Through a combination of reinstalling the app, making sure the watt bike app was in ergo mode and repairing all my devices it now seemed to work. It dropped out on some high cadence efforts but overall really good – much more enjoyable!

Thanks for all the comments and help.

Don’t know how to quote, but @andeh I’ve read about that incline symbol and seen pictures but when I’m doing the planned workouts it doesn’t appear on the companion app. I guess that’s because they are meant to be erg only? Does anyone else not see this symbol on certain workouts?

Thanks Paino. Is there a place to turn Erg mode “on” on zwift? I assumed it was automatic.

But yes, the gear changes are the only thing that move the resistance.

Hear what you’re saying about the devs (to be expected). Wonder whether we’ll see any improvements after this announcement: https://www.apadmi.com/news-and-events/apadmi-wattbike-driving-innovation/

Thanks I selected the first thing that came up, so I will wait to see if zwift picks another option. Would be great if this is a quick fix!

I’ve seen my numbers really start to move when doing some focused strength training – especially helpful for maxing FTP for MTB racing. I used the free trial on the below and stuck with it.

I think you’re right. I’ll be riding wherever I’m able to.

I had mine knicked from my work’s underground carpark yesterday :|

I only used them once. Having had the last set in Burnage and have checked the Arndale store today i’m not hopeful of finding a replacement. Does anyone has a spare set they’d like to sell on?

I though they were £12.99 though.

    – Puncture repair kit
    – Weather appropriate top
    – Padded shorts

I’d also add lights – given we’re cast into darkness for half the year.

Apologies for the thread hijack, but my multi-trip policy has the following wording:

“Covered: Mountain biking (not including downhill racing and extreme ground conditions)”

Do i need to take out additional cover for a trip to Morzine?

A lot of the places I ride, there’s a load of GPS errors/cheats at the top mixed in with a bunch of pros and world champs, so there’s not that much point thinking about KOMS (unless you’re bloomin Raddogair), at that point you might as well just switch to percentiles. Being 400th out of 14000 is much the same as being 4th out of 140 I figure.

This.I’m 198/6229 on the Hope Line which provides me with some comfort. I almost died, but still.

I got a random 7th trophy on a climb on Monday, but that hasn’t gone to my head as there were two people waiting for me at the top of the hill :(

Yep, went with Pivot Mach 6 in the end.

Heard good things about Torico, plus it’s plenty of bike for me!

Hoping to be there, traffic in town is bloody awful because the mancunian way is closed.

Pretty much 50/50 between two individuals.

Does it make any money? Extrapolating the creditor and retained profit numbers i’d guess revenue of c.£1.8m and a loss of £50k

I wussed out. Just booked the Pivot Mach for two days, plenty of bike for me.

    ha, the phoenix? Noice.

I too suffer from a distinct lack of skill. Four days is 356 euros, so a bit of a hit to sky rocket.

did you go for the Pivot Mach 6?

IME, most people only go for a week so 8 days should cover it nicely.

The time limit isn’t completely clear. I’ve read conflicting reports that it’s for any amount of time.

I’m sold on the DH bike – i’ll probably ask if i can swap it out for one of the four days i’m there.

I’ve come across this website http://www.fbfreeride.com/en/
Would be great to have a Nomad (EUR 69 / day) for a couple of days then try out the V10 for a day (EUR 89)!

The prices are a little more expensive but the bikes look lovely. The website is not easy to use so I’m going to give them a call and see how i get on.

The other options are (prices for 4 days):
    – EUR 321 – Scott Voltage http://www.mtb-rental-morzine.fr/en/bike-rental/1-vtt-enduro-scott-genius-lt710.html#/3-size-l
    – EUR 336 Pivot’s Mach 6 Carbon http://www.toricomorzine.com/bikehire/mtb-mach-6/
    – EUR 240 Morewood (?) http://www.alanbike-morzine.com/rent-a-downhill-freeride-noir-3-bike-morzine.html
    – EUR 250 – 280 Mondraker http://rent.intersport-morzine.com/en/
    – EUR 300 – 27.5? 2015/16 GT Force X Sport – http://www.alpine-sports.eu/product/27-5-201516-gt-force-x-sport-large/

Also, a quick billy-no-mates appeal. My mate hosting me is only looking to ride for 2 days, so it would be good to join any one else out there.

