luffy – that’s basically why I’m starting it up. Anyone I ride with who’s got a history of BMX seems to be technically excellent, especially when jumping.

Hora – you should do it! I’ve not ridden a BMX since I was about 8. The lady on the phone said the accelerated session was for ‘people who felt confident on a bike’. I’ve (generously) counted myself in that category.

    Give them a bell.

Airbourne?! I’ll be pumping and sucking everything. My face and concrete have been too closely aquuainted these last few months.

Heckle away. I’ll be wearing black jeans and a black t shirt with a skull on -that’s right isn’t it?

But seriously, black jeans and a bewildered look. I can say with some confidence, you’ll spot my a mile off.

    It starts at 6.

I’ve got soft shell knee pads but no elbow pads or full face, so will have to hire them.

Mr. Hoppy, they had 8 spaces when I rang earlier in the week, so they might still have spots tonight.

I’m strangely nervous. I haven’t been this worried about what I’m going to wear since the Year 8 disco….

Hora, come and say hello. I’ll be the painfully uncomfortable looking one. I mean seriously, is it just going to be all kids? Will I look like some weirdo mountain biker?

Some great pics here. Unfortunately I’ve got nothing to add, but keep ’em coming :D

I rang up CRC, it is the 100mm one.

MMMMmmmmmmmmmm…..really want one, but no point settling so might hold out for the 125mm.

(there’s one on ebay for 120mm – which I didn’t think even existed)

    Teetosugars – thanks have emailed.

in fact just checked – the cheaper one also has 125mm drop. I’m none the wiser!

I see, so the main differences are the drop (100m vs. 125mm) and some reliabilty on the older model.

Neither come with fluid and the bleed kit.

Think I might take a punt on the cheaper one.

    Thanks,

Furious – quite right, apologies it is NWBC

I’ll be there on the aforementioned Yeti, along with the Mrs (she’ll be the one that looks like she’s been dragged there), and two other mates. Say hello if you spot us

A new low, quoting your own post….but looks like no one read it so here goes:

OP – if you’re NW based (which based on your riding areas it looks like you are), call up Leisure Lakes and get a couple of bike booked on their demo day this Sunday at Marple.

I’ve booekd a Yet sb-66c I can’t afford but they’ve got a lot of others (Santa Cruz, Scott, Specialized etc)

Rick – again thanks, but it would have to be a late one as i’m about an hour away. Not out an about on Saturday by any chance?

Teetosugars – Thanks. Just to make sure we’re still talking about Delamere not Hebden Bridge there? Would be well keen for a night ride, but being based in Manchester and a slave to the Maaaaaaaaaan, I wouldn’t get down there for a sensible time.

It seems no one is out this Saturday, didn’t think the rugby started till 4?!

Mudefest or no, think I’ll play it safe and head to Hebden for a look around.

Bucks – rest assured you wouldn’t be!

I guess I’ll start looking at some maps then…

The area round Colden looks ok.

mmel – where is Cotic land, out of interest?

Buck – thanks. I’ve fancied Hebden Bridge for a while so might just head up there.

Again, if there’s anyone who wants to show me around it would be much appreciated.

Cheers Adam. Just have been to all my local places (Gisburn, Lee Quarry, Llandegla) quite a lot recently, so was looking for somewhere different.

    Back to the drawing board…

    Thanks chaps.

Well it’s sunny today, so I guess there might be a chance of it drying up a litte…?!

badllama, that sounds good. And I guess if someone does come along with more experience you could join us?

Just looking for somewhere to cover 20-25k, with DH-ish sections (basically trying too late to train for a gravity enduro!)

Probably not the most fashionable name to be throwing around but have you looked at the saracen zen x?

I really like the frame geometry, looks like it could be a lot of fun.

Cycle shorts are fine. You can take your Garmin, but I don’t see the point given you won’t be able to use it for cadence or power (i don’t think anyway, happy to be corrected)

I’d take a water bottle (or two) over a camelback. It get’s very, very sweaty so don’t layer up!

I’ve seen some bring their own cleats and clip in, though it always looks a faff so I wouldn’t bother.

Also, you don’t need a helmet!

I don’t plan on wearing one. But equally I won’t be throwing snobbish / withering glances at those who do (I hate when people do that). Whatever you feel comfortable in 8)

Thinking of heading up to Phillips Park tonight. How’s does it ride after a damp spot like we’ve had the last few days?

    Should I bother?

Thanks all. Some promising leads there!

@raindog it’s called Swn-y-Dwr Guest House, it’s right by the bridge backing onto the river.

You’ve all been so helpful that’s she’s asked me to put a post up about wedding DJs!I did tell her it was a MTB forum, not a wedding planning resource….

Thanks all. The wedding is on the 17th August (it has annoyingly ruled me out of the Dyfi Gravity Enduro :( – last place is still up for grabs!)

I’ll sit down with her and go through this weekend.

    Thanks again,

Discussion on trail building / maintenance turns into a debate on pot smoking.

Fair play. Just watching it makes my hands tingle.

I’m off on a jumps course this weekend, if I can come back attempting things that size I’ll be well chuffed!

I would definitely disagree that Gisburn is poorly executed! I think it’s a fantastic trail centre.

Regarding discarded inner tubes, I was fixing a pinch at the bottom of hully gully on Sat and noticed a lot of thrown away tubes – real shame.

Big props to all the volunteers up there.

Perhaps I’m too charitable in assuming that everyone will have common-sense and won’t try manualling over labradors or hucking over a band of walkers

    :D

    OP – great work.

Some people do stuff and help make MTB a more fun sport, while others moan but do little to actually contribute.

All the catgories do the same route right? Thinking of entering the ‘fun’ category, but don’t want to miss out of anything involved in the ‘Sport’.

Def going to enter, the sister lives in Chichester. It’s, what, only a 6 hour drive from Manchester….
