just checked out the reviews on 'Bikeradar'.. apparently the seals arent that good ! could be a problem with wet gloopy mud in the autumn winter seasons then.. people that have them have cut a strip of innertube to go over the shaft…

    needs plenty of grease too…

anyone got any good reviews on this peice of kit ? or is there a similar product that i can look at…(leisurelakes bikes) ?

a water bottle ? lol …yep my son had frozen ice /mud last nite on his rear mech… we had frozen gloop/ice on our rims and problems of ice stuck to pedals (that was terrible because you were riding with lumps of frozen mud under your shoes which made your feet slip off the pedals all the time… we did try to hack off the mud but it was stuck like ruddy concrete….. sooo cold last nite….

i have some sealskins waterproof/windproof from last year but they are abit bulky for riding…(not specifically bike gloves….so few weeks back i bought some GORE bikewear gloves, (not as bulky as the others but they are truly toastie warm (thank god i had them on last nites ride..riding in lots of snow i was…

lol went out last nite it was baltic conditions…no snow at all when we set off at 3.30pm ,,then we crossed an open moorland and there was already a blanket of snow across the fell so we were sliding all the way…then the sky changed extremey quickly and a crosswind of snow flakes caught us out… big flakes !.. lol the worse thing was all the gloopy mud froze to out wheels and out pedals, so chunks of 'frozen mud' on pedals made it highly impossible to pedal (feet slippy off pedals constantly. tried to bash the mud off but it was too frozen…..lol
we did get home ! then i watched my bike thawing out chunks of frozen mud everywhere… at least my forks didnt freeze up or my gears ! only thing that did freeze up was my camelbak water… do they do snow chains for bike tryes..lol ruddy needed them last nite…

hmm i have been looking at Hope lights too….
my son has the Hope vision 2 mounted on his helmet tho you can mount them on your handlebars too..(it a universl mount)… great lights and i really do need a helmet light as you seen to have better vision when its on your helmet… i really struggled the other night whilst out riding the fells… having a light on the handlebars is all well n gud but when its pitch black then your vision as to where 'deep bogs' are and 'bouldery rocks' are somewhat limited…… you dont see them until the last minuit…then your knee deep in boggy peat !..
must sort out myself a helmet light pretty darn soon…
the hope vision 2 is nice n bright and has 4 settings, pretty expensive too but well worth it…..

what id like to know is if you have just started climbing and are a complete begginer, then why are you climbing at 6a grade ???????
this grade is quite high up in the system,,, you shud be climbing at grade 5a then work your way up through the grades……. some 6a grades are very hard and sometimes very technical…… i wouldnt even warm up on 6a….
