I navigate with google maps in my headphones every day for work. It’s pretty poor on the road, e.g. gets very confused by double roundabouts or two roundabouts close together. I can’t imagine how difficult it would be to get MTB directions. There’s no competing with local knowledge.

Road and mtb 10sp cassettes will fit on the same freehub, they’re just different ratios; i.e. road cassettes are much closer than mtb. If you were putting a wide mtb range cassette on a road wheel with a short cage derailleur then you might have problems but that doesn’t seem to concern your query.

I went a few years back. The line up wasn’t really much to my liking but someone else paid and Ned’s Atomic Dustbin were playing so I couldn’t say no. It was a pretty nice festival, in the grounds of some country house in Derbyshire. A friend had his wallet nicked from his tent while sleeping so keep your possessions close but other than that it was a nice little festival. Good atmosphere and small enough to be friendly and not too chaotic.

To balance the grumpy posts, I’m at the folks house with my gf. Drinking a selection of great local beers, the folks are nice as ever, I think they like my gf even more than me. Life is pretty sweet today.

I rode it a few years ago from the Samoen side, it’s pretty brutal. Took me an hour (the pros do it in half that). The worst bit it’s about half way in when the road ramps up to about 15% for What seems like hours but turns out to be only be about 1km. The horse flies at the top are pretty annoying as well.

The descent into Morzine seemed really steep and over in a matter of minutes. I’d recommend not heading straight onto the cat 1 climb to Avoriaz, I was seeing stars by the time I reached the top.

The Joux Verte climb (and descent) is great as well if you’re in the area. The col de Trechauffe is little known but really good as well.

A two bed terrace a mile or so away from Temple Meads station in Bristol will set you back £250k nowadays. Silly money.

I think that is the irony, he is widely ridiculed / despised by the left most people but he said exactly what they believe re: funding.

What the hell has it got to do with the left or irony? Even an idiot is right some of the time.

Just got home from my final day at work. Five and half years of being constantly reshuffled due to government cuts and finally a decent pay off not to have to change roles again. Looking forward to a lie in tomorrow. 8)

Off topic but have you read his biography?

Not yet. I’m waiting to see what Santa leaves me. But yes, I can well imagine it isn’t your usual biography and perhaps shouldn’t be taken literally!
It’s very readable. I’m pretty sure there’s an element of humour and lack of seriousness involved.

Do they sill have the mysterious 4th member on guitar?

Mike Vennart. He is probably my favourite musician in the world for his work with Oceansize, British Theatre and his own solo stuff. The man is a genius.

We’ve devised a way of life where the winner is the person who dies with the most toys. It’s no wonder so many people are miserable.

Peter Gabriel wrote Sledgehammer and Shock the Monkey so he’s all good my book.

Without knowing what the bickering and silly arguments are about and how they came to be a problem from thousands of miles away it’s hard to comment.

I’m torn on this. I read the Guardian online daily and appreciate a lot of the articles and opinion pieces. The thing that irks me is that they keep bleating about a lack of cash but yet publish a dizzying array of utter nonsense and ill thought out opinion pieces, apparently by anyone with access to a keyboard. I’m fine with differing opinions to my own but some of what gets published is sub GCSE standard in its arguments. The endless obsession with identity politics at expense of the base of left leaning voters is exactly the kind of self congratulating, virtue signaling that alienates large swathes of the population and leads to the cluster**** of brexit and Trump. It’s largely preaching to the converted or at least the non-plussed. I’m not sure they need someone to live blog Strictly come Dancing, it’s on the bloody telly! I get the circular argument that populist articles drive clicks and everyone paid then there would less need for it but ultimately I wonder if my £5 will be spent wisely.

This is easily the silliest thread I’ve read on here. £60K is merely ok, £45k isn’t enough to keep in bike parts? Families being embarrassed that you’ve take low paid jobs? WTF, with family like that, who needs enemies? Quite how I manage to maintain four bikes and own a nice house in a nice but expensive city while earning a fraction of that makes me wonder what planet you lot are living on? Never been on the dole, found it much easier to just to get agency temp work. As a result I’ve got a CV padded with experience that makes it easier to get work. People’s expectations/sense of entitlement are ******* weird.

Put my neck out coughing on the way into school, which left my head tilted involuntarily to one side for a few years.

Also fractured my wrist jumping off a moving swing, backwards. I was five.

An old house mate of mine broke two ribs crashing a micro scooter he’d nicked from a party into the back of a parked car.

Did make me laugh when that bloke was creeping down the train platform trying not to be seen and there’s a camera man stood right behind him filming it all.

It’s harder to be stealthy if you’re being followed about by a bloke with a camera as well.

The whole series has been ludicrous, the last episode being the icing on the cake. It seems to merely serve as a scare tactic to put people off going on the run but the idea that the police have such incredible powers to check every single CCTV camera without having a clue where you are and, as mentioned above, narrow down exit points that include every single point of the UK is plainly absurd.
