Typhoon for me, probably because I used to see them pretty much daily at work. I remember trying to cross the runway at Warton and the barrier coming down, next thing I knew there was this deafening roar and a Typhoon was taking off as it passed me. I was 19 and in a little Peugeot 106 and thinking it was going to be shook apart.

Last summer I had to chance to get up close and watch the first UK F35s on set off on deployment to Cyprus. They’re an incredible looking machine up close, although much smaller than I thought it would be.

All the above are completely wrong. The obvious answer is this…

A Mario Kart themed (no matter how much the say it isn’t) tour of the city in street legal Go-Karts! A mate did this and said it was amazing!

    31 BMI here… 6 ft 3 and 17st 8lbs with a 37″ waist.

I don’t think people who’ve seen me would describe me as Obese but i know i could certainly do with losing some, I reckon if i lost a stone I’d be in pretty good nick! As someone mentioned earlier, I think I’m one of those guys who carries an extra inch everywhere above the waist, but unfortunately not below ;) haha.

When I’ve looked at these in the past it said my ideal weight is between 11st and 14st. I haven’t been that weight since I was about 19 and a couple of inches shorter! I don’t think my frame would actually allow me to get to that size. I have a big waist but my chest is in proportion I’d say (circa 46-48 inches) and I have a big arse and legs.

Unfortunately I do have a penchant for filthy foods but I am trying to work on eating cleaner but I have no willpower…

Had my reconstruction op back in December 2015 and I was back on my bike (road only) after about 3 or 4 months I reckon. I was back playing rugby by the time preseason started in July. Just need to really stay on top of your physio, luckily I had a pretty good one through the NHS who understood I wanted to be back playing and pushed me to get it back stronger. The days of them saying 9-12 months minimum are over now and the physio said it’s now recognised as being much more subjective. 2 years on and my knee feels stronger than my other one! I had the hamstring graft though and I do feel my hamstring is noticeably weaker now. You can actually feel where they’ve taken it out!

    Best of luck!

I had mine done about 4 years ago now but mine was locking up so incredibly painful whilst locked but I worked out that when I kicked my leg out it would generally unlock it again.

Anyway, as above, the recovery seems to depend on the person. For whatever reason I seem to hold the swelling and fluid for quite a while after injuries and surgeries but I was back playing rugby after about 5 weeks. However, another lad in my team was playing just 2 weeks after having his done so it does seem very subjective. In terms of rehab, my experience was that I was encouraged to do what could, when I could.

Just do what someone at our place did and bring their slow cooker in from home and leave a nice stew… stewing under his desk until lunch. Only got caught out when he rang someone in his team to ask them to give it a stir as he was in meetings all morning.

I’d admire him for it if it wasn’t for him being a complete nobber the rest of the time.

I believe he’s focussing more on Jonny May’s emergence as the answer the Englands openside woes. You can’t see it in that gif but he originally tried binding on the prop as well and wood has to pull him back haha

Well. That was the perfect maiden programme for my new 4K tv. Awesome. I love how this appeals to everyone of all ages. Our whatsapp group of 20 somethings has just gone berserk discussing it.

Not myself but the better half works in procurement and is actually away on a CIPS course as I type. She seems to enjoy it, has seen her go around the country a fair bit meeting suppliers and has also been to LA, Phoenix, Chicago and Fort Worth with her work. I’m not saying she’s not good at her job but her willingness to take on new challenges (which aren’t particularly stretching) has seen her held in quite high regard by the senior management as it seems to be an area of work where people are quite happy just ordering and chasing parts and comfortable with a fairly easy role. As a result pushing yourself seems to get you a good amount of recognition and promotion opportunities. Obviously this depends on the Company. She (or we) work in the Aerospace industry.

I have this at both Vodafone and O2, despite having a 999 credit score. I ended up getting pretty frustrated with the guy in the store but it seemed to be a “computer sez noooooo” situation.

I ended up on EE, where I can’t get a signal in my own house despite it apparently being a full 4G area.

The police officer that got me was hidden behind a 4 foot wall and had his car behind the back of said wall.. Obviously had I been a stw driving god my powers of observation would have enabled me to see him. Alas, this most greatest honour has yet to be earnt by myself.

