I thought YT was bank transfer only?

I don’t think they do. When I bought mine in November there wasn’t an option for it. Like you’ve said, I was going to go down the 0% credit card route. But then the girlfriend kindly said she would lend me the money :D.

Enjoy the bike. Its awesome, I love mine so far.

I just send mine to the MILs once a week 😀

Ah it must not have been the same bike then zedz, mine was a green one. I didn’t really get much choice, they just asked me if I wanted old or modern so I went with modern and he wheeled the tr500 out. Quite a happy accident as it happened, I was meant to be riding my norco sight but left it at the chalet by accident 😳

I Ache – yeah tbh when I started looking the canyon wasn’t even on my radar, I looked at the YT and the Rose and then second hand and just thought of the canyon last minute. They’d just announced the 2015 range when I went on the site and immediately knew I had to have it in the chrome red, with the black forks it looks really smart in the flesh and the spec was similar to the YT. Really pleased with it so far. But then I’ve only had one day on the transition to compare it to.

Zedz – I think I hired that same bike, I didn’t realise it was a medium though! It was The Transition that gave me the itch to buy my dh bike as well. Awesome bike, awesome place 😀

I Ache – check out the canyon torque dhx whipszone as well. I’ve just got mine and love it! Full zee, boxxers, and kage for £1868 delivered. Well impressed with mine and the lead times are so much shorter than the yt’s that I was originally looking at.

Been housebound and mostly deaf since Xmas eve with a perforated eardrum and ear infections! But got up this morning to another gorgeous morning and thought I couldn’t waste it. So headed up to the local fell and had a wander around for an hour or so with the girlfriend.

How the dickens do you get them to appear the right way up?!

Bought a NorthFace down puffer jacket today for £100 reduced from £180 from John Lewis. Cheaper than in the North Face shop. Quite a good deal I thought.

Ever since watching the video in the OP a couple of days ago I’ve been walking round describing everything as ‘Gnarly, gnarly, gnaaaaaarrllllyyy’ 😆

Although I’m dreading my video footage from Revo on Saturday now I’ve got that phrase in my head. Usually I just hear the occasional curse or ‘Oof’ when I watch it back.

Revolution bike park booked for the 27th with my brother. Hope it’s still on and rideable given all the rain we’ve had recently. First proper spin out for the new downhill bike 😀

Had mine last Friday, woke up at the apprentice’s flat on Saturday morning with very little recollection of anything after the meal! 😳

Spent Monday deleting photos of me literally as they were being loaded on to the Network drive and made public. Looks like I was having fun though! Throwing some lovely shapes on the dancefloor.

To be honest I like going out with my colleagues every now and again, they’re a good bunch and always up for a laugh.

Not a bonus as such but got a 3% backpay for the year coming on the 15th. So I’m viewing it as an xmas bonus.

Just a shame every penny of it is already accounted for 🙁

Probably is a result of the operation weakening the immune system. Was talking to a woman from work who recently donated a kidney to her brother and she was saying it’s really given her immune system a kicking. She said the surgeon never mentioned it but when she spoke to her gp, they advised it was most likely as a result of the surgery and that after major surgery it can take 6-12 months to fully recover. Unfortunately with two young children bringing all sorts home with them she’s caught all sorts of little bugs.

As others have said speak to your gp in the first instance and get some rest!

Ah yes you’re right, it’s 2 weeks for the NIP but it then took a further 4 months before I got a court date. Apparently the little slip of paper they give you when you get pulled constitutes as your NIP

I currently run the 26″ XT wheels on my norco and think they’re great. I’m not the most gentle of riders and weigh about 110kg kitted up but I’ve never even had a slight buckle and thats after 14months of using them on uplift days, DH runs and a week in the Alps.

Currently looking to buy another front at the moment though after ‘misplacing’ mine at Rivington last week 🙁

In terms of the offence I’m pretty sure that if both axles are over the stop line before it turns red you’re ok
I’m 100% sure you just made that up!

