If he's really as talented as everyone says… 'Call me Dave' should have demoted him and made him carry on his duties on a junior ministers wages – but the fact that he did nothing to help (one noncommital statement is a bit shitty bth) makes me think that this could be a clear steer that the PM won't be doing anything to help the libdems if it starts getting sticky.
Which would make the coalition less likely to last the distance… which would be the greatest shame of all, it has real potential

there's a story that a purchaser of a dura ace rear mech was sent an ultegra with the words dura ace written in felt tip pen on the top…..

given that the claims were made from 2007 onwards, the press will have known about these but have sat on them until David Laws is famous enough to make it a worthwhile story

    lowlife journalists as usual

apologies if I'm telling you something that you already know but the last 2 digits are the rim width, the first digit is the model (3 is like deore LX yaddayadda 8) )

Tyres vary massively in width profile even between manufacturers so I wouldn't worry too much about the profile, if you run at a lower pressure then it'll get squished anyway

Really guys, I think this idea of an all powerful surveillance organisation is a bit rich – the civil service are poor at IT systems and fankly the processes often suck as well. So the fact that the biometric passports and the ID cards have been dropped is a good thing because the tech isn't mature enough and we don't have the organisational maturity to use it to its full extent. I should also point that there are not really any other countries that could do it properly….

wasn't there a time when he was commentating on a mountain stage of the TdF and one of the south american riders was dropping off the bunch so kelly broke the silence to state ' that guy needs a f00kin drilling' LOL I think Kelly is a legend

I bust the gear shifter on my last bike and didn't realise until the morning I was due to go to llandegla, so pulled front shifter and derailleur off and rode round on the middle ring. it was fine and there wasn't anything I couldn't handle there with the pikey 1×9 setup.

having said the above, if you wanted me to vote what setup I'd have I would go for 2×9 but 3×9 is overkill no two ways about it. the only thing that I wonder about is the chainline, if you run 1 ring at the front you get maximum use out of the the inner and outer cogs on the cassette and that means stress on the chain and cassette

very similar – however I think the rear stays are different and the top tube is lower on the genesis, on the gen it looks a virtually straight line but there's more angle on the carrera

better fork on the genesis but that doesn't make it double the price

I was 8, so I don't specifically remember much other than playing out….

I do remember Frankie Goes To Hollywood tho.. I thought they were rubbish, turns out I was right!!! but there again there doesn't seem to be much else that I would say is a great example of music from that year, with the exception of '1984' by Van Halen and Purple Rain by Prince. Brewing up with Billy Bragg maybe? Born in the USA by Springsteen

although I don't watch reality TV at all, I think that it's the adults that burst at every opportunity that I find a bit odd…. I'm not surprised that the kids cry but adults should be able to treat the two imposters of failure and success the same

what is really funny is that they try and big up the exercise benefits ……. you can't call anything a sport if you can smoke a cigar whilst participating

I have been in bands that do function gigs at golf clubs and they are the biggest bunch of losers.

bit of a mix and match, based on a Viking frame with replacement coppi forks that were replacement for the old bent ones. it now has tan bartape and a tan charge spoon. used for riding to work but I did manchester to blackpool on it last yr in 3hrs. 48/16 gear that will soon be 49/16 because that chainring bent itself somehow

if your ride is fairly flat then SS could be an option, pompino or maybe the SS inbred commuter, both at the 500 quid mark

I was going to get one of those pink 29er scandals if I hadn't got halfords vouchers for my insurance replacement recently, I think they're cool – although I think that the rigid forks would have been a bit too much for someone zero mountain bike talent…

oh yeah, those handles at the bow and stern aren't for carrying, they are for hanging onto the boat when you fall out of them!!! so hold them by the nose when you carry them, they are a bugger to reattach if they come out or if the fibreglass around them breaks

old GRP kayaks are worth not much at all…. if you get them, but a few buckets of water in them and swill them hard to see if any water comes out (cos if it does it will also leak in) usually around the seams and particularly the seam section in the middle underneath the seat

and wear old tracky bottoms when paddling them so you don't get fibreglass rash :-)

but they will be good for a laugh :-) I wouldn't recommend anything more technical than a canal to start with

    kayak paddles aren't that expensive

    buoyancy aid and you're away

my brother had a brompton and it was really useful… one thing I wouldn't recommend is going really fast round corners and really leaning them over as they can slide out from underneath you especially if the road surface isn't perfect

I had them on my last bike as replacements for the heavy crap beaded conti gravitys that came on the bike. they were decent enough, pretty lightweight and shed the mud well although I didn't have them for that long so couldn't be sure and I'm no expert… it all depends on whether you have similar in the tyre store already?

I'm sat writing this on an acer aspire 5740, and I'm very impressed so far.

and I have the current release of ubuntu on it. it works great and I can dual boot back to windows if I need to (not that I'll need it much)

Highland Park is always a good choice, I really like ardbeg too, Talisker but laphroag has a pretty specific finish that I've tried (I really tried :) ) but can't get on with. Try Smokehead and also anCnoc

royalmilewhiskies is a really good site (and a real shop if you ever go to edinburgh (stanes and malt weekend anyone)) and will give you lots of ideas as well as explaining about the differences

tesco own brand 12yo islay, I'm convinced it's bunnahabain ;)

get in touch with the ctc or british cycling and ask them about specific bike insurers, seperate policy with people who know about bikes. if you're going to spend that much on a bike don't skimp on insurance

and make sure they are locked to a ground anchor when at home!!!

colnago clx with super record and some not too deep profile wheels, fulcrum zeros or the like…. mmmmmm….

maybe a bob jackson frame and some tasteful carbon forks for my pub commuter

a ti hardtail frame (planetx maybe) with fox forks and 2×9
