Who publicised this by the way?

I do sometimes read stories like this & wonder how on earth they up up in the national press. Quiet news day I guess

Ahh I see. Guess I’m no longer down with the kids when it comes to tech & gadgets anymore 🙁

Serious question, but how does a selfish stick actually take a photo on a camera phone? On my phone you have to touch the screen….

Tbh, looking at Honest John the BMW 3 Series has a list a potential faults (or means to burn a hole in your wallet) far greater than the Alfa.

And back to the OP – yes to red leather 🙂

Anyone else stuck on ‘old’ android?

1st gen Nexus 7 here and still on Android 4.4.4 I recall a few weeks ago there was a notification for an OTA update. I presumed this was Android 5.0 but I declined to install it at the time in case of initial bugs/build issues etc.

However, when I try and search for a software update the N7 tells me everything is up to date, so I guess I’m stuck with 4.4.4 for now Though by the sounds of it thats not necessarily a bad thing…

Talking of Stollen, who does the best off the shelf version?

I tried some mini stollen bites from Aldi, but was a little underwhelmed tbh.

Edit: Love mince pies too, but not too far into Jan

Personally I’d avoid the insurance route if you can.

I have 9 years ncb protected and had a non fault accident last year. Claimed off the other parties insurance so it didn’t cost me anything. However, a year on when I shopped around to reinsure, they ask whether you’ve had any claims in the past 5 years regardless of fault and my premium had rocketed.

She sounds like a complete tool with no grasp of common sense nor road positioning. If she thinks you can turn left from the right hand lane then I’d hate to be cycling along that road when she’s on it.

Yep, no luxury German exec here, just a mid sized Japanese hatch 😀

That price was from an independent garage too, not the main dealer. I dread to think what they would charge…

I’m not even sure that genuine Mazda discs and pads exist do they? I imagine they just used Bosch or similar and stick em in a Mazda box?

Its a MK1 Mazda 3 so I don’t think particularly onerous or quirky to work on? Fitting myself is probably out of the question to be honest. I’m fine with bike related maintenance but brakes on a car, I’m not sure I’d feel safe my wife or I driving it afterwards!

I’ll ring around a few other places to get some comparisons then if that seems high, which it does to me based on parts alone.

Not always a fair comparison I know but a quick search on Euro Car Parts suggests around £80 for discs F&R, and maybe £60 for pads…

Yes, might have helped if I mentioned the make/model.

Its a Mazda 3. 04 plate so pretty old now.

Sorry to hijack a thread but I had a similar question so seemed silly starting a new thread.

I had a service on my car where it was mentioned as an advisory that the inner edge of the front discs was corroded.

I also had an MOT in Sept which mentioned as an advisory the front and rear discs have a slight lip.

I can now hear a slight squeal at slow speeds which sound like the pads rubbing on the discs on each rotation.

I’ve just had a quote to replace all 4 discs and pads for £383. Is this reasonable as it seemed a little steep to me?

They also mentioned that the pads should be replaced at the same time as the discs, as they will have worn with the disc and wouldn’t be a good match for the new discs. Is this true?

I was going to say Road Rash but was beaten to it.

So I’ll go for Rick Dangerous instead.

I also see that Flashback was re-made in 2013. Great game that was.

    +1 for we.

It’s something I’ve noticed with many sole traders. Not one myself but I guess it’s something to do with making oneself seem less like 1 man offering services, and more like you have a team supporting you.

We were in Bruges last week, but took the train.

Do you have a parking space booked where you’re staying? I only ask as Bruges is very compact and easy to get around on foot and some of the guides we read suggested leaving the parking in a long stay car park as driving in the city itself is a bit of bitch.

No, it was just one item but the buy it now option cocked up the first time and ebay stated the payment wasn’t successful and to make it again.

My Paypal is linked to my credit card and it wasn’t until a day or so later I saw the two separate transactions on my Paypal account

Anyone else with experience of how to deal with Paypal?

I raised a dispute with them but they’ve looked into it and said I authorised two payments and tough shit basically. Not happy with this as I believe there was a problem with their system, and after contacting the seller he mentions I have only paid him once…

Yep. Sort of anyway! Waited overnight and nothing had appeared and the camera was still available to buy, so presumed it didn’t got through…

Had to do a double take of your forum name then OP 8)

We’ve recently moved to Bristol from Cardiff and am loving it so far. Obviously don’t know the city as well as some others on here but my friend (who is a roadie) lives out in Failand and it seems a great location for him for easy access to road riding. He lived in Long Ashton before.

One option to consider is what we did, and get a short term let (no deposit, bond, agency fee etc) just to get us in the area (or over the bridge) before deciding where best to live. One advantage that way is you should have a decent idea where your job will be and what commute you may have.

Currently living in Clifton and work nearby so very handy, but doesn’t fulfil your ‘village’ criteria, even though there is a Clifton Village.

I have the old HTC One and a Nexus 5 as my work phone.

To hold and to look at I think the HTC is much nicer than the 5, but (well, with EE network anyway) it comes loaded with a load of apps and crap I can’t easily delete.

The Nexus is great to use and a decent camera too. Lighter too if that bothers you. I don’t much like hangouts instead of the HTC’s text messaging app. You’ll probably get the latest Android updates with the Nexus whereas you can often wait a while with HTC.

Is kalkan an option? Went a few years ago & is pretty much loads of narrow cobbled streets and loads of great restaurants.

any “risks” that I should include.

    Nerd alert.

The risk is the chance of harm being done.
Hazard is anything that can cause harm (e.g. work materials, equipment, work methods and practices)
    😀

” This woman poured coca cola down her toilet and you’ll be amazed at what happened next”

I dunno, she was thirsty so went to buy some more?
    The flush handle broke?
Her husband asked her wtf she was doing pouring cola down the bog?

Its a Specialized S3 so think they offer a crash replacement. I got it as part of their helmet amnesty last year in fact.

I’d feel quite guilty taking a hammer to it though and I certainly don’t fancy a crash!

Sort of my thoughts really. I bought a new one for commuting purposes in haste that doesnt fit very well having tried on some other models, so it seems a bit wasteful to leave it sitting in the cupboard.

I haven’t but I had a member of staff that did once.

I knew he’d been off with a dodgy tummy for a bit but was back in work. He asked me if he could go home to change & I thought he was pulling a fast one until he explained shit was running down his leg.

Fair play he came back after the clean up too.

Of no consolation whatsoever to the OP but on the plus side, at least it wasn’t stolen from your house & the thieves should be none the wiser when you get a replacement.

Whether it was shot down or an aviation accident very sad news either way for the loss of the pasengers.

Will have been a tragic year for Malaysian Airlines too what with the loss of their other aircraft.
