Astrophysics For People In A Hurry – Neil Degrasse Tyson

think I might have to read this a few times to get a bit of an understanding of the subject. And this is one of the easier books on the subject

Bit of a crap year for me what with mental health and family stuff but I have managed to log over 1000 miles this year. Might not seem much to some but I’m properly chuffed with that.

I’m there next weekend for the open day. I’ve only got a Kenevo SL so that’ll have to do.

Wife brought one at the start of winter last year, Instantpot thing that’s also a slow cooker, pressure cooker etc etc, I thought it was a bit of a gimmick but I’ve been really impressed. Jacket spuds are great done in it as are chips. I’m really enjoying making my own breaded chicken strips in it.

Having watched numerous drone videos of Russian tanks being destroyed by what appears to be artillery I’m starting to think that the Ukrainians are using their drones as forward observers. I could be (and probably am) wrong but even with a consumer drone, when flying you are shown the coordinates of where the drone is, if the drone operator is in contact with the artillery they could easily tell them “left a little bit, up a little bit”.

I’ve got the VHS snapper tape. It’s good but I think it needs to be wider, as after a couple of rides my foot rub had delaminated the layers of rubber where the end of the tape was half way down the outside of my chain stay. I ended up cutting back the flapping bit and supergluing the rest back down.

I’ve just started rewatching Legion with my wife as she never watched it before. The main character is an unreliable narrator and you never really know if what your seeing is real or in his head. I love it my wife has spent the whole time watching it saying “What the **** is going on?’ “You watch some weird s**t”.

Didn’t John Richmond have something to do with Soviet?

It was Stüssy for me. Has been since the late 80’s till now.

I run a Podium with a cap on it. Have been tempted by the Fidlock bottle with the lid.

On a non hot chocolate tip. I can vouch for the Fatboy Slim Lockdown mixes from earlier this year on Mixcloud.

Think there’s an app called “STEPS UNLOCKER” that enables you to change the bikes region so you can have it set for the USA where the cut off speed is 20mph. Think you can do other thing in the app as well.

I brought a DeLonghi Prima Donna last December After years of Nespresso. I wanted to be able to choose which coffee I used as opposed to being locked in to Nestle. Must admit it was expensive but I’m so happy with the results. They do machines at most price points. By all accounts as long as you stay on top of cleaning, (I live in a hard water area) the should last for years.

I own an Apple Watch series 4 which has fall detection on it. It seems pretty good. Tripped over a kerb at work, went down hard, mate pi**ing himself laughing, jumped up in my best Delboy impression and the watch nudged me saying it had detected a fall and am I ok? The only damage sustained was to my ego but it’s used to it by now.
Think it nudge you a couple of times and if you don’t respond it calls an emergency number.
Admittedly it’s also activated when doing a 3 foot drop off to down slope landing on my bike which I didn’t land that hard on but weirdly didn’t activate when I dropped to flat on a lower drop off and I landed that a lot harder.🤔

    Thanks.
A friend was selling a oneup but I’d like to remove another cable so a 150mm Axs and just have it raised out of the seat tube 10mm for normal rides then drop down for BikePark days. 👍

£39k for the base model Transit PHEV. That’s me out. That’s too much for a one person/small business. Ford have missed a trick here.

I preferred Shaun in the mornings but think he will settle into the afternoon and make it work.

When Lauren first started on 6music it took me a while to warm to her, now I really enjoy listening to her shows.

I’d rather Nimone or Ravers got the mid morning slot to Mary Ann Hobbs. Something about her voice…

Controversially, I used to enjoy Georg Lamb. *ducks for cover*

I have noticed over the last year or so that 6music’s playlist has got larger. Before it seemed the shows had more of a feel that the dj’s played the tunes they wanted to and there were fewer songs you’d hear repeatly throughout the day. Or it could just be me.

In a normal lid, I can stop at the top of a climb, press the helmet against my forehead and create a stunning mobile version of Niagra Falls anyway. So I’m under no illusion that I won’t be hotter in a full face. Just think might have to suck it up and crack on.

Admittedly I too find normal trail helmets hot as hell so I think I’d have to work on my fitness before riding full face.

The other problem I’ve found about putting on a full face lid is it has the same effect as when I used to ride motorbikes in full leathers as opposed to a jeans and jacket, ie a slightly delusional sense of invincibility.

Think I’m getting old, bloody hate the 40’s. never even used to question it.

I think most breeds of dog could do it. We used to walk our basset hounds over Dartmoor, 5/6 hour walks a couple of times a year and they loved it. Admittedly, the following day they’d look at you with disgust if you showed them their lead, but the day after that they’d be happy to do it all over again.

I smashed out all 13 episodes in 2 days. Well worth the wait. Even though it has been a bloody year.

Just finished watching season 3 of The Expanse on Prime. Wow, possibly my favourite sci-fi programme ever. Can’t recommend highly enough.
