I’m of the opinion the missus did it to irritate me.. which she has succeeded in doing.

ps.. It’s not a lawn.. thats up in the orchard under a very big cherry tree that stops the grass growing. Branches are to stop the roof coming off.. red line comment made me chuckle 😀

I wish it were that simple.. the stack goes 4 rows deep.. Took three days on and off to chop n stack.. One cannot simply wiggle the log around 🙁

    WHAT HAVE I DONE !! 😥

Two insignificant little things drive me wild. I know it’s wrong and I cant explain it, but I get an urge (luckily controlled so far) to physically harm men I see with either of the following..

A Polo shirt with the collar turned up..

    or

    A Scarf without a coat..

Beginning of this year I had the best couple of months in ten years.. Then the work stopped, and I mean completely took an absolute nose dive.

I’ll hold my hands up and admit I dont know what the hell is really happening with the economy other than say the only people I personally know still pulling in big bucks work in London. Banking and the BBC.

I’ve had a modest IT company for 25 years.. A degree was never a consideration when employing.. BUT.. the ex employees of mine who have gone on to be successful or make a packet have all (with one exception) been graduates.

Only my personal opinion.. but this idea that coding is a necessity for all kids is farcical. The vast majority of people need to know how to use the tools, not create the tools.

Sure instilling a logical mind in kids is good.. but coding a necessity? really?

Now aged 50.. I’ve finally given up any hope of building up a ‘normal’ level of tolerance to alcohol but still keep trying 😉

Never been able to drink much. My mother is the same, so is my son. Dont think I’ve ever drank more than 3-4 pints in one night in my life, though I do still have a social drink at least once a week. After one I feel drunk.. after three I’m in bed and ill for the next 24 hours. Symptoms are like a hangover from hell.. Some beers can trigger it after a single pint.

Been a blessing and a curse. Saved an enormous amount of money but lost an equally massive number of weekends when I took the risk of that third pint and paid the price.

Difficult part is people not actually believing you when you explain it to them.

Can only go on what I’ve seen myself.. I tried martial arts as a kid. My view of them was that it was all about set moves and pretty useless unless fighting another proponent of the same style. This was confirmed when our ‘grand master’ at wing chun got punched in the face by a student because he punched him with the ‘wrong hand’.

My personal favourite is boxing. I’ve done it now three nights a week for 20 years and think it’s a great sport, but everyone has their own favourite.

They’re all great for building confidence but one thing to remember about any combat sport used for self defence, the vast majority of assults happen when you’re not expecting them, or too drunk to do anything about them.

Have three cars but mostly cycle.. the L200 I probably do 2k per year and just use if I need to move heavy stuff such as caravan, big boat, logs etc. A Little soft top for the missus which did 90 (yes 90) miles in a whole year and a ford focus estate for pulling the little boat. Which does max 3-4k per year.

Focus is by far the best car imho.

Everyone has lots of close shaves when sharing the road with cars, but my most memorable was, I had the same lady nearly hit me three times within 300mtr stretch on the same single journey once, in slow moving traffic..

Firstly she pulled out of a left junction straight in front of me, then she decided a little further along that she wanted to turn left, but was in the right lane, so swerved across the road in front of me again. She then changed her mind swerving back into the traffic. At the lights she then decided again to turn left, turning into me as I was going straight across the lights. :/

She seemed completely oblivious to me the whole time.

Done a lot of sports my whole life at various levels. Can honestly say that nothing drops the weight off me as dramatically as a good long ride (bike) does. I can actually see it in my face after a big ride.

It’s the main reason I try to limit them, as one of my other sports requires me keep to a certain weight.

Yeah.. as I said it’s happened a few times on the same stretch.. Straight on into the side of a car isnt so bad… worse, is when someone in the queue up ahead decides they’re sick of waiting and randomly lurches left across the cycle lane into some side road at speed.. they do hurt! 😀

Thumbs up for the brompton bag/bumper.

You haven’t changed the washing powder you use have you ?

Yep.. the missus done it!! Some Aldi brand (Almat)!!! It’s now in the bin and in the process of washing everything again. Fingers crossed that was the culprit.

From about october to feb every year for the past few years something makes my shins and love-handles itch like mad.

    Same here :/

Was sat pondering this very subject myself.

Come from a family of smoking, drinking, unfit layabouts who never seem to suffer with anything. I dont smoke, nore drink, I eat healthily and have kept myself very fit my whole life. In my late 40s I’ve all of a sudden started to develop loads of skin allegies.. even eczema! I just dont get it at all. Normally it’s just my lower legs but last week I woke with a sever bout.. painful/itchy rash over 1/3 of my body, Chest/back/legs, it was unbearable. Docs just recomended antihistamines/Hydrocortisone cream and send me away.

It’s eased a bit now and only have it on my chest/back but god knows how people can bare having it all the time.

For some unknown reason I seem to be getting pathetically weak all of a sudden with these pesky allergies!

So by the looks of it.. If I was a sexist, homophobe, all I’d have to do is convert to Islam and I’d have the apparent blessing of Junk, Yunk, pjm etc??

(and yeah,, I started a sentence with ‘so’)

What I would like to do is have a private word with his dad and educate him a little on parental responsibility… but I doubt one exists.. or at least I’d have difficulty figuring out which one of the many men I’ve seen there he actually is! (if the mother even knows).

    also @nealglover..

tried that with snow clearing.. when I went out he’d written some expletive on the back of my car and sodded off with the money. Snow still on drive.

Thing is.. I’m from a rough area myself originally .. and deal with plenty of very rough kids at the boxing club fine.

The problem is that once you leave the gym, school, etc.. on the streets you have pretty much sod all you can do with this type of behaviour..

    What a world we’ve created!

Try to get to know him, better to be a mate than an enemy.

and how does that theory work with kids that plainly dont want to be friendly however hard you try?

plus a mother that seems intent on only chucking him out whilst she entertains numerous aquantances.

What never ceases to amaze me are the number of people I know who are intelligent enough to earn a LOT (by my standards) of money yet have absolutely zero intelligence on handling their financial affairs sucessfully.

I never employ trademen who are fat. I am far from thin myself and my weight has been up and down and I know from personal experience than people who are fatter are lazier, it takes longer to stand up/move about etc and it’s a mental thing too. It doesn’t take a lot of effort to lose wieght and I reckon people are fat simply because they can’t be arsed to lose weight, I don’t want these people doing me a new kitchen.

Nearly spat my tea out reading that hehehe 😆

no.. but although very trim and athletic.. I do have trouble bringing my knees up to my chest in a morning to put my socks on. It’s weird as I can do it now without a problem, just in the morning it’s an issue.. full bladder maybe?. (yes I am at work.. and yes.. people will be wondering why I’m pulling my knees up to my chest)
