Virgin TV engineer came around the other day to install a new TV box and router. I was out but upon leaving he told the wife that he had to move the Chromecast out of the way.

Found it yesterday unplugged from the telly with the UCB port hanging out and no longer works. Thanks a bunch!

Anyway, whilst trying to fix the old one I noticed it was playing silly buggers with the new router and WiFi password

I generally buy online from wiperblades[/url]

A a set for our Focus were £50 on Eurocarparts, and £22 on wiperblades, so a fair bit cheaper

DMR Sled? Am sure the STW preview mentioned you can fit a coil to it.

I was keeping an eye out for the full build pics. It’s a lovely looking bike.

Needs a darker shade of purple for the top cap bolt though 8)

Pfft. Still not as fast as a Vauxhall Astra rental car.

Read that article earlier. Some serious scars going on 😯

I imagine most normal people would have decided to retire from track cycling after that. Muchos respect for overcoming that injury and hope she gets back to her pre injury form

straight steerer forks though are the real issue

Both my 26″ hardtail that I’m about to build back up, and my FS run 1 1/8th straight steerer forks.

I’m waiting for the time when I’ll be forced to upgrade due to lack of forks

Recently purchased a car with similar requirements to yours.

We had a Mazda 3, which mechanically was sound, but underbody corrosion and a potentially costly air bag warning light meant we decided to get rid.

We’ve just picked up a Focus, so probably the same as your current vehicle.

For your budget I reckon you could pick up a Honda Civic, with the clever seats for easy bike loading duties. Owing to reported problems with the 2.2ctdi you may be better off with the 1.8 VTEC, esp with your low mileage.

A further tip: leave spare socks and underpants at work just in case you forget to pack some

I’d second this, but add a complete set of clothes, after my debacle the other day when I realised I’d left my clothes at home. Cycling shorts and a t-shirt weren’t going to work for meetings, so had to cycle back home

Used Mark and was happy with the work, plus he dropped my bike off afterwards so I could go for a ride after work

Not at all helpful sorry, but I happened to watch the film Deepwater Horizon last night, and subseuqntly spent hours reading up on drilling, cement plugs, blow out preventers and such like. I agree, it is fascinating!

I get the extortionate cost for lorries and positive impact on business when they’re shelved. And I hope I’m wrong regarding retail. I lived in Cardiff for 15 years so have a lot of fond memories of South Wales

My boss is looking forward to this as it’ll save him a fortune in commuting costs. Though it’s still some 18 months away and the toll will go up before then!

All this talk of a boost to Welsh economy makes me wonder how true that will turn out to be. Big retail parks like Cribbs offer a huge volume of free parking and will be cheaper to get to with no toll on return, than say paying a full days parking in Cardiff’s NCPs.

We have this one from Ikea for the spare room.

Not the greatest at being a sofa as it has no arms, but does a pretty good job at being a bed. I think they offer different levels of mattress too according to comfort and budget

I’ve had one loan and a handful of credit cards over the years.

So even if one has always actively rejected the offer of PPI when asked, is it possible that banks have ignored that and added it anyway?

That’s one article on BBC Sport I’d been hoping wouldn’t materialise.

    Such sad news

I’ve only been best man on two occasions, both of which I was one of two, so its difficult to compare.

But personally, I’m not a great public speaker so I much preferred having someone else up there with me. We did write the respective speeches together and rehearsed them too, so they seemed to flow quite well.

I’m not an expert on this and you may want to speak to Mobiles.co.uk to check, but I suspect that deal is signing up for a new 12 month sim only deal, i.e. you will have a new number. I don’t believe you can transfer (port across using pac code) numbers with the same network provider either.

If you don’t mind changing your mobile number this may not be a big issue for you.

I’ve been looking into similar deals lately as I’m sim only and was looking to go back to a contract, as the phone is getting old now, and there are some cheap deals available but only if you take out a new contract, and are willing to change number.

Work has been ridiculously busy week, but I’m home now and not back in work until 25th, so I’m very happy.

Plus I’ve just scoffed a handful of mini eggs and a sticky toffee hot cross bun, which was awesome!

Stop it with the lamb pics. It’s almost making me want to become a veggie!

Is it a *thing* that sheep like bread too? We stayed at a B&B in Froome a while back, and the owner gave us some bread to give to the sheep one morning. I thought he was taking the Michael, but it seemed they couldn’t get enough!

I’ve tried the Lidl and Co-op a alternatives, but wasn’t too keen. Have some of the Cafepod ones which aren’t too bad.

We recycle the Nespresso pods, but not sure what you can do with the aftermarket ones. Interested to learn more about the reusable pods

Pretty sure you can set up a series link to only record new episodes, and not the repeats of old ones.

Just caught up as I had bookmarked this for later reading. What an interesting thread.

Reminds me a bit of a University field trip to the Netherlands, to look at their tidal/storm surge defences, and we went to visit this:

I find the engineering and construction of this huge infrastructure fascinating. Top work all 🙂

I’ve always found postcode to be the biggest factor in different premiums.

My old address in Cardiff was £280 more than my parents address in Devon!

Someone bought me a pint on a night out as they thought I was Bradley from Eastenders.

I’ll give them that it was dark inside the club that they didn’t realise I’m not ginger.

Ahh, I grew up in Exmouth so that brings back happy memories of childhood spent riding around there.

Was always fun stumbling across the marines training exercises or the medieval reenactment groups 🙂

Well, the mens marathon world record is 2:02:57, so if you average it over the distance I work it out to be 4:07 per mile…

And those elite runners are pretty fit

If you like tapas try and get a seat at this place – might need to book but we were lucky walking in off the street.

Wow, this thread has run on a bit and seems to have turned into a STW meet up!

I’m up for a group ride with other like minded bristolians – mail in my profile if one gets arranged.

And back to the OP, whilst Cardiff is also a great and probably trumps riding from your door, if you’re working in Bristol then living in Cardiff isn’t so great.

As to where to live in the city if you do move. I suspect that will be governed by where you work and budget. IME I do find Bristol much more expensive (rent and buying) to live than Cardiff, but with salaries broadly similar.

Had an old nest in a loft space at work. Pest control chap said wasps don’t return to an old nest, and just yanked it off the joist and slung it in the wheelie bin!