Let’s not disappear down that particular discussion vacuum!

It was surprisingly easy to cancel with EasyCar. No charges or anything – brownie points all round.

We have booked a group transfer instead.

It’s utterly ridiculous, come ski season the place is going to be a shambles.

Nice set-up. Those front fork bidon holders are quite spiffing.

I guess tire choice will be quite important. I currently have Race King 2.2s on mine, but might look at going down to 2.1 or 2.0.

I think that’s the same size as mine, i will check tonight. How much you looking for? Will you take swapsees for a pair of unused large 661 riot knee pads (worth a shot…)

    [/quote]If not better IMO.

    Completely objective, obviously

Thanks chaps, a full suite of revelate looks like it could be worth considering.

I currently need a new seat post and general service so once I have got that done I can get cracking. Will try and get some picture up once I’ve done it.

The wife is going to get the pinnacle arkose 2 with some panniers fitted so she can join me on a bike packing weekend (plus for general road riding). Again, i think that looks like a good choice, but welcome any contrary opinions warning me otherwise.

    non-competitive environment

    Competitive bike packing? Crikey… :D

Thanks for pointers, i definitely fall into the buy once, buy well camp. Can i ask what specifically those bags are? I’ve been reading loads of review, and as with all these things they start to be less helpful the more you look at!

Fastus – i’m riding mine as a hard tail, but i’ll def take look at the blackburn bar roll. Would be good to see some pics?

Thanks for the guiding, was a lovely ride. My legs are humming from stinging nettles, but it’s oddly satisfying…

And re: Dogpoogate, it did helpfully draw your attention to an eye-gouging wire fence tear. Swings and roundabout and all that.

I have a large pair of SixSixOne Riot knee pads to give away

    http://www.bikeradar.com/mtb/gear/category/helmets-and-protection/knee-pads/product/review-661-riot-knee-pads-12-46083/

I bought them, wore them once and realised they were too large. Unfortunately i was moving house at the time so they got swallowed up by the move. I’m Manc based if you’re interested.

home “equity” is that portion of gross value NOT netted off with your mortgage.

Doesn’t that mean you have to estimate the sales value of your home? People typically over-estimate this value.

35% ISA Stocks and shares – Vanguard 60 equity
33% – Cash (you never know)
    5% – Alternative lending (Lending works @ 6%)
    27% – Standard life pension

I also don’t consider my home equity an investment, as the opposite debit entry wipes out the credit (debits and credits are the wrong way round for a balance sheet entry, but always think that confuses people).

A Canyon Torque DHX or a Nukeproof Mega AM

Thanks. I won’t have a full DH rig, but looking to hire something similar to the Nukeproof.

Is the big chute at around 3.05? I bet that’s steeper that it looks!

The run on the second vid starting at 0.20 look superb!

Thanks guys, especially you boarding bob. I’ve shared this thread with the guy i’m going with – hopefully the start of an annual trip…(nudge, nudge if you’re reading this Chris  )

I will pack the full face just in case along with elbow pad I never wear. I wear knee pads in any event.

ETA: Bob what bike are you on in those vids?

I’ve bought a few pieces from the Affordable Art fare, so they might be worth a look.

I also try and get along to the exhibition shows for final year University art students. I pick something i like and who knows, perhaps one day it might be worth something. But mainly I have something on my wall from a person i’ve met and which is aesthetically pleasing.

EDIT: Forgot to plug my artist friend. He specialises in mountains, which is appropriate https://rproberts.com/
