Having seen their brand new swanky HQ going up in the centre of Cardiff & judging by some event they put on the other night, Admiral seem to be doing very well & I suspect therefore don’t GAS!

I used to keep an old Animal velcro watch strap on the top tube of my old bike, in case of need for an emergency strap.

Never did have cause to use it but maybe I’ll try and bodge some sort of velcro back up 🙂

Ditto jam bo. Get it on yer head, has such a good spread that there is not really any need for a light on the bars.

I potentially would for off road but I also plan to use it, albeit on its lowest setting, for my communte which is half on road and half through a park. Wouldn’t want to blind drivers with the helmet mountin.

Edit: @Trout – got the battery pack beside me now and was thinking the same idea as in your pic. Cheers 😳

Kind of renders the strap on the side a little pointless though doesn’t it?

I’m probably not explaining very well here but the lumenator battery has a velcro strap but that seems designed more to enclose the rubber battery and not for mounting.

My hard tail is a 456 so has quite a skinny top tube which probably isnt helping matters much.

Does anyone have pics of theirs mounted to the frame?

That fish looks wonky. Are you sure the swingarm is aligned correctly?

Okay. Answering my own question now but Compare the Market confirms I obviously live in a sh1t hole.

Cheapest £640 at my actual address and £256 so a difference of nigh on £400. It would be cheaper to move! Or lie 😉

What I find off though is that about 4 years ago I was paying £290 albeit on an old Laguna.

It seems to go up each year you don’t claim 🙁

Live in an undesirable area by any chance?

Where are you living? That seems to have massive effect.

In Cardiff and in what is probably considered one of the less salubrious areas I guess – though I think its fine – maybe I’ll try my parents home in Devon…

This thread is begining to sound like the facebook wall of an emotionaly insecure teenage girl.

Sorry, I thought we were quoting common sayings and poetry 🙂

Like others on here I’d be interested to hear from those who have actually gone through the claim process.

I have a loan and have had many credit cards over the past few years and have always actively refused PPI. What I dont know is whether they have sneakily added this without my knowledge.

Is there a simple way of finding this out or do you have to delve through all original loan/ c card agreements?

@ scud wow, that must have been a very eye opening (read pant wettingly) scary experience. Sounds you like you were very lucky as I imagine its very remote in that part of the world with a serious injury such as that.

Having to reach over/back to unlock each door – the fun of getting in the same side as the driver then not opening the door for my brothers..

In a similar vein on my old Citroen ZX you could only open the boot using the ignition key. It was a bit of a pain dropping off people who had bags in the boot as you had to switch the ignition off, give them the key and wait for them to return it before you could drive off.

    Still use one of these.

p***ed off that the guy would not put his handbrake on

I see this a lot and wonder if its due to quite a few* larger German Exec saloons being automatics and therefore keeping the brake depressed to prevent creeping forward. I’m not condoning this btw as there is nothing to stop them using the handbrake.

*based on general assumption but a lot of big 2nd hand mercs and BMW’s largely appear to be autos.

cd,s stuck in the window rubber, to deflect speed camera rays,

Ahh, I’ve always wondered why I used to see taxis with a cd dangling from the rear view mirror. Now I know it wasn’t a cheap decoration!

Peugeots always annoy me, particularly the ones I see with all 3 brake lights permanently on even when moving! Guess there must be a widespread electrical fault with em.

This company runs hem to about 800k miles before they sell them at auction for around £6kish

Wha??? Who on earth would spend £6k on a car with nigh on a million miles 😯

    09 BMW 520d

My friend has one of these. He does high mileage for work and whilst it is very nice is also has run flats. He’s just spent circa £800 on new boots for it so might be worth factoring that into your costs.

Edit: Though your missus would be driving it mainly and as you say low mileage so not so much of an issue.

Well, being picky what you have actually written there is greater than 5.

    Less than 5 items would be < 5 😀

    Well its definitely grand!

My mind can’t contemplate the enormity of the project though. Things like the 6 storey lift shaft, the huge sliding glass front on the cube, even just furnishing & decorating the place just is just mind boggling. I meant they must have spent hundreds of thou on just fixtures & fittings.

How on earth they’ll repay the debt before the end of their days is beyond me too. Unless they plan to live there for 15/20 years or so then sell for a huge profit.

There is Muddybum up in Rhiwbina too.

Used to use Bikeshed but last time the chap behind the desk seemed more intent on playing with his phone than speaking to me and told me to order elsewhere online. I guess business must be good to direct it elsewhere. I tend to use Tredz now.

Agree I thought Evans was an odd opening and a funny location, particularly if you want a quick test of a bike.

I wonder though if the C2work scheme has meant a lot more business going the way of bike shops. Not sure how much they typically make from each sale though?

I’ve certainly see an increase in commuters over the past few years living in Cardiff, which is all good in my books.

According to my computer average speed is 22mph and average fuel consumption is 12.9 l/100 miles.

Err, need to do the maths on that but guestimate about 34ish mpg.

Looking at the website it looks like a there and back thing.
So race starts at 12:00 along with train with runner B on.
Train gets to winchombe at 12:23 (ahead of runners) and runner B gets off.
Runner A turns up, Runner B starts off.
Train is delayed till 1:20, so A runners can go back.
Train arrives back at start at 1:43, which runner B, may or may not beat.

You forgot ‘train is delayed due to leaves on the line’ therefore whole race is rendered null and void 😉

    Tick.

Wear glasses everyday & need a new pair soon. Have daily contacts but sometimes wear glasses riding so really could do with a pair suitable for sports use as well as everyday wear. Some Oakleys look like they might fit the bill.

Do you guys buy online or the high street?