My large canyon torque fits in… just! The front wheel clamp is slightly over hanging and that’s with the whole thing shifted as far as it’ll got. Not an issue though and it’s been to France and back trouble free. I do now need a new wheel clamp after a railway bridge/bike interface though…

I guess you could argue my good lady has a better bike than me. I ride an on one fatty trail. She rides a Ragley Mmmbop with 150mm revs rct3s, reverb and full SLX/XT. I built it up for her earlier this year after dismantling my old Norco, she’s ridden it a grand total of 2 times.

chivalry – That wasn’t with the XO1 unfortunately. The way the deal was working was 35% off the basic model as a full bike, but I noticed when you upgraded any parts it was also 35% off them, so I added the reverb, guides and carbon bars. For some reason it wouldn’t let me upgrade the drivechain though. But with the levels of grip it gives I quite like having the granny gear to see just how steep you can get up!

Mines never seen sand or snow either but I love mine for trail riding, loads of grip and its just fun. Still keeping up with my riding buddies on it and once you get it moving it just keeps going. Surprisingly good in the air as well, really stable!

I have the OO Fatty Trail you’ve described above. I’m not sure when your C2W scheme runs out but it will probably be worth waiting until they have one of their regular sales. I got mine with the reverb, carbon bars, guide brakes etc for £1,100.

Not sure why people think its so difficult to get the el guapo and floaters tubeless. I’m the least mechanically competent person going and managed both in about an hour. I just split a 24 inch tube and then poured the stans in, popped to the garage and used their pump, straight up. The rear hasn’t needed to be touched in 4 months and the front only went down when I dropped onto a fireroad with both wheels locked up and ripped a knob off upon landing.

My mate at work is from Haydock and wasn’t impressed when I started laughing about the whole Purple Aki thing. He said it was a genuine concern for young lads in that area at that time and that one of his mates was made to do pressups whilst Aki straddled him. He also told me he once tried to do his thing with Andy Farrell on his was home from school. Apparently AF put an end to it pretty sharpish!

I’d say it depends on what your plans are after you give the car back? If getting another car with them they may overlook or at least discount the extra mileage, at least that’s what I was told when getting mine. If not then I guess you could try and offset it against the cars condition or value over the amount owed. For example if you gave it back and they valued it at 12000 but you only owed 11200 then that would offset the excess mileage.

As above, staff turnover seems pretty high, I’ve been a member for about 18 months but rarely use it to be honest. The one in Preston is ridiculously busy at peak times, to the point of being unable to do anything structured and having to just jump on whatever’s free at the time. Well equipped though.

I’m also going to have to disagree with Jamba re. Bath. Sure I read somewhere that they only have something like 13/14 backs in the squad. That’s nowhere near enough when injuries and international call ups are taken into account, and its not as though they’ve loads of time to recruit quality new players. Interested to see what Blackadder can do with them but I can’t see them being up to too much this year.

Glad Sale have managed to keep hold of the likes of Beaumont, Haley etc. so they can hopefully press on from last season.

If Wasps can get consistent front foot ball their backline should be scoring for fun. They don’t look up to much defensively so it’s almost like they’re saying “We’re going to score 30, its up to you to keep up”.

Sarries are Sarries and will still be the team to beat. Tigers could well be on the rise again. And Exeter will continue to impress.

In my mind its still Sarries’ to lose but behind them there will be a hell of a battle.

From the symptoms you describe, the car put itself into limp-home mode. There could be many reasons for this, and not necessarily related to the induction.
Get to a garage and they’ll plug their doo-da in and diagnose the fault.

Na, doesn’t sound like it went into limp home mode if he was still able to rev the bollocks off it. When my fiesta went into limp home mode it limited the revs to 2000 or so.

Sounds similar to an issue my mate had with his Audi, as other have said it was the boost pipe blowing off.

Did lead to an interesting conversation with another guy as to how his 2 litre tdi golf engine was far superior to the 2 litre tdi engine in the Audi (similar ages)

    From the hmrc website…

    Reduce your payments on account

If you know your tax bill is going to be lower than last year, you can ask HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to reduce your payments on account. Either:

log in to your online account and click ‘Reduce payments on account’
send form SA303 to your tax office
HMRC will send you a refund if the payments on account you’ve made are higher than your tax bill.

However, with it being nearly mid-July now it might be a little late for that to all go through before the 31st. It may be difficult now but the bonus is you’ll probably be due a rebate in January and the amount owing on your first payment for the next year will be lower.

IANA (fully trained) accountant. Although this has highlighted a bit of a hole in my knowledge for my exam on Wednesday ha!

    Best of luck!

