Thats good to hear as I went for the slightly shorter v-brake fitting.

Got the bike sat behind me and the stock pads that came with it do seem quite short, certainly shorter than those red v-brake pads I linked to above.

I think the black Kool Stop ones (up there^^) have the same fittings and the pad is also a little shorter, and perhaps the pad material is also a little thicker.

Ahh thanks for the confirmation, I’m slowly getting it now 🙂

So these type (below) are for v-brakes and therefore should also work

I’m confused to buggery now 😕

So let me get this straight, v-brake pads are fine for use in cantilever brakes? Remembering v-brakes of old, I thought they all used a cartridge pad. Maybe not then

Furthermore, those (red, blue, grey etc) pads I linked to above wont work?

But I would be best off with something like these instead?

V-brake? Now you’re throwing another option at me!

So are v-brake different to these, which are meant to be suitable for cantis?

One of the best ways of reducing risk is simply to eliminate the hazard.

I’ve removed all the scissors from my house & instead we use our fingers to cut paper & open packaging.

We spent a few days in Bathampton recently & thoroughly enjoyed the Bathampton Mill, which I think has just been refurbished following the floods. Had a nice garden & outdoor area overlooking the River Avon & the old bridge

I use shared (but not delineated) paths cycling to work and it is a bit of a nightmare in the summer when its busy.

I was even berated the other by a delightful lady chav who shouted at me to use the left side of the path. I happened to be on the left side of the path anyway so couldn’t think of a witty retort unfortunately.

I used to be a member. It was great for household supplies and big jars of Sacla Pesto 🙂

The Cardiff Branch also sell car tyres and if I recall also have a fitting centre oddly enough.

One that no-one has picked up on yet is the orange side repeaters. They will be white with chromed bezel by this evening

I didn’t comment but did have the same thought earlier. Honestly 🙂

And maybe twin rear exhausts exiting the centre of the rear bumper when you change em

I was going to pitch in with a watch related pun, but on the face of it, thought better not.

What on earth do you do for a job (genuine question)?

If you do go then perhaps brief friends and family back home, that should they receive any ‘Nigerian scam’ e-mails not to delete them immediately!

To shift the topic slightly from bovine to equine, are horses in a field quite dangerous too?

I only ask as a few months back a ride was halted by horses as we weren’t sure whether they would, umm attack us. There were two and we gave them a wide berth but when they spotted us, started galloping over. We hotfooted it over a fence but didn’t want to risk going through their field again – they seemed quite territorial.

    Do horses attack?

I had a bad face plant last year (similar to yours as I recall posting a reply to one of your posts) and lost half of one of my incisors, thus exposing the nerve.

I had some dental cement put on as a temporary measure whilst I healed and luckily I avoided infection in the broken tooth. Ultimately though I was left with root canal treatment (sounded worse reading about it online than the actual procedure was) and then had a composite crown made to re-build the chipped tooth.

So all in all it worked out okay and I now have no nerve in the broken tooth. Plus it only cost me £40 for everything – I think my dentist must have given NHS rates…

31 years young here and happy (or ashamed) to report that I have blue eyes, and after two bottles of ale at home the other night I had a hangover the following day.

I considering a spa break for my stag do this year.

Be interesting to see people’s reaction at work if you cracked open a nice cool bottle of alcohol free beer at your desk. Shouldn’t be any different to opening a can of Coke but it would feel a bit weird.

Straying off topic slightly I’ve also wondered how this would go down if you cracked one open whilst driving a car…?

Back on topic, I had roasted vegetables, chorizo and butter bean salad on a bed of spinach for lunch. But I did precede that with a custard slice starter at 11am if that counts?

Great thread 🙂 and the pictures are fantastic. It also reminds me of this amazing story from the BBC a couple of years ago about Gunther Holtorf’s round the world trip in a G Wagon

EDIT: just looked and 4.3’s jellybean. any chance of updating to kitkat?

Don’t think this is possible on my HTC One without rooting the phone, which I don’t fancy doing as its a bit too technical for me.

Comparing my phone to someone running 4.4 their Android system runs around 5-6%, whereas mine is 80% odd, so something is definitely amiss.

I’ve not changed any other settings so I’m sure its something to do with the update. Or a duff phone.

I think the biggest problem with the Nomad video is the riders turning the bike upside down to fit the wheels.

From what I gather, around these parts that is the most henious of cycle related crimes 🙂

    Same thing happened to me.

The minute the car was an insurance write off (still drivable though) the other parties insurance co wanted the hire car back asap & weren’t budging. My hands were tied too as when I picked up the hire car it was obviously my card used for the deposit.

I was able to use my written off car though until it was taken away to the big scrapheap in the sky 🙁

My 2011 Camber. It’s been a great bike but my only niggling worry is the lack of tapered headtube and potential problems if I want to upgrade the fork.

Pretty sure its a Sparrowhawk that landed in my parents garden some months back, and proceded to disembowel a small bird.

Left a hell of a mess but fascinating to watch. Unless you’re a small bird.

I have some rubbish compact camera pics, I’ll see if I can post later

Edit: Also got some Peregrines that nest at work, so I’ll see if I can post them too

The online ones are not illegal. Well, not in the country where they’re made anyway. Which isn’t the UK.

So you’re saying they’re not legal in the UK, but are in the county in which they are made (whatever country that is)?

Pleased to hear your good experiences, and a bit cheaper than Halfords too which helps as I’m only after a standar plate, none of this fancy nonsense.

Out of interest, did you fit the c.guide around the proprietary Camber chainstay protector, or did you have to cut that away to fit it?

Yep, the bit with the old chap (didn’t look 92 to be fair) who lost his childhood sweetheart was pretty moving.

To be fair, isn’t motoring journalism his career? It wouldn’t make half as good an article if he leased a Kia C’eed and wrote about his ownership.

Plus I enjoy his reviews on Youtube
