In my local woods the Wildlife Trust’s main objective is to put up laminated signs telling you to keep out, a couple of boards telling you about wildlife you might see there and fences to keep you out. The Woodland Trust just put up fences in their neighbouring wood. No concept of “the countryside for all” at all

Unfortunately that’s the same story round my way too. The only things they seem to do well is build mile upon mile of fencing.

There’s a bloke at my club showers 3 times a day.. he also opens doors/gates with his feet, refuses to touch people, insists on spraying everyone/everything with antibacterial spray and wraps his steering wheel in tissue.

I shower maybe three times a week.. more if I train… If I needed multiple showers in one day due to smelling I’d be addressing the cause not washing more.

Showers per DAY? really? I’d hazard a guess at 3/4 times per WEEK.

My inlaws retired to Angelsey and by all accounts had a terrible time with the locals who made it obvious they werent welcome.. After round two years they sold up and came back to Notts just down the road from me!! Something I’ll never be able to forgive the Welsh for 😀

Alternatively I spend quite a bit of time in north wales for sailing competitions and have never had a bad experience.. although I must say I rarely heard a single person with a welsh accent much less any Welsh being spoken. Must be a coastal thing.

The only youtube channel I have ever donated too was one called ‘Keep Turning Left’. Produced by a retired BBC cameraman over the last few years as he attempted to circumnavigate all the waterways and estuaries of the uk anti-clockwise.. hence the name.

Some of his videos are an absolute delight. Unfortunately he cracked up when Trump got elected and started producing these bizarre political rants instead.. He lost a large amount of his subscribers and now resides himself to poking about his local river on a little rowing boat.. Sad really as his videos were in my opinion some of the best produced vids on youtube.

Look up ‘Sampson boat Co’ on YouTube. It’s not been going that long and it’s an English lad in America renovating a 100 year old boat from scratch..

my original reason for asking way back up there ^ was to try and understand the context of the case and the sentence.

There is no context.. just a brief summary in the ‘court results’ of the local paper. As it’s the second time I’ve seen small fines for someone caught recently in possession of a ‘tazer’ and I am aware of the source for the majority of them circulating locally, I thought maybe the law on possession had been relaxed, or that the courts in my area were being unreasonably lenient due to the number of them about atm. My error it seems was not taking into account the sensitivity of some on this site. In my daily life I dont come across people of such a sensitive nature. I dont take kindly to being called a racist.. and people who throw the insult around so freely do an injustice to the word.

There was no malice in my original post, it was a concern about the small fines which may encourage others to carry such things. The Poles at the gym are referred to as the poles because they are.. I’m sure they are very proud of being referred to as the poles, I know a lot of them (one of them my son in law) and they are a proud people. I see no difference referring to them as the poles as I do referring to the owners as the owners. It’s simply a term of reference that is a fact. It is people like you who sit there frothing at the mouth, seeing racism everywhere who appear to have an unhinged problem with it. Unfortunately though, outside the realms of this forum, people say things that may make you cry, you’re going to have to learn to live with it because the vast majority wont actually give a damn that it upsets your little feelings. Must be a sad lonely existence though being so obnoxious.

Some peoples sensitivity to me mentioning the nationality of the people doing the selling is of absolutely no concern to me.. If it was a group of chinese, asians, gordies, women, one eyed pirates with parrots on their **** shoulder, whatever.. I would call them such.. Thankfully outside the bubble of this forum, most people wouldnt care less that I mentioned the thing that most defines them as a group. The main theme of the OP was the punitive fines for possession being handed out which surprised me.

The sellers arent mates as such, just people I vaguely know who visit they gym selling their wares. The tazers/stun guns are the ones you press against the person and zap.. the papers reported them as ‘Tazers’.

Ignoring the oddballs above who call every poster they dont agree with either a Racist or a Liar..

The point I was making, was that the courts seem to be handing out quite punitive penalties in my area at the moment for possession of a tazer and my question was simply ‘Are they becoming more acceptable?’

For those of a sensitive nature.. I suppose I should clarify (although it shouldnt be necessary to anyone with a brain) that not ALL the poles are selling them.. just some of the Poles I know.

Brought back some memories that program did.. Marshall Meadows camp site.. Fell off the cliff there in 1981/82 as a lad.. very VERY fluky to survive.

The general consensus from posts above seem to be that you live abroad and have no intention of ever returning to the UK, so other than the inconvenience of gaining residency wherever you are, could you explain why the UK leaving the EU actually bothers you so much?
