i bought a road bike back in april along side is my HT and fs….
within a few months of riding roadie bike regulary my fitness was getting better ! tho i had to buy the roadie gear to go with it of course  it makes a nice change from off road riding …..starting to build up new road routes as opposed to bridleways, link paths, moorland etc… and you can get some terrific speed up (when theres no head wind-that is……. i knew i needed a road bike cos i had a big challenge ahead of me MTB’ing, so the ‘road- biking helped me personally !

i was out riding over widdop/gorple yesterday and saw lots of MTL riders…yikes it was terribly muddy and who the hell nearly wiped me and my son out as they came flying down little’Egypt’ the tarmac decent…geez he was so fast coming round the bend not paying much attention to whom was on the road …grrrrr i wud have seriously been injured …he was centimetres from hitting me… please ride with due care and attention next time
normally there is a mountain rescue van parked at widdop res to clock peoples numbers and free goodies…(didnt see them yesterday…
i did the MTL back in june it was an organised ride with the pennine bridleway Rangers…. good day out and no stress of getting lost or taking a wrong turn…lol
think there was another ride yesterday also ( the Bronte Big K)…did anyone do that ???

i find climbing much tougher on a road bike, you have to get out of the saddle more and also your handlebars are different you cant bring your elbows in when climbing on a road bike..i find it hard to climb when road riding……. MTB is easier for me, get your elbows tucked in and you can really pull on the handlebars…… IMO. anyway
