    You can also ride at Swinley courtesy of regular trains to Martin’s Heron or Bracknell, if I remember rightly.

    You can hire a selection of Ghost's range from http://www.bikeacademy.at/ and pick up maps etc. at their test centre in Kitzbuhel. I think they may do a few guided tours too, possibly led by the former coach of 2009 XC World Cup winner Lisi Osl.

    Take a look at the photos you might be in them, I took loads. I have about 1500 shots, only 200 are on flickr. If you know your race number I'll take a look for you.

    Or riders 1613-1616 please?

    The 15x45cm one below has been fine for my ITB so may be OK for your calves too?

    £13.99 seemed more reasonable to me….

    According to JRA, normal tyre brands and how they work tubeless:

    What's the current thinking with ZTR355s for the minimum of faff and the easiest inflation with a track pump – normal tyres run tubeless or UST tyres run tubeless?

    A friend is looking at getting some but wants to avoid messing around with compressors, soapy water etc. as much as he can. He needs to buy new tyres either way.

    Hmm, is the m4v file an iTunes video file? A quick Google search suggests that's what many m4v files are.

    What other formats, if any, do you have the video available in? I think YouTube and Vimeo prefer .mp4 files (although similar to m4v) which may be where the problem lies.

    Can you right click and rename the file to .mp4? That may help….

    What format is the file in? Vimeo, YouTube etc. like certain file formats such as h264 more than others.

    You might be better off uploading the original edit of the video (which was used to add it to Facebook) to keep as much quality as you can, rather than using the Facebook vid as the source and uploading that somewhere else at the risk of losing more quality.

    Hmm, if the job market's picking up a bit, I might have a look. I know Skåne quite well, plus Gtbg and Sthlm, but location's not key. Thanks…

    The Maxxis Medusa in 1.8" eXCeption flavour is also better in really sticky mud a la Mayhem/SITS too, and weighs less than the 1.95" TrailRaker too, I think….

    It looks like Jakob Fuglsang, the XC U23 World Champion in 2007, and Fredrik Kessiakoff, former XC World Cup race winner, are making promising starts to their road careers too….

    Go and see a physiotherapist. I spent ages ignoring knee pain during/after riding and thought it would go away.

    It turned out that it was muscle imbalances causing the problem, e.g. tight hamstrings and quads and glutes which needed strengthening.

    Some physio exercises may well solve the problem without needing to buy a new chainset…..

    Shimano XT I think are under 1500g & less £500. Ive raced on them on all sorts of stuff from Downieville to Gorrick.

    If you mean the XT M775 standard QR disc wheels, they're a claimed 1677g a pair, so NOT that light for the price.

    The 'heat the steel frame with a hairdryer' and 'Coke as a rust penetrator' approach worked for my Inbred and carbon wrap post.

    And of course the classic pink Funk. The Rocky Mountain Cirrus came in an e-stay version too, I think.

    Claimed weights from Shimano's website, if I remember correctly:

    853g XT M770
    889g SLX M660

    I think Pat moved Enduro6 because the previous date (one week earlier) clashes with the UCI World Cup XC opener at Dalby Forest this year.

    Is the TrailRaker a UST one or normal one? If it's a normal one, it may be because Panaracer tyres have slack beads and hence are hard to run tubeless, at least as far as http://www.justridingalong.com are concerned.

    +1 for a lot of stuff on Hospital records. Check out London Elektricity, Cyantific, Logistics, Commix etc. LTJ Bukem's Logical Progression stuff from the mid '90s is also great as mentioned earlier.

    If they're the same as the ones South West Trains are using, it MIGHT not be as bad as only 2 spaces per train, depending on the train size. South West Trains have bike spaces opposite the toilet section, which I think can hold 3 bikes side by side, plus wheelchair spaces elsewhere which can also take a bike or two. I think there may be one bike carriage and one wheelchair carriage per 4 carriage train? Good luck getting more spaces all the same though!

    Some cartilage was torn away from the outside of my right knee earlier this year, and I had an arthroscopy (key hole surgery) on it. Though they didn't need to resurface any bone, they did in effect chip some holes in the thigh bone (microfracture) to get blood to pool which should form scar tissue to 50% replace the cartilage.

    My knee was swollen for quite a while afterwards, and I did have a knee brace to wear for a bit plus crutches too, but if it leads to an 100% recovery, it's all worth it, right? I'd rather be back on the bike fully fit than rush a return from surgery and mess it up…. Good luck!

    +1 for SW London because of easy rail routes for you and the bike from Victoria, Clapham Junction, Waterloo etc.

    I don't actually know anyone in London, would it be worth looking at areas with high proportions of backpackers and suchlike to avoid the feeling of being too much of an outsider?

    There's plenty of outsiders here so I wouldn't worry about it!

    Relatively cheap but with low crime could be more difficult. Wandsworth has low council tax and contains Clapham Junction station for trains to Swinley, and could be a good option. Try a Gumtree flat search for Battersea?

    According to Shimano, their 160mm Centrelock rotors weigh as follows:
    153g SLX SM-RT64
    151g XT SM-RT78

    Like poppa says, that's only a few grams heavier than the equivalent 6 bolt version. Since the C/L hubs are far less heavy, that's a weight win for Shimano C/L over Shimano 6 bolt, assuming the performance, longevity etc. of both systems is similar.

    @thomthumb – true, but I think the trade-off is worth it….

    Eldrik

    @poppa

    I've just worked out something similar! Centrelock and 6 bolt rotor weights appear to be about the same but the latest Centrelock hub designs are much lighter than the 6 bolt ones which preceded them.

    @PeterPoddy

    Thanks – I didn't know about the tool for fitting Centrelock.

    It looks like Centrelock is the way ahead then…..

    If you want to keep the R7 and not swap it for another fork, fit the carbon lowers as they match the rest of the bike more closely, keep the team green lowers as a spare, and lose the green grips?
