano is a bit smaller. than then 8.
    thanks.

oh and marathon plusses on 20″ rims.
and loose ball headsets, really loose ball, not the modern stuff.30yo ones.always find a bb on the floor.
    chainguides can be annoying,fit,measure,remove,fit measure,remove,fit..file,measure.remove,fit..
    honjo fenders.
brompton cable length,if you’re swapping hbars.
    favourite?building wheels.

a bmx saddle?not a pivotal one,the seatposts are pretty short.
I’ve got one of those sdg dj saddles, light as well as cheap.plus a long post means you can raise it as she grows.

you can get tiny little mirrors that fit into the handlebar ends, from rosebikes.the procedure I’ve found works is-ride in the middle of the lane, when you see a car behind about to overtake, pull in a bit,you both get more space.
the absolute bestest thing is to live in some scenic out of the world place,I really miss tuscany, some rides could go for an hours without seeing a car.

papa-lazarou nice name.I did it myself.the second one is easier.
or send it to busyman cycles.
There was a thread on pinkbike I seem to recall, some nice ideas.I used leather, the thinner it is the easier it is.thin leather adds about 40-50gthick stuff adds 100g.done a few now.
you can use any fabric, denim looks good.contact cement, patience.
anyway, for no reason at all,a song.

I remember being 18 and having just got a road bike I’d be out for 8-9hours.the wind would change half way,so I’d get a headwind both ways.
coming back home was miserable.I’d draft old ladies on shopping bikes, old old roadies, anything.
no problem with strangers drafting.it’s nice when we get a bit of a train going, pick up other lone riders.it’s nice to drop.it’s nice to get dropped.both happen.

the yellow jersey guide to the tdf is a good read.
    as is- the rider,krabbe.
and velocio, though I’ve only read of him.nothing by him, except his commandments.
    http://thebikeshow.net/velocios-7-commandments-for-the-wise-cyclist/
fiddle with everything.bar height, reach, saddle height, setback.but one thing at a time.and about 2-3mm per adjustment.keep your bars high, then lower them as you feel better.get a fit done.it’s a good starting point.
    have fun.

    campy hs,king bb.
I’d buy some grease nipples and drill some holes.
though you need a loose ball bearing, not sure there’s any ht2 loose ball bb.for a headset you could use something like a fsa pig.

though as the barnett’s manual says (again and again) grease injection systems just lengthen overhaul intervals.

jaquie phelan is a good read.

loeka make some nice stuff.I’ve bought some pearl izumi stuff on sale for some gf,well received, but I wonder if it was more the act of the gift rather than the actual gift.
got an ex some cycle clothing, she refused it all,but then again, she ended up refusing me as well..

got two pairs, well they come in black and white…
seem to offer more support than the 540s I had before.a bit less sketchy when not clipped in.
preferred to get two pairs of 530s rather than one of the xt ones.50g diff per pair I think.
but asides from that,I much prefer the pedal spanner flats rather than the allen key interface.
    I’d reccomend them.

get a bike with dt shifters,or bar end shifters.constantly moving your hands is something that integrated brake/shift levers discourage.
or just remember to move your hands around.