You sure? I Heard it off a mate who heard it off his wife’s brothers ex girlfriend who previously went out with someone whose dad used to go to the gym with a traffic cop, so it’s a pretty credible and verifiable source. 😉

    Seems about right though.

6 month limit to get in touch with you, i waited 4 months before my speeding came through! In terms of the offence I’m pretty sure that if both axles are over the stop line before it turns red you’re ok, anything after you’re not.

As Lifer said, some people only have one bike. So long as they’re out riding it and having fun whats the issue? Apart from litter obviously.

What’s the link between number of bikes/enjoyment thereof and litter?

So long as they’re out riding it and having fun whats the issue? Apart from AIDS obviously.

Sorry, didn’t make it very clear, I was referring to DeadKenny’s comment regarding leaving litter everywhere. By all means enjoy yourself out riding but take home what you took out.

I stopped watching when i saw the dual crown forks, who rides a DH bike at Swinley?!….lol

Haha I’ve been waiting to see a thread pop up about me riding my DH bike around the blue at Gisburn on Sunday. As it was the gf has suddenly took an interest in mountain biking that I’m trying to actively encourage. And as I’m missing a front wheel on my Sight I had to resort to the DH bike (which I only got Friday so wanted any excuse to ride anyway).

All good fitness being stood out of the seat for an hour and a half!

As above, definitely Holliste,r Jack Wills or Abercrombie and Fitch. Hollister is just a cheaper version of Abercrombie though but the clothes are virtually the same. The only downside is that fact you don’t know what you’re buying in store as they always just seem to forget to turn the lights on in Hollister and A&F.

Not sure how international Jack Wills are though if you’re going for something that’ll be rare in Sydney so could be a better shout?

I’ve got one of these coming next week…

    http://www.canyon.com/en/mountainbikes/bike.html?b=3671

I knew it was going to happen ever since I had to hire one when we went to pila with the white room (left my norco sight back at the chalet by accident!!). Expected to get a heap of s*it but they wheeled out a brand new transition tr500. It was unbelievable. I never got as much out as I thought due to my fitness and hand cramps, but the ability to go faster and hit bigger was obvious from the off. You just go off stuff and barely had to worry about the landing. Thoroughly recommend trying one!

My bro had a ride of his mates’ Capra (albeit only at swinley) but said it felt like a DH bike to sit on but when it came to going uphill he said he could just feel everything stiffen up. He was really impressed with it and currently rides a SC Nomad for comparison. According to the owner it took a lot of fiddling to get the BOS fork and shock sorted though.

    Holy Thread Resurrection!

I was just wondering how your recoveries were going a_a and 1981miked? Just had my appointment with the specialist and he has confirmed my suspicions that I may have ruptured my ACL. Booked in for an MRI scan in the next couple of weeks and then a follow up appointment on the 2/1/15. This is the third fairly major injury i’ve had on the same knee in 3 yrs (dislocation and torn meniscus previously) so I think its probably about time I hung my rugby boots up at the tender age of 23 🙁

My major concern at the moment is that I’m booked in for the Alps at the White Room on the 11th to the 18th July next year. Assuming I can get operated on by late Jan to early Feb, stick to the rehab religiously and wrap myself in cotton wool prior to the trip, what do you think my chances are of being able to go (based on your experiences)?

Just bought a new downhill bike that looks as though its not going to get ridden for a while as well 😥 Any help or thoughts much appreciated.

    Cheers!

Ton – I’m actually a little disappointed in you. Only one egg? I assume you must be watching your cholesterol 😉

I had a double sausage and egg mcmuffin this morning, usually get a breakfast wrap as well but was in a rush to get to work.

Pack of Seabrooks and a twirl as elevenses.

I’m the embodiment of healthy living me.