Had mine operated on in December last year. The initial physio work was painful but if you keep pushing yourself it becomes easier quicker. The main goal is to try and avoid losing muscle and this is the hardest stuff to build back up. I was back on my bike in March/April time and after initial post-ride achiness its now as strong as its ever been on the bike.

I always seemed ahead of the rehab plan with the physio (ie I could do what I was meant to be doing after 12 weeks in about 8 weeks) but as I’ve gone further along the process that’s now slowed down. Physio’s confident I’ll be back playing rugby in time for the new season though. I’m doing agility and quick stops/changes in direction at the moment and it’s feeling really good. Really glad I had it done anyway.

I didn’t think Yarde defence was too bad today, for whatever reason the system meant he was outnumbered on the outside a few times but he always seemed to get across and make the tackle.

For those wanting rid of Brown, watch the game from last night and get aboard the Mike Haley bandwagon!

I’ve just converted the same rims and managed to get them both inflated and holding air with floaters.

I just used a 24 inch inner tube, split it down the seam and opened up across the rim, the schwalbe ones I used were the perfect size. I then took them both to to the local garage and used their pump and both went up first time. Oddly, they would only inflate when the valve was at the bottom.

They’ve both held air overnight but I confess other than a quick spin around the avenue to slosh the fluid a bit, I haven’t lowered the pressure that much or ridden them in anger yet.

As mentioned above I was pretty pessimistic given how loose the tyres are so was surprised at how easy it was.

I had the same excuse from norco when I snapped the seat stay on my sight. Eventually sorted it free of charge though and if you’re still looking for the part I have a 2012/2013 sight 1 frame sat in the garage that you can have if that’s of any interest? Needs new bearings should all be in working order once changed.

I think my emails in profile of interested…

Got mine a few months ago in one of their many liquidation sales. Reverb, carbon bars and guide brakes for £1100 quid! Bargain!

Got me up and over the Walna scar road the other day, and down surprisingly quickly! If I could figure pics out I’d put a few on.

Every season around Jan/Feb he has a slump in his enthusiasm and starts with I’m not enjoying anymore

Probably something to do with the weather as well. I know from my experiences that playing in the cold on various muddy pitches from November to February used to drain my enthusiasm for footy and rugby. Used to love the start of the season and the end of the season! Played summer league and loved every minute. Just as well I spend most of the worst months injured haha.

I am most definitely a fair weather sportsman.

Knee pads are pretty subjective I find. Loads of people rave about the Dainese Trailskins but when I tried some I found that in order for them to fit my legs they were really baggy on my knees themselves. So wasn’t convinced by their protective qualities in a crash and was also worried about rubbing on the knee.

In the end I bit the bullet and bought some poc vpd 2’s. Pretty chunky but really comfy and I don’t find them overly hot.

Best going somewhere you can try a few I reckon.

I was quite lucky to go to France skiing, Iceland on a geography trip and best of all Hong Kong, Japan and Australia for 3 weeks on a rugby tour! If I’d been any use at cricket id also have had the opportunity to go to Barbados, but my parents wallet probably wouldn’t have allowed it (and fair enough!).

My school was very good for trips, there were India trips, Atlas Mountains, Kilimanjaro and various other trips available to students of all different interests.

My cousin had Ed Sheeran – Thinking out loud, which I thought was a pretty good choice given the lyrics and the fact it was a young couple. Followed by kasabian and then gold on the ceiling by the black keys. Strong openers!

We were in exactly the same position when my girlfriend was looking at a 1 series. She loved the car, loved driving it and was all set to sign for it there and then but BMW refused to settle the finance on her current car (they were coming in about £200 short). There was no room for negotiation with them and in the end she ended up buying a new Beetle from the VW garage who were brilliant to deal with (and settled the outstanding finance on the current car).

Pro rugby player for me. Always wonder what could have been if I’d actually turned up for trials, especially as I now know a number of pros who were nothing special at schoolboy level. One of them is a current England international (tbf he was awesome at school) and the others are on the fringes of England/ solid premiership players.
    Thems the breaks I guess.

I’m actually gonna agree with TomW as well. Fighter pilot has got to be the best answer to “so what line of work are you into then?”.

We only really had one teacher who put any effort into this but he was pretty old school.

I was Yorkshire, as my surname is a place in Yorkshire.
My mate was called Cleveleys, as his surname was Thornton.
My two favourites were the short squat Korean kid who he affectionately names ‘Oddjob’ closely followed by a chap named Abraham Zachariah, who was known as “A to Z”

This was in the mid 2000s.
