spa cycles or thorn do shorter cranks. I find alivio in 165 is fine. xt also an option

trails are pretty natural.basic maintenance but dont expect berms and features.most of them are short as there’s simply not much elevation.
lots of climbing to get anywhere.
there are some great sections but mostly hidden, the trailforks page shows about 50% of what there is.
la poma is great, about 30min by train then a 20min bike ride.

    Use?
I just get new ones and keep riding them all.
    singlespeed them if there’s overlap.
    last?
    Until the frame breaks, ymmv.

Jairaj, have you tried swapping the shims?
you can go from dj stack to one of the trail stacks by just removing one of the shims.or two, can’t remember.

I’m using one on my old cove hustler, as it was one of the few 130mm forks with straight steerers I could find when I gave the sektors to the GF.
I’ve got a mattoc, and it’s really good with the IRT mod.
I’ve got the roughcut damper on the Xfusion Sweep.
    fine fork.
I’d happily reccomend the mattoc or the sweep, both fine.
The mattoc, and the XF can be respaced to 26 I seem to remember.

Of all three, Personally I prefer the circus. good support, stiff, solid. Unshakeable.

I’d get a 650b fork. better resale value. and you could try out 26plus if you get that itch.

I’m surprised that all the talk about cycling is not backed up by the tiny amount of money needed to make commuting by bike simple, easy and safe. Must be too little money involved.
The precipitation data includes rain and snow and is from climatedata.eu

thanks Matt, as cyclists we know it’s true, but it’s good to have the data to back it up.

if you’re in barcelona you’re welcome to come for a ride, though I only have time to do night rides. try trailforks as well.

the abs+ damper is easily tuned with different shims to set your platform.
search mtbr on a long thread with great info.

why not use a 135 12mm axle and machine some spacers. or use some washers.
then use the disc mount as a torque stop.

    kojaks are great: fast, light.
    marathon supremes:fast, good puncture protection.lasts.
big apples, not as fast, but more than decent. last well, don’t puncture much.
can’t go wrong with any of them.

cables, outers, brake pads, true rims, check spoke tension, clean lube adjust hubs+ headset, new grips, evaluate tyres according to use/condition, fork idem. either go rigid for no maintenance, or new ones if you’re planning to use it in anger.
check BB, and you should be sorted for a while.
    probably new pedals too.

that’s brilliant, smooth luscious flow, cool truck, nice pinstriping on it, was that stock? nice song, nice light, nicely shot. great riding.
thanks to this thread, I’d have missed it for god knows how long otherwise.

not much, easier to sell to those that don’t ask themselves the same question. lots of them, benp1. you try to ride big apples on gravel, it slides just like a kojak on the same. it’s there to show the punter when the tyre’s done, or for the shop to tell the customer the tyre’s done. but mostly. as earlier, easier to sell a thin tread rather than slicks.

the cleaner the better, paste flux, dip the rod in powder when it’s hot. As Ben says, the more the better. put it where you’re not brazing to serve as temp indicator as well. it’s cheap.

    keep it simple, Dave Trott.

the deputy headteacher at school always said I was the master of my destiny. I think she got it from Henley.
It took me a long time to accept that.

    here’s the full version.

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
    For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
    Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.

I like bmx grips; cheap and comfortable.

I did that with the 5sp SA. but it didn’t work that well. I was running rim brakes.
I then tried a shimano nexus 3sp, but it died.

3sp SA seems more reliable, judging from the one on the brompton.
thing is, the weight saving isn’t there really. it’s about 1kg for the hub, that’s about the same as 1×10/1×9.
I settled on a hope SS with 1×7, really liked it.
    Always wanted to try a hammerschimdt/stumpf 2×1.
it’s a nice idea, I just don’t like the shifting lag. nor the few points of engagement.
the fixed gear one with a shimano/wi freewheel would shift faster/pick up quicker.
I’d be curious to try that out, but I don’t think they do a disc brake version.
I like the idea, and it looks great.

I usually advise people on bso to change pedals and grips when they bring them in, it’s cheap enough and it makes a fair bit of difference.
+ a bit of colour makes it look a bit better.
Most anything is better than stock on that kind of thing.

    yes, it’s normal.
you should service cheap kids bikes, they’re the worst.

I thought this thread was pointless, but the tube idea is really good, so I learned something today.
I use some japanese bonsai scissors.they get right inside. not had a problem, but I tend to use the smallest cable ties I can find.

I drove up to bristol for the bespoked show, it was knackering. 19hs non stop. 20hs on the way back.
did it with a mate, Don’t think I would be alive if I’d done it alone.
tolls are expensive. did it both ways, preferred the massif central, better scenery.
Park guell you only pay to get to the central bit, if you’re going there, come say hello. I’m on the right walking towards it on Travessera, from Lesseps metro station. after the bank on the corner, look downhill, there’s a union jack about 15metres down. Carrer Granja, 30-32.
dunno if you’re still in bcn, just noticed this thread.

good idea that. also easier to go back to normal, or run one normal one reversed to try it out. my battered wrists prefer non lock ons, but that’s a great idea none the less.

Rorschach, me too, but these are uncut 760 bars.so loosing half an inch either side gets me to my normal 730ish width.

You’re right, but it also helps their little hands not slide off the bars.
I reckon it’s worth a try, at the worst I’m out a pair of grips.
I like to keep a loose grip, I’ve used ergon GE1 because I think the slight taper keeps my hands on the bars better, but this would let me have a really relaxed grip, pretty useful on a rigid bike.

pinstriping always looks good. some stuff is easy, tanwall tyres, cork grips, brooks.
