i wear lycra to mtb in as its comfy and light . What do cross country racers wear? you dont see them in baggy kit.I also don't classify myself as roadie or mtb .I am a cyclist I have a go at most forms of cycling (apart from bmx cos it's for kids)

Although I am not a fan of carbon anything on a bike I will try to be serious. Was the brake lever over tightened? thus over stressing the bar at that point. It may be an idea to use a torque wrench on lightwewight components

I started Montain biking in 1984 the hills were peaceful and the trails empty. How I wish it were the same now as then when only a few people had even heard of mountain biking

    You will need
    bb tool
    cassette tool
    chain breaker
    chain whip
pedal spanner cone spanners (depending on wheels)
    allen keys

don;t buy oneof those kits in a plastic box for 30 quid as the tool by and large are made of chocolate fwiw I would buy Park buy once and good stuff will last the diy mechanic years

Well if it wasn't for the forestry Commission we would not have many trails they are only harvesting a crop after all and tend to turn a blind eye to our off piste playing in their woods

Take the map as well just in case the gps fails goes flat or gets broken .Then again it could be fun if you blindly followed the gps and don't know where you are.The AA reckon car drivers often phone up saying I don't know where I am I was following the voice!!

mtbing should be about riding what nature put in front of you not digging it up or following the herd to trail centres with all there nice idiot proof waymarking. Then again if it makes you happy it leaves the hills free for the rest of us a bit like the Pennine way leaves the rest of Britain free for those who want to maske our own walks up

Half the people I see mountain biking look like they should play golf which will probably be the next hobby they try, followed next week by something else.God I wish the hills were empty like they were 25 years ago

Anything drug related is fair game. What the **** its got to do with the authorities what i decide to shove up my nose, down my throat is beyond me .You can kill yourself for all I care but don't go to the Nhs for help, same goes for alcoholics and lung cancer sufferers brought on by smoking

    Bar ends with riser bars.

What's wrong with that? it gives you another position. Then again if you buy the right height stem you shouldn't need riser bars anyway

So Andy the bit that concerns you is the footpath to callow hil quarry from Yeo valley which of course you can't cycle on or am I mistaken about the route? surely no one would organise an event that used a footpath?

My first thoughts were that he was pissed, he seemed to be staggering and slurring, but as you say it could well be mental health issues.

If he is a loon he should be sectioned .Another example of neglect in the neighbourhood ,sorry care in the community not working maybe?
