Some people really are unhappy in life aren’t they…Big cuddles to the angry ones I reckon.

I usually have this playing in the background. Yesterday I watched the trials videos – kept me entertained for an hour. Usually though I watch the Cyclo-cross ones becuase they always make me feel I could be someplace worse than my garage :D

@northwind. Just looking for fun events , non too serious, but happy to be long distance ones to challenge me. Last year did a couple of mtb marathons and the Dyfi winter warmer (which I’m doing again in a couple of weeks).

Since the new changes my usuage of STW has decreased by about 90%. It just doesn’t work effectively on my Moto G any more.

    Shame.

For losing/mnaintaining weight and making sure you eat the right amounts of carbs/proteins/fats etc the myfitnesspal app is excellent.

It’s a food diary. Surpisingly motivational. Only thing that has worked for me.

Haha just seen the post above. doh!

The mag doesnt appeal any more. Cannot justify the payment to read 4 pages a month in the bog.

You can subscribe to just the digital download and keep your ‘p’. It’s what I did.

Past year drank as little as possible. Think in the last month only had one small whisky. Personally I feel fitter, stronger and healthier for not drinking so I’ll keep abstaining.

Clipless is just another added option (which is surely positive?).

Swapping between flats and clipless pedals takes a minute so no big deal. I swap between flats and clips depending on the ride i’m doing but generally ride flats in winter.

The ‘request a desktop site’ option solves alot of viewing problems for me. Although it does leave me with really small text and having to zoom in and out more – but alot better than without that option ticked.

Why the change to it all?

Sorry, I was being a bit tounge in cheek. I’d agree that driving under the influence of anything will impair judgement, thus increasing your likelihood of crashing etc.

Making a huge generalisation but it is uusally driving too quickly/bravado/ /distraction/overconfidence that results in accidents.

I’m pretty sure that these are not the behaviours exibited by drivers who have had a spliff or two. They’re more likely to be driving at 15mph with their eyes pinned to the road scared that the huge hedgehogs will get them if they so much as wobble over the white line.

    Ablocker works fine.

But, on my Android phone I cannot see who is instigating/starting the thread and in the thread itself I cannot see more than one or two posts at a time I.e. cannot get an overview.

Is this the same for all people?

Edit: this I guess is what people are saying is the zoom option. I agree.

How do we know the driver was smoking?

Edit: But I wouldn’t and don’t. Probably don’t analyse it too much cos if I did i’d realise that logic would say I should…But my heart says not to.

Ah, the cry of troll, second only to the flounce in the leftie armoury of responses when losing the argument.

@nifan..ever heard the phrase give the man enough rope? In your words above you flatter me and suggest you may be racist and confirm you’re just trolling too.

Calling me a leftie is flattery. Everyone knows the racists and xenophobes hide in the right wing parties, and by you using the words ‘leftie’ as an attack on me you are clearly labeling yourself as right wing.

Also, you chose to ignore the comment about you knowing nothing about refugees. You must be trolling then to criticise another person on a subject you know little about.

Good effort by you I say. :D

Interesting, RichPenny, that you would flee* from terror, oppression and violence but leave your children, wife and parents behind…

(*Refugee – r?fj??d?i; noun: a person who has been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster)

@nifan – Definition of a troll – someone who chooses to pick someone else up on a subject they clearly know little about and look foolish in the process… :D

Other night we were out riding and came across this rather big, chest high, drop off on a broken road. Mate tells me a few months back he had demo’d a guci, very expensive, full susser and the first thing he did was bring it to this drop off to see if the best bike would allow him to ride it. It didn’t. He went straight over the bars. :D

People (politicians, media, individual citizens etc) will always choose to tell the story in a narrative that fits/confirms their personal ideology.

    Paramo Torres gillet.

Works well on its own over a base layer, under a waterproof shell or in your bag as a spare safety layer. Couldn’t recommend it enough – it’s my essential piece of (properly cold) winter riding kit.

Yeah OP I agree…Be glad you’ve got a job even if it doesn’t pay the bills and you have to use foodbanks, your kids miss you because you hardly see them because you’re working long hours to make ends meet and consequently your health suffers and your chances of dying early is increased… least you know the shareholders/decision makers are doing alright for themselves.

Who reckons that even if Brexit does turn out ok – because so much time has been spent on arranging it, the rest of the county will have gone to ruin because our glorious leader hasn’t had the necessary time to give attention to other important matters in running the country.

That should have been part of the referendum discussion. Is Brexit so important that time will be diverted from certain areas?

@jambayla…can you (or someone else) post links to non UK reports/journalism that coherently explains/demonstrates that Brexit is a good thing for the UK.

I don’t want a persoal ideological bit of writing..I want a non UK impartial (if that exists) economical and political discussion proving it’s a good thing.

Has to be non UK. If you’re in the UK you’re not impartial as far as I’m concerned.

Whenever I hear a report on the news about Brexit and how someone is pointing out the difficulties ahead… they always have a pro Brexit spokesperson disagreeing…this happens so often now all I can visualise is a group of Brexiteers with their fingers in their ears going “mah nah nah..I can’t hear you..nah nah nah..I can’t hear you”.

Clearly the Brexit camp don’t believe listening is an important skill in successful negotiations. :D

Do you think Mrs May will be singing to herself that song ‘I’m so lonely..’ sung by the puppet of the North Korean leader in Team America, as she sits on her own because she’s been banished from the dinner party where the rest of the EU members discuss Brexit?

Ooh we’re so smart with our political moves…

The older the kids get, the easier it is to find the time to ride (imo). Nevertheless, to balance family time with work and regular riding it does mean being proactive with the diary and creative regards times. Also, looking after your health (food and enough sleep) is important to allow you to fit it all in without making yourself vulnerable to picking up colds and bugs etc.

I think it’s really unfortunate that the news reporting does not report in an unbiased and fair way.

E.g. Soundbites are often taken out of context (to generate greater impact) and subsequently create a distorted and unhelpful view of the situation.

Doesn’t help the matter at all.

The EU Brexit process is corrupt, inefficient and staggeringly incompetent. it is by design anti-democratic. It’s a problem for them to be in charge of anything.

@wrecker – I used to have a pair of those Adidas glasses for mountaineering and you’re right, they rarely misted come to think of it. Sadly don’t have them anymore.

So, for a cheaper alternative I’ll try that anti-fog stuff. Good shout. Cheers.

When I go riding I’m always amazed how slow people are at riding up. I always pass others on the UPS and for ages I thought it was because everyone else was super unfit. It’s not though. It’s because everyone is on 1x these days and it makes people slower on the ups.

Is this win win for me? If you disagree then you’re implying it’s because I’m super fit. :D

Just an observation. Probably going to get slated… :D

@whitestone…the OP asked about GOING 1x. Most discussions on STW is about converting from current 2x or 3x to 1x. So people are questioning it when they have a perfectly useable 2x or 3x. In my opinion cost is an important factor when deciding to replace a perfectly useable 2x or 3x system. I’ve yet to see a thread asking about going from 1x to 2x or 3x.
