Look for low gearing many crossers are geared far to high for offroad use and set up more for commuting or touring. One of the Konas has a triple (The Jake)and that may be better for real offroad or cross races like the 3 peaks

No as I have done 224 miles in 12 hours which is not that good in a time trial and the example quoted is about 17.5mph.It depends on the terrain of course

I agree with Zaskar why should he be out of pocket? I am glad the kid is ok but the parents are responsible for keeping control of the kid (like you are with a dog) so claim off their insurance its why you have insurance.

I never change tyres I just put something knobbly on and when they are knackered keep them as summer tyres .Do people really change their tyres that often?

I would assume you need the 29er as they are the same size as 700c 26" would drop your front end

Audax is a great workout and cheap they put overpriced sportive rides to shame also some of the old buggers may not be hugely fast but can do 300 miles with barely a break

I'm sure that is a major concern of most bmx riders.

Who always push their bikes to wherever they perform their tricks

Brakeless on the road or one brake is also illegal unless riding fixed so in the event of an accident you would be unlikely to get compensation ,or conversely liable to a claim against you

I took out a back boiler and opened the fire place in a 60s terrace .I installed a log burner and built a mantle shelf from a reclaimed scaffold plank .I used pva to coat the brickwork to seal them .It looks better than the 80s reconstituted stone thing that ran the width of the living room that was there before

You might be better going to an engineering firm as I doubt a bike shop will have the kit to do it.I have the same problem but non drive side on a tandem stoker chainset. So same question but in Somerset

I used a rubber granule mixed with resin compound its what they use on horsebox floors and its water proof you mix it together and lay it with a trowel.I have had it in my works van for 6 years cost about 150 quid to do a lwb Renault master

There is probably a span adjust screw in the lever to move the lever out a bit.Or they may need bleeding ,cheat and zip tie the levers in to the bar overnight and this will force any air out. This should leave you with a better performing brake and less lever travel
