@Dickyboy Don’t you need an evaluation from an estate agent for the probate application?

Responses so far seem to be 27.5 not much different to 26 but 29 is better. But does 29″ suit everyone? What about for shorter/teenage riders who will have smaller frame sizes?

@Cougar, I’ve just renewed & upgraded to GPU using the EU code. The Brazil 12 month Gold membership wasn’t available. He got the £1 GPU upgrade offer from Microsoft by email.
Great PSA & currently still working, thanks.

My son has an offer to get a 1 Month GPU for £1 rather than £10.99. If I buy 3 year Gold beforehand, that should still work, right?

Any idea if it works with the VPN hack? CD Keys has Turkish 12 months Gold for £24.99? Could get 3 of those for £75 + the £1 GPU is very cheap.

For those with workstands that grip rather than secure via the dropouts, which part of the bike do you grip? The Park Tools and Feedback pro elite videos grip the seat post. Do you do that with your dropper post?
If you grip the frame, do the clamps rub the paint/decals?

I use Heatmiser for wireless control of a 3 Zone system. Easy to install & great technical support & advice too. They were the only multizone option at the time I installed so I haven’t compared to others subsequently available.

First Direct have offset mortgages, both fixed rate and a tracker for the term. Mortgage caclulator on their website for you to plug some numbers in & get some idea of costs/value of the offset.

There’s some info about it in the help section of the App – “Get more from your Wifi”. Virgin Tech support told me about it when I was having similar issues.

Have you used the Virgin Connect App to tune your wifi in the remote rooms? Worth trying before you go down the mesh/new router route.

Ever since racing as a junior I’ve always lusted after a pair of Assos bibs but couldn’t afford them. Now I can & invested in April having started more road riding in lockdown. A couple of weeks ago I slid out in the wet & put a hole in the hip. Assos repair service said unable to repair but have offered me discounted crash replacement. Any other generic places do good repairs?

    That looks delicious!
Agree Weber briquettes very long lasting. Shame Go Outdoors stopped stocking them so have had to buy online this year to get a decent price. Just had 24Kg delivered!

Do Direct Line/John Lewis give good cover for lots of or expensive bikes? I thought Pedal Cover did that but their renewals go up alot each year so looking for alternatives. IME the comparison sites start cheap but as soon as you adjust a policy for bikes, the premium goes up loads.

OP, if you are in north west England, consider North West Mountain Bikes based in Cheadle by M60 roundabout.
    They stock Specialized eBikes.
I’ve not used them for eBikes but for everything else they are brilliant and really do go above & beyond – exactly what you use a LBS for.

similar to @kittr’s post above you need to have BT superfast Broadand service in your area to be able to swap to any of the non Virgin high speed alternatives. Like everyone else, I had high VM bill so looked to swap to a great Vodafone deal in October but couldn’t as no superfast service in my area. Seems we are a low priority as we already have fibre, and Virgin is available if we need superfast. Spoke to VM retentions and they reduced price by £15pm for 100MB (up from 50). I was happy with that until I see some of the prices quoted above!

I’ve just gone for the new Paper White too as a present for someone who likes to read in the bath. Good value in the sale. I have one already and is my favourite gadget. Agree with comments above e-ink screen much better than a tablet. Calibre is great; also means you can run it in aircraft mode as not reliant on over-the-air updates so battery lasts for weeks.

I have a similar dilemma & found this: https://getcoldturkey.com/.  With the free version I can monitor and show the evidence of how long they are spending on each app & am trying to talk them down from spending too long on YouTube etc. If I don’t see that happening I will buy the paid version which allows you to limit access to apps and sites to certain times and durations, which means they can still access sites to do homework. There’s a version for mobiles too.

In April 2015 we built up a Cube Attention 14″ frame following a PSA and inspiration from on here. They were for 26″ wheels back then. Lad growing out of it now so interested in this thread for next size up frame recommendations.

yes I wear them. Not perfect but I can read maps, newspapers easily with them and much better for me than the stronger/weaker eye combo I tried previously when the light is poor.
The only ones my optician rates are the Acuvue Moist multi-focal. I trialled lots of strength combinations (i.e. the +ve and -ve) before deciding what suited me best. 6 weeks should give you enough time to try that.

I have the estate GTE. 7000 miles in after 6 months. I like the fact i have only filled up 8 times in doing that. I commute on electric. Loads of room for bikes& camping gear. Nice & comfy on longer journeys. Go faster button when you need it. speakev forum has lots more real world info rather than the twaddle we sprout on here.

I’ve got a fairly decent fs, now 7 years old. Doesn’t get ridden as often as it used to pre kids but nothing wrong with it except a lot of my riding mates now have 29rs etc and I get dropped on hills when I didn’t before so am considering buying similar new bike. Expensive? Yes. Do I really need it? No, but otherwise i’ll be buying new windows which I’ve managed to put off for the last 10 years. Life’s too short.

I tried stronger lens distance/weaker lens reading regime but struggled in poor light, especially reading maps on my phone. Optician recommended Acuvue multifocal – only ones that are any good in her opinion. I’ve been using them for 6 months. -2.25 for distance and L (+1.25) for reading. As comment above, not perfect – I can read better without any lenses but I can read with these when I couldn’t before. 40% discounts available on t’web.

sorry, was trying to put up a better picture!

    Thanks for the response.
I wanted to make door wider (increase from 1.78m currently to 2.5m) to get more light in to the room – 6.8m long. There is currently glass bricks to the right hand side which we will lose behind cupboards, and another side window that will become smaller to sit above work surface so losing all that light. Kitchen cupboards run all down right hand side, so 650mm from right hand side.

Had a Vango Tigris 600 for 8 years, re proofed once but I started to get pole breakages every trip so decided enough was enough and bought an end of season Outwell Harrier. Went from 1 hour to pitch to 20 mins. Really like the design of the Outwell – small porch at one end gives a bit of shelter for cooking out of the wind.. We went for the poly-cotton one as our ‘forever’ tent but the Outwell hornet is the same design but nylon. You pay a premium for that though in terms of cost and weight. It’s been brilliant – quality kit. Stood up to 50mph winds on a clifftop in Cornwall in June without any flapping about or bending.not had any issues with poles expanding in the heat, they’re just rock solid.
The downside is the weight 35kg all in and the pack size. It’s massive! Can just about get it in the boot, but have had to rationalise some of the stuff we used to take – eg buy food when you get there. Still managed kit for a week no problem. You see the dimensions written down and visualise it, and measure your boot but it is bigger in the flesh!
Another downside is the pump. Possibly the weakest link. And as 5thElefant said, if you can’t blow it up you’re buggered and a laughing stock on the campsite.

LD, interesting thread as I am doing something similar. What did you resolve for headset? I’m looking out for some air forks and am presuming tapered steerer could be accommodated with a tapered headset? Which forks did you go for & what what length steerer? Cheers for doing the graft and for other replies for sharing advice.
