There are none so blind as those who will not see.

Junk.. you need to get out more fella.. I’ve posted before facts on people I not only know but I’m related to who are playing the system and have a much better standard of living on benefits than me and my wife (who both work full time). Yet you ‘choose’ not to believe it.

I’m sure there are many people with terrible experience of unemployment, yet the majority (and it IS the majority) of people I know have not only never worked, they have no intention of ever working. And yes.. they all have skyTV too.

Yep.. just have to put up with it.. My daughter is at Lancaster and had a three hour each way daily journey to her placement.

Why the hell unis offer courses requiring placements in cities where placements dont exist does seem rather lacking in intelligence.

I get offended by people who get offended easily.. is that offensive ❓

I had the misfortune of living on one as a teenager.. To say they dont exist is either nieve, deluded or a plain liar.

Mine was originally a large ‘temporary’ prefab estate built in the countryside to house constuction workers building the local power stations during the 60s. Still in use 30/40 years later to house council tenants even the council didnt want. It was a terrible place with just about everyone unemployed. The residents spent most of their time getting drunk or fighting each other. Their fortnightly break was a 5 mile bus trip to town with their giro. Thank god they demolished it a few years ago.

I am severly dyslexic and the other day I clicked on the ‘woburn Sands’ thread three or four times during the day, each time mistakingly reading it as ‘woodburn stove’ 😕

I got one for £50 from Netto.. lasted three years of heavy use.. well worth the money.

It’s now stopped working but was so cheap that it was easier to just buy another cheap one from Argos.

My shed was full floor to ceiling with loose logs.. So I had this ‘idea’ of tidying the place up (god knows why) by bagging all the logs up in hessian sacks… Took three days!! I now have a shed full to the ceiling with bagged logs and about 20 bags of logs with nowhere to put them 😳

When I bought my stove AGA Ludlow, a friend also bought the ‘same’ one. When they were delivered, his was a multifuel and mine wasnt. The only difference between the two seems to be the facility to switch the scondary air inlet on/off. Apart from that they are absolutely identical.

i’d argue that its the lack of respect for locals that is the problem.

Sums up the problem exactly.. This localism business has put so many off surfing. Why should you be shown some sort of respect just because you live closer to the spot than someone else?

Things have gotten crazy with punch ups, slashed tyres and dog shite pushed under car door handles etc. All because the locals are under some delusional view that they own the spot.

Pathetic. A stain on an otherwise great pastime.

After the first episode I thought it was naff. Just this morning after seeing it mentioned again on here I thought I’d give it a second go and watched episode2. I actually started to enjoy it.. the rabbit glue in particular.

Just about to start episode3. Fruitful day at work then 😉

    A giant one of these

You’ve not told us how much it cost…

I honestly cant remember.. it was about 10-15 years ago when my company was very successful with some very lucerative multi mi££ion contracts and I was just throwing money away on stupid things 😐

ahaa them was the days.. Living the life with a giant box of chocolates.. You can take the man out the council estate but you cant take the council estate out the man hehehe

A giant one of these It was about 5 feet tall.

It was on display in the supermarket.. I peeked inside and it was actually full of chocolates. So I popped it in the trolley (took two of us to lift it). Caused quite a stir at the checkout.

Took almost a year to eat them, and that was with every visitor insisting on filling their pocket too.

Personally I’d save the hassle from buying a lot of the crap/custom jobs on ebay etc.. You can get a very good 4camera system from Maplin for not much more than £200 these days. and with actual real backup should you have problems.

As someone else said.. Thats an old system and if you need a new board, you’ll also need cpu.. memory etc.. then the windows wont work legally as the hardware manifest will be different..

You can buy a new tower for around £200 infinately better than the one you have, with a legitimate license and no hassle.

The fashion for ‘localism’ and ‘respect’ on the water has completely ruined surfing in many locations.

As many have said above, you will definitely ride faster than you ever thought possible!

Especially when you stop for a p!ss and your ‘mates’ just continue riding, leaving you alone in the forest.. in the DARK!!

I used to have this customer from Cork(Ireland) who was THE weirdest loon I’ve ever met. He kidnapped me… twice, but you’ll just have to take my word for it as it’s a very long story.

My sister met her husband of about 10 years on a dating site. Lovely bloke and they’re still madly in love.

Every other person I know who uses dating sites seem to use it purely for casual sex (and they get a LOT of it).

I was just about to complete on a purchase of 8 acres of mature’ish woodland this summer but pulled out.

Main reason was the continued cost of perimeter maintenance due to trespassers shooting.

There is an elderly couple who live next door to my wifes grandmother. For some unknown reason they keep getting robbed. The last time it happened the old fella (who cant get out of his wheelchair) had to sit and beg whilst the burglers repeatedly slapped and punched his wife because she wouldnt (couldnt) tell them where the imaginary stash of cash was that the three blokes assumed they had.

When I see people on here more concerened about the welfare of the burgler than the victim it makes me sick to the stomach.

    You disgust me.

Ignore the people who say you need to get to the root of the problem.. For now, the addiction IS the problem and anything else needs to be put aside.

Get her to the GP. He’ll give her something the calm the craving and refer her to a councillor who will help her manage the problem. It will also give your wife someone confidential and outside the family friend circle to confide in. It’ll be hard, but let her go alone. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

Bumped into him a couple of times many many moons ago when it wasnt just odd but pretty much impossible to bump into another MTBr in the peaks.. Had a good chat to him and his pals. One of them fancied himself as a fearless downhiller and they offered us a race back down.. My crazy mate thrashed them and from then onwards would be known in the racing scene by them as the ‘howling descender’. ahaa memories….

Used to have a guy come round regularly selling ‘meat’ out of bin liners.

Turned out he was stealing sheep/pigs and slaughtering them in his bath !

I can understand teachers frustrations. They’ve gone to university and (in my daughters case) ended up with a massive loan to pay back. Yet now the gov are erroding their chances of ever being able to even afford a standard of living where they can attain a mortgage.

Then again.. my wife is on 1/3 a teachers salary yet is expected to stand in for them when they are off! (but thats another story)

Just swept mine… Had to give it a hell of a push at times 🙁

Maybe I’ll just do it every other year as I only got less than a pint in volume of soot out of it and thats from using it all last winter.

On more thing.. I have a brush off ebay.. long thick plastic bristles that I worry could do damage to the lining.. Need to purchase a softer one.

Always had a bit of a wood fetish myself. For years (much to the regret of my dear wife) I would collect ‘nice’ bits of wood. Everytime one of our trees was felled I just wouldnt be able to bring myself to let it go.. Had a shed stacked with weird shaped bits of oak and big solid blocks of cherry/pear.

Last years purchase of a wood burning stove soon put pay to my treasured collection 🙁

Afraid to say it but the NHS in this country (or maybe it’s just my locality) is now frankly a joke. Most people dread A&E due to the 4-5 hour sat waiting (this seems regardless of the number of people also waiting). Or the 10 days wait to get an app to see the GP these days.

    Terrible terrible service.

2 in 30.. both recently and both on the same straight newish dual carriageway which although was perfectly fine as a single carriageway and a 60mph limit.. when they widened it and created the new dual carriageway they strangely reduced it to 50mph, at the same time created the perfect little hiddyhole for tax collection vans. 🙄