One of my fingers is till a little sore from rugby about 3 weeks ago… And then I appear to have gone through what was left of my cruciate ligament at training on Monday. Got a meeting with the specialist on Friday so will see what’s what there. Looks like I’ll be hanging my boots up at the tender age of 23 😥

Still at least it gives me more Saturdays to get out on the downhill bike I’ve just ordered. Silver linings and all that!

“Christ! Tha looks like a d**k in a top hat” was a favourite of my dads when I was younger and wearing clothes that I was yet to grow in to.

“Gradely” was another, I think it just means grand.

I need to start taking note actually there’s some crackers about. My mates farming stock and after a thai spiced nut yesterday he said “bloody hell, me arse will be like a dragons nostril when that lot comes out!”

I could be wrong but I think Merlin have one of these for sale in their showroom at the moment, £2400 reduced from £6000… Very nice looking bike but seemed quite steep for a modern ‘enduro’ bike…

Edit http://www.merlincycles.com/bmc-trailfox-tf01-xtr-small-74897.html this was the jasper… Only a small and I don’t think it’s the 29er… So this becomes the least helpful post yet!

My happily married mate literally has women hanging off him on tours… He’s quite a character anyway and has a pet sausage dog called Branston which he has literally hundreds of photos of on his phone, all of which are shown with amusing narration. After about 50 photos he’ll eventually get to one of his stunning wife, at which point he’ll go ‘ah and this is my wife, I love her dearly’ and kiss his screen. The looks of disappointment on the ladies’ faces is a sight to behold.

BetterEkul has just got rid of her DS3 that she had for 18 months. Never had a problem with it. Quite stylish and very well specced for the money. She actually quite liked it and would have been quite happy to have another one until she got a promotion and decided to splurge the extra cash on a new Beetle. Her mum also had them for 3 years with no issues whatsoever.

“my mates started at Ernest and Young 2 years ago as an apprentice. He had to sign a waiver to the WTD, and had to be based in London, all whilst paid £18,000 a year. He had no family in London so had to rent which cleaned him out financially. During busy periods he was working 7am til 9:30pm 5 or 6 days a week. He’s sticking with it because at the end of his apprenticeship was a degree from Durham university and a very well paid job.”

thats a totally different kettle of fish.

Why is it? similar money, similar hours? As I should have added, it all depends on the prospects at the end of it. But I certainly wouldn’t put myself through that unless I was absolutely certain that that is what I wanted to do with my life.

They do seem demand ridiculous amounts from young, fresh out of uni, graduates nowadays. One of my mates started at Ernest and Young 2 years ago as an apprentice. He had to sign a waiver to the WTD, and had to be based in London, all whilst paid £18,000 a year. He had no family in London so had to rent which cleaned him out financially. During busy periods he was working 7am til 9:30pm 5 or 6 days a week. He’s sticking with it because at the end of his apprenticeship was a degree from Durham university and a very well paid job.

Another mate was offered a £90k job at another of the big City banks, but was told in the interview to expect to work at least one weekend a month and that he would probably need to bring spare clothes with him a few days a week so that he could shower and change at work. He asked them why would he want to work for someone that pays him so much money and yet gives him no time to enjoy it.

But in response to the OP, it seems par for the course for uni leavers nowadays.

As Cougar says, its analogue to digital so it requires a conversion. I bought one a few years ago to run my xbox through a VGA only projector. Cost about £40 and has a HDMI input to a VGA and Coax audio output which I then run to my surround sound.

Going back to jeans, I’d avoid Diesel if you have typical cyclist legs.
I tried a pair on several years back, apparently in my waist size, and couldn’t get them past my thighs.

Hmmm not my experience, even with my considerable derrière and large thighs, Diesels were the only jeans I could get in. I think they were a krooley cut, so larger round the thighs and waist but tapered towards the bottom.

Just recently bought some 36″ skinnies from next! Need to bulk up!

Hmmmm I wasn’t blown away by Rowton Hall and didn’t rate the food at all tbh… But then I was there for a wedding so that’s possibly why… Fantastic sausage butties at half 10 though!
