had a look on the spec of bike and this it what it says : Shimano BB ES25 Octalink spline with cartridge bearings.68x118mm for a 50mm chainline.

i find that most bike shops mess you about all the time does anyone else find that (things just never go straight forward there always seems to be problembo,s…….. … i,ll have to ask them nicely…. actually will it be a specialized BB if its a specialized bike (not top of the range mind you.. (in between)..

yep it is a hardtail ,but if i got one off chain reaction do you think the bike shop would fit it for me or not ? gulp.
being a slight ‘mouse’ about fitting a BB -its not my strong point (i am a woman after all … wouldnt want to get it wrong ! lol.

yep i have a similarr problem to you…. my cholestral levels were very high.. last week, i was shocked at that ! i dont eat lots of fatty foods (just occasionally chinese food…. dont eat cheese ,have lots of salads and fruit, dont smoke never have done , …. im gobsmacked and i cycle 3 times a week (big rides)… and dog walking… and walks in the dales, cumbria etc ( so that nurse can pish off if she tells me to excersise any more ! now im on a strict diet for 3 months then another test to see if the levels come down….
you cant weigh it up can you ? your brain is ticking over thinking what the pish am i doing wrong for christ sakes… im well stressed now !

id definately have to go for a small then….(cos i’ve a huge problem with my sizing.. im only ‘just 5ft tall’ ! i have a womens Hartail specialized at the moment, (its only a 13 inch sized frame) but maybe in the future looking at full suss. im doing alot of fairly agressive riding at the moment and the ‘orange bike’ and ‘cannondale prohet two’ bikes i have to keep up with ..hmmm (but then agin they are both males ! mite need full suss sooner or later…!

oh dear ! prices between 2,500 – 3,500 they can keep them..! oh heck…

i use milton or a cheaper version of it at the local supermarket…. i swish my water carrier with the solution and pour the rest into blue tube , tie tube together and stand it overnite ! nice n clean and dterilised next morning. i do this after every ride !!!!

if yours is black ( sorry but thats bad… if it wont come clean then id bin it and get a new one ! then clean the new one regularly !

i use Giro they fit me well…… spexh look good but i was told by the LBS you have to have a kind of specialized head to fit the helmet ! ohh !

yep so when i watch my son after 2 full rotations that he is doing (im doing 4 so im burning myself out quicker than he is !
suppose its all trial and error and what you feel comfortable with your own speed….
im ok when im out on my own , i go at my own comfortable speed ( not snail pace by the way) lol …. but i like to go out riding with my son as he has got me into doing alot of hill climbs to get stronger legs… and i can do those now without stopping much…

yep i went out the other ‘nite’ and cycled through farm fields full of snow and at one point we had to push our bikes uphill through big ‘snow drifts’ to get to another farm track (that was snow joke !) huge snow drifts…. i frozen by the time i got back home i was so cold.. couldnt feel my fingers ! blue i tell ya !

mountain monkey :::: its funny you should mention that if cranks are too long for you then it could put strain on your knees and hips…. cos ive had a hurting hip now for 6 or 7 months , but it doesnt hurt when i ride, only normal walking can i feel the hip (dull ache….
so would i be able to feel any difference if i went from 170mm down to 165mm or even 160mm ? if i went shorter would i have to pedal any harder ? im not much good with crank sizing so any more sound advice wud be great …. cheers

so simon are you saying the bike shop has put the wrong size cranks on my bike ? is 170mm too big for a 13 inch frame bike ??? im actually quite used to them now, but wen you look at the bike from a distance- i have always said the cranks look too long for the frame, yet there still is plenty of clearance …

im still struggling with the flu had it since before xmas and was in bed for a week, totally wiped me out, was very headachy, coghing constantly, it went away 3 weeks later then came back 2 weeks later with revenge… in my household we all have it and its getting passed round (now weve all had it 3 times over…. totaly ‘-issed off’ with it now… it stops you fron riding/ climbing as you have zero energy…..

ok im a woman and only 5ft small ! my bike frame size is soo tiny …(13 inch) and my cranks are 170mm.,,, i was after upgrading mine and saw some race face cranks (second hand in the lbs but they were 165mm so even smaller than my own ? i didnt get them ….. so is 170mm correect for a 5ft woman then ? its what came with the specialized bike anyway…
