Having read the instructions again, it does state that a small amount of sideways movement is acceptable, I wouldn’t have thought so, but hey, it’s there in black and white!

Yes, it is in the instructions, and I do have the 1mm spacer. But…

The spindle bottoms out on to the back of the crank, as it is designed to, there is a rubber washer that compresses to take up the slack, I’m just worried that it is not thick enough to stop the cranks butting up against the bearings. ie the spindle runs out of thread before the washer starts to compress.

I have checked the bb shell width and I do have the right amount of spacers in both the BB and on the cranks, there just seems to be a fraction of play when everything is nipped up!

    Yeah great, thanks for that!

Never thought of reading the instructions! 😕

They state that the spacers need to be as I have them, but strangely enough don’t mention Hope bottom brackets – most perculiar!

I’ve had them on the bike for nearly a year and regularly maintain it, so not much chance of them seizing.

    Thanks again, you’ve been grrrrreat!

Interesting that you should say that, a recent mag review of the 09 Orange 5 with QR15, commented that the forks were not noticeably any stiffer than the 07 9mmQR equipped Foxs fitted to another O5.

I was out in the Peaks yesterday, did about 35 miles up and down most of the popular climbs and descents in the Edale and Derwent areas. Saw absolutely loads of bikers and walkers and most walkers were very polite and stepped aside, many even held gates open for us, but there’s always a group, normally, senior chaps, who spot you coming and then get into formation to block your path!
Having checked Memory Map when I got back I realise we’d ridden up the footpath to the top of Mam Tor, not one rambler seemed to object and most gave encouragement.
It does p155 me off when you get 1 or 2 toss pots who spoil it for the rest of us!

I should think they know what they’re on about!

I’m sure if your mighty power were kept up for long enough you would cause a little creep over time.

‘Tis true, if you push on a wall for long enough, it will fall down, eventually

The sideways jump from one kerb to another kerb with a 360 whip is pretty darn impressive too! (4.27)

I use it too, there’s a bit of scare mongery about what it does in the background, such as reporting to google what you’ve been up to so they can be specific with their advertising. But, it does show you your most popular 9 pages every time you open a new tab. Also, if you open an ‘incognito window’ you can view porn and not worry about deleting cookies as it won’t save any! 😉
