Regarding the alpine, I just think the top tube/seat tube /seat stay interface is totally ugly IMO.

I’m gonna watch this thread closely as it appears that the ebay linky is the bike that was pinched. Hoping the police get involved here and a good result occurs. The seller may also be hiding loads more pinched bikes.

Sv, probably a 120-160 dual air fork. Just with the slackline was reverb friendly.

Do you think its possible that one of his ebay suppliers knew his address, ie was it delivered to his house? I always get bike stuff posted to my word address for this reason and when i sell stuff i never let people know where i live.

Gutted. Do you know how they broke into the shed? Probably by unscrewing the door? What security was in place? Also advise him not to keep a replacement in the shed, as the scumbags will expect an insurance replacement to arrive soon – talking from experience. Im in Didsbury so ill keep my eyes peeled.

Fog, I spent 45 minutes trying to get my seatpost out of my carbon frame. Ended up using a hammer and my massive guns to get the fecker out. Think I ruined the post but the frame seems to be ok. Amazed at just how stuck it was

I sold one once. I remember thinking the 2nd hand value of XTR 9 speed mechs was poor for the seller, good for the buyer! You might be able to get a bargain on ebay

The ones off ebay are a bargain, I use one for my night rides and it’s brilliant at lighting the way. I actually carry a spare I my back just in case of emergencies.

The lack of market is not the council’s fault though is it?

    Agreed

Donk – my guess is that it the charge may be ‘driving without due care and attention’, or ‘causing serious injury by dangerous driving’, or ‘causing death by dangerous driving’ etc.

Not a legal expert though, just a guess.

I drive past the Britannia Airport Hotel often. Ive no need to stay there as I live in South Manchester, but if it is as bad as it looks, which judging by the reveiws below it is, then I would rather camp on the runway.

It’s not even that close to the airport.

Crash – yes I’m new to road riding, but been on mtbs for a long time. Cricket, I did, possibly by mistake, move my seat as far forward as possible to begin with!

OP, seriously, some scumbag knows whats inside your shed so expect them to come back. It doesn’t mater how massive your lock is, they will unscrew the door. If the door can’t be unscrewed, how secure is your roof? Got a shed alarm? So did I, but the nasty men (public forum) simply took the batteries out. Duh.

Seriously, if you can keep anything inside your house then I would, unlike Binners who chose to have no choice

Sheds. Not places for a bike. Something similar happened to me. Possibly opportunist though, sheds are easy targets and People will unscrew your shed door just to take a look inside and bingo, there is a shiny new bike for them to take. I don’t think the police take shed crime too seriously so the risk/reward ratio of burgling sheds is in the thiefs favour IMO.

Do not keep your replacement bike in the shed again. They will wait for your insurance to come through and take another look inside in 6 months or so.

I keep all my bikes in the house now.

I know of a guy who got sacked from a well known theme park. Needless to say, he sued for funfair dismissal….

I think he won the case.

The point is that they have been busy convincing the great unwashed that they are dealing with it and bringing it down

I think you are confusing the national debt with the defecit. The defecit is decreasing, but we still need to borrow dollar to cover the defecit, thus the national debt is rising.

    +1 for Binners.

    I love you Binners

How is the national debt doing under the Tories?

I wonder where the national debt would be under labours policy?

I use them on my DH bike. They are very powerful compared to my old codes. You dont really need to pull the levers, just give them a little squeeze! Savage brakes with more modulation than a ….?

Get some you wont be dissappointed.

Interesting read on the stats about injuries. I was in Bangor A and E about 2 weeks ago as my mate hurt himself at Festeringwog. The A and E doc said mountain bikers tend to come in with low impact injuries, like broken bones, cuts etc. whereas roadies come in with huge road rash or have lost a battle with a car (dead unfortnately). His opinion was road cycling is much more dangerous than mtbing! Food for thought.
